Goodness yes, this rewrite hits a lot of the right spots. Especially with the development you gave Izzy and Sprout. I also think a few tears in the right places could have really helped the story. Ponies shed tears in g4 in just about every episode, and for a broad range of emotions. Leaving that out for whatever reason makes g5 feel a lot shallower

Very complex yet simple writting

It wants G5 to be a sequel to G4, but it didn't seem to want to explain the gap between then and now (or even remember that all that lore has to be satisfyingly explained at some point). It was like they wanted to cash in on G4's momentum without doing the work of earning it or being a part of it. This new ending does a significant bulk of the legwork, giving us the origin of the rift between the pony tribes and explaining why there're no windigos now when we know from the lore that such a rift draws them near (and also, why there's no alicorn princess when they're supposed to be immortal). It still has me wondering where're the crystal ponies, the hippogriffs, the dragons, Abyssinians, yaks, griffins, Discord?!
I really love what you did with the plot and the characters. Though it always bugged me how it's the pegasi who got to be the most technologically advanced. I thought that it's the earth ponies due to the lack of wings and magic so they build various contraptions and machines as alternatives to the natural abilities of other tribes. You actually made me want to give Gen 5 another try!

Wow! The story is literally the same but so so SO much better from _just_ changing some character interactions! I would so be in the fandom for this new iteration if it were like this instead. The characters actually having character alone sold it, it makes the undoing of the entirety of the last gen's lessons much less noticeable or painful. Fr tho makes me realize just how empty and one-note and emotionless the canon is. Every character starts out as just the one trait they have and never change, and after watching what's available of the series rn, they don't show any signs of changing and have not yet shown much more emotion or depth than they did in the movie. Except for Misty, she actually has change waiting ahead... hopefully.
Also cool to show all the concept art in the vid, found myself pausing to think of what could have been. That Zipp design! Love the colors so much more, but I see why they changed it since the lightning bolt patterns on her will make her stand out _a lot_ against the other, simpler ponies. They'd have to add some pattern details to the rest of the ponies to go with, even the background ones so they don't stand out as "worse", then it would be too busy. Would've loved the colors tho, even if we wouldn't have gotten the stripes.
I like small additional changes as well, like Hitch being on pegasus guards side because they're essentially brothers n arms and then being called out for helping a thief

Not too comfortable with separating the pony tribes because it makes me feel that Twilight and the gang failed at unifying Equestria and showing friendship :/ Maybe the idea will warm up to me later on...
I love your version better it definitely gives the characters more personality and like how the characters eventually find out what has happened to to make all three pony tribes split up. And when you said zipp was disguised I thought of her being disguised like Daring do except she’s wearing a royal cape and her hair is similar to AK Yearling so it would make sense for Izzy and Sunny to not recognize her.

Your changes are great, especially to Sprout, simply amazing. Similar to what I would've wanted to execute but this is probably more smooth and compact than anything I would've tried. The better involvement of Pipp would strain and stretch the time, but she definitely needed more show time. The exchange between Zipp and Pipp in the hangar was also an excellent touch of conflict without having definitive right-wrong while keeping well-meaning intentions. The exchange at Izzy's cottage is also great, but again it would stretch the time probably a little too much, at least adding 8-10 minutes. Production team would want that shaved down but I think your scenes can be tweaked if something were removed; possibly even the song sequences. (I would personally rather keep your story and remove the songs than have the songs, but I doubt production would follow that). Main difference (minor) I would change from your version is Izzy; she's not a tinker pony (though it is an interesting skillset), she's an arts-and-crafts pony, though using that to do tinkering here and there would certainly work.

