THANK YOU! A video channel without all that youtube "personality" garbage. (you personality is just fine, it's not fake). I will say that the random title/intro sequence that came up while you were talking was confusing, but otherwise the video was perfect and clear and understandable. So thank you again!
Hi. My HVR-MRC1 records in dv files and I have no idea how to use them. Trying to figure it out using google, but so far no luck. DaVinci Resolve cannot read them either. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi: The question asks whether you can import clips from MRC-1 Memory Recorder to premiere element 12 - why not. I have captured DVD directly to the timeline in particular premiere element 12 - then a mpeg-2 file from the recorder's memory card also. Have Yourself a HDV Z1 (but an old photo on my channel), but did not mention recorder - maybe it was an idea to find one at a reasonable price for the relief of the tape. Otherwise a very good instructional video.
Hello, I have the same camera and the MRC1 unit. The information you give is excellent. I do have a question on a small but important issue i'm noticing om my unit that i'd like to fix. Every time i turn on my camera and the MRC1 unit I notice the unit tries to read my CF card then tells me "ERROR FORMAT" and i wont allow me to use my card or any CF card unless i format it. It's never done that before but lately it's been doing it. If i leave the camera running on pause or REC she works fine but for some reason if i turn the camera off then on to continue to record it gives me the error format message again and then in order to use it i have to re-format the card again meaning i loose what i had just recorded unless i pop in another card which i would have to format as well. I am wondering why the unit is dooing that and how can i fix it so tha t if i need to turn the camera off then on or just simply turning it on i don't get that error message instead it can read the card with no problems. Your help is much appreciated.
Hi Jonathan, like the tutorial well presented, could you tell me if this will work with the Sony Z1, seems a good idea to get this camera working digitally, rather than buying a new camera. thanking you in advance.
Hi there, do you know how to set things up to copy a whole tape to the cardrecorder? When I do that now, the recorder stops after every segment on the tape, and it can only be started AFTER I start the tape, thus losing the beginning of every scene.. The recorder should be recording independently from what the tape is doing, can that be done?
Hi, i have a cuestion, everything is working but i have to have the tape in the cam, there is no way to start recording with the recording bottom on the cam without the tape in it, any ideas how i could record without the tape and no using the bottons on the cardrecorder?
Hi, Yes you can, but if you do it this way you might need to transcode your media if you're working with FCP. (Premiere takes the files straight in.) Regards, Jonathan
Seems so easy Jonathan; but I do exactly as you do on both the MRC1 and my Z7, and while the "connected" icon flashes briefly in the camera display, I can't get the MRC1 to do anything but sit at the main screen (after Welcome disappears). Have a proper CF card inserted, and the display says "No Files". Do you have any suggestions of non-obvious problems with this kit? Thanks in advance -
Nice video I have HVR Z1U and works wow. I am using adobe premier element 12 to transwer file faster how do I do? I am using windows 7..And wot DV tipe avi or rav dv? Please help me ;) Thanks
I recently bought a unit but I am having trouble getting my Mac to recognize it properly. IMovie can tell it's there but I can't get the unit/files to show on the desktop or anywhere else. Any help anyone can provide would be most appreciated. Thank you
Hi. I haven't personally used that camera, so please don't take my word for it. While it doesn't look like it has a native mount, it *should* (again, please don't take my word for it) work via firewire. This wouldn't be as elegant and you'd have to work out how to mount it, but should enable you to record to memory card.
Hi thanks for this amazing video. Please just wanting to ask if this memory card recorder works with the Sony HDV z1 please? And where can I get this memory card recorder please, thanks
Yes ,it does,I have this MRC unit and a Z1e,you will have to mount the whole unit including the cradle on a cold shoe mount and power it using another battery,if you use it with a large battery it can get a bit heavy if you mount it at The front of the Z1,you could use a longer firewire cable and put the MRC in a pocket or fixed to a belt
Thanks for your video tute. I've followed the everything you have suggested, but when I get to IMPORT the raw video files to an editing suite like iMovie or FCPro I'm only seeing greyed out images on my MacBook Pro. I've tried to import this on several Mac machines but still not drag and drop as your video suggests? Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Yes,it's possible on some Sony camcorders, but I have the Z1e and it needs a tape in it to work on the camcorder record button, but it's possible to record by using the buttons on the MRC without recording to tape
Jonathan, what's the CF maximum capacity the HVR-Z7P would read? I'm thinking a 32GB CF would be fine to fulfill my current needs but not sure it the device can read such a card.
You must go through premiere pro or any other program able to read its format, you cannot simply click on the file and preview it without a program like premiere, so open the file in your editing software
Perfect tutorial. Great quality and supreme production.

I have the Sony hdr FX1000 camera. Does the Sony HVR-MRC1 work with this camera ?
Great question I have the same camera.

Yes you can, but if you do it this way you might need to transcode your media if you're working with FCP. (Premiere takes the files straight in.)

Probably M2T files. Just edit the file on the desktop. Add an 'S' to make the file an M2TS, AND HEY PRESTO. file is readable, well at least on a Mac.
Thanks sir
Is record it in 1080, support Sony Fx1?
Thanks for video, it's usefull!
thanks a lot
I keep getting "Insert a cassette" error after following all your steps and then trying to record
hello , just i wanna ask , it mean can i use the HVR-mrc1 without putting any tape?
Yes,it's possible on some Sony camcorders, but I have the Z1e and it needs a tape in it to work on the camcorder record button, but it's possible to record by using the buttons on the MRC without recording to tape

Even today they are pricey for older tech.
MY MACBOOK PRO READ THE CARD BUT I CAN NOT OPEN IT

Брат я из России , и не где нет объяснения как настроить адаптер, случайно сбил Настройки и все. Спасибо тебе. Tank you.