I really like the script you have here. I really like these rewrite videos, as they often surpass the actual final product in my eyes. The movie wasn't terrible per se, but I also didn't see it as memorable because of how it was executed and how it was followed up to. To me, overall this new gen had promise at the start but wasn't that interesting after all. I think we could really use more Quality movies and shows that bring back that adventurous feeling that gets you hyped and living in the moment. Especially today where we can tend to be just a little too focused on the past and nostalgia.
Yeah I'd love more adventurous movies, both in the sense of movies that take risks and create new worlds to explore, and in the sense of adventure stories. The whole journey of Sunny seeing new, interesting places was really fun. And I actually really enjoyed the friendship missions from the later seasons of G4. Equestria really is a great fantasy setting, and seeing more of it was super cool. The idea of a series about Sunny and Friends traveling around Equestria and helping unite ponies to rebuild the country could be great.

I feel thats what makes gen 4 considerable still, it actually does that, though it did take awhile as well. The early seasons were a bit rough as well for gen 4, not as bad as gen 5 early MYM chapters though. If the writers for g5 can learn how to handle the characters, lore, and world building better, this generation could be good, still not as good as gen 4 bit still good. I do feel like the writing and storytelling for gen 4 did get considerable better during s4 of FiM. Hopefully gen 5 can manage to do the same thing. Hopefully the backstory of what happened in the past(every true detail) is brought up in the show itself and just in comics by Discord. And the show can give understandable reasons aa to why Twilight had to resort to such a messure and why the ponies separated to begin with. All i'm hoping for is if they do bring up what happened to cause Equestria to end up in its current state, i'm hoping they're not lazy about it and give a good reasonable explanation. Sorry for the long comment, but this video basically touches on the msin flaws with g5 as a whole and something that really needs to be fixed if g5 is to get better.

I do want to do some sort of community based fix fic project where people contribute ideas and such to write a sort of alternate screenplay of G5's story based on what the community wants it to be but so far I've only gotten one suggestion, and I wanna wait until I have a bit more of a following before committing to something that relies on having people to engage with. But if you have ideas be sure to share. I wanna make more mlp content but I can't really think of what exactly.

I suppose I could blame the algorithm like everyone else. But I suppose I'm not actively trying to cultivate an audience by playing it, I just enjoy making videos for my own satisfaction, not that I don't appreciate when people enjoy them. I like the idea of having a small intimate community I can interact with rather than a faceless mass.
The post-Equestria world probably was a bit more like what we saw in the MLP movie in Klugetown and the episodes where they first meet the other species. I imagine that Equestria was a world superpower, and if that gets destroyed the global economy would be screwed for a while. But they would also be deprived of Equestrian trade goods, and the use of Equestria's infrastructure in trade. Griffons were already a cranky bunch, so if the Equestrian influence was lost I imagine they would go back to being cranky and isolationist. The Yaks I imagine wouldn't be too affected, but they would also go back to being largely isolationist, which probably wouldn't be that bad for them. The Changelings wouldn't be able to change, but that isn't a power they NEED need to survive, but there might have been some hard times as they learned to live without relying on ponies for help. The Crystal Empire wouldn't be protected from the cold anymore and they might have all froze to death. The sea ponies, well. if their waterbreathing was magic, and if they couldn't morph back into Hippogriffs, they probably would have drowned by the masses, and those who could get to the surface probably would have lived like cripples using wheel chairs and stuff. The Hippogriffs themselves seemed to be doing well for themselves though. Without magic the Kirin wouldn't be exploding any more, so maybe they would actually have been better off. With the return of magic though, I imagine they would have been in for a real shock. Same for the changelings and everyone else once they randomly gain powers without any explanation.
I did just do Winter Wishday. I'm not sure about doing the show because I don't think it really needs it for the most part. I might if I feel like it, it all depends on if creativity strikes. Maybe when chapter 4 comes out it will give me ideas/change my mind.

Yours is so much better than what the real story is. They butchered the lore of g4 so much it’s back tracking a lot and now it’s as hollow as all the other shows for kids that don’t have a good plot and feels shallow.
I don't disagree that it is pretty obvious to us as viewers, but we have knowledge the characters don't. Only pegasi and unicorns had magic, therefore it was a reasonable assumption that only they would have respective crystals. Plus, that served as the "darkest hour" of the hero's journey, and if I had to create a new one from scratch it would have meant significant changes to the story and my goal was to make as few/minor as possible to improve what was already there. I mean, let's not forget how convenient it was that the three crystals are all in the ponies' hometowns and in possession of key ponies connected to the main characters. There's plenty of stuff that could be revamped in a rewrite from the ground up, but I don't really think it's necessary because all MLP really needs is to be fun.

The Changelings wouldn't be able to change, but that isn't a power they NEED need to survive, but there might have been some hard times as they learned to live without relying on ponies for help. The Crystal Empire wouldn't be protected from the cold anymore and they might have all froze to death. The sea ponies, well. if their waterbreathing was magic, and if they couldn't morph back into Hippogriffs, they probably would have drowned by the masses, and those who could get to the surface probably would have lived like cripples using wheel chairs and stuff. The Hippogriffs themselves seemed to be doing well for themselves though. Without magic the Kirin wouldn't be exploding any more, so maybe they would actually have been better off. With the return of magic though, I imagine they would have been in for a real shock. Same for the changelings and everyone else once they randomly gain powers without any explanation.

I did just do Winter Wishday. I'm not sure about doing the show because I don't think it really needs it for the most part. I might if I feel like it, it all depends on if creativity strikes. Maybe when chapter 4 comes out it will give me ideas/change my mind.

[it feels like fanrewrites for mlp + other stuff are way better quality and storywhise ,than what the corp made up or hired a ''known writer'' ,like i saw fan-rewrites like this one for other series who are ongoing , or original ones who were botched from start it feels like so much incompetence etc by the corps hiring or censorship , it also on other hand makes me happy that ''amateur/young '' people are so good/better than the corps ,saddly you + for other instances werent hired for the rerun etc i mean like mlp new gen , star wars ,velma etc like that , it makes me sad that competence is never actualy hired etc wed have so much better media than the hollow censored corporate bs that cares about money and fame more than actualy a good story ]

Your rewrite sounds better and than the actual movie.
Yours is so much better than what the real story is. They butchered the lore of g4 so much it’s back tracking a lot and now it’s as hollow as all the other shows for kids that don’t have a good plot and feels shallow.
The rewrite is fine, but why did you leave in that the first crystal joining didn't work when its so obvious that a piece is missing?
I don't disagree that it is pretty obvious to us as viewers, but we have knowledge the characters don't. Only pegasi and unicorns had magic, therefore it was a reasonable assumption that only they would have respective crystals. Plus, that served as the "darkest hour" of the hero's journey, and if I had to create a new one from scratch it would have meant significant changes to the story and my goal was to make as few/minor as possible to improve what was already there. I mean, let's not forget how convenient it was that the three crystals are all in the ponies' hometowns and in possession of key ponies connected to the main characters. There's plenty of stuff that could be revamped in a rewrite from the ground up, but I don't really think it's necessary because all MLP really needs is to be fun.

i love this for fim fans, but all of the g4 references would make zero sense to the new demographic💀im still confused as to why they made the generations connect. the newer main audience won't understand any g4 stuff, and none of the older fans are going to enjoy the newer stuff. it seems so odd imo

im so tired of seeing g4 fans, it's always adults too, complaining about g5 being bad. ofc g4 is far better, but considering its target audience adores it, i think it's doing pretty well? like it doesn't deserve a lot of the hate some of y'all are spewing.
i think it's a little obvious a lot of the older fans aren't going to like it too?? which further adds to my annoyance on this topic, like why watch it when it's obvious it won't appeal to you? after the first season of g4, they caught on that older people enjoyed the series and would add a lot of the older fandoms stuff into the show. but g5, despite them knowing older fans would watch the movie/series, they still made it targeted towards kids.💀
