Something to note: Keep in mind that I'm just a normal guy who loves cars. I'm not a trained mechanic, although my father was. If something interesting car wise comes up, I try to film it and upload it for entertainment and the "look at what I done" factor. Pat me on the back, or give me a "good game" pat on the butt. These videos are meant to inspire other DIYers. Working on cars can be dangerous, even life threatening, if the proper cautionary measurements aren't taken. You also run the risk of damaging your vehicle and or voiding your warranty. If for any reason you feel like the job is too big to handle, I would suggest consulting with a professional mechanic.

hi
is this possibile to install turbo kit on Chevy Cruze 1,6 (AT) , 109 h.p. ?
Definitely. They actually have a turbo that came on 1.6 engine overseas, but under the name Vauxhall. amzn.to/3ppYwzt
What about the gen 2 1.4 turbos? Can it be swapped for larger turbo without hurting stock internals?
@@BLSmith-hh1dx How much hp the stock internals can handle is unknown to me, but I would think around 250 hp, maybe a little more with the ring gaps opened up. For the second gen, with the non LUV, it would be quite easy to make a turbo adapter since the exhaust manifold is built into the head. If yours has the LUV engine, the manifold will be a little more complicated, but nothing that can't be done yourself, or with a buddy that knows how to weld.
@@BLSmith-hh1dx trifecta performance has a tune to boost power +51 ft-lbs and 44hp. if your change injector added a bigger turbo tell them. and about any other mods to the car.
@@cmattdabrat Hey, is this the same engine that’s on the slingshot?
I gotta say smaller channels always have the best stuff cuz it’s based on what u want to do instead of doing what the people want.
A lot of truth to that.
Yea everything is played out nowadays. This is more interesting and fun to watch then another twin turbo lambo or supercharged vette
100%!
Truer words have never been spoken
It's more accessible too. I sure ain't got big money to put into it and this is the sweet spot in between.
i don’t usually watch stuff on smaller engine cars, but you filmed well and made it very enjoyable, you have better quality than some of the bigger youtubers, definitely subscribed!
Thanks! I really appreciate that. Lots more to come!
You made me realize this is my first time watching a smaller engine set up also! Very good commentary tho @Matthew Chevalier
Took the words right out my mouth
I subscribed as well, because of that too. Even though I am a Honda guy, myself.
@honda Dayz so you say your honda has a bigger engine? I smell bullshit here
I don’t know why this got recommended but the way he shown all parts I felt like doing inventory
Not gonna lie I’m liking the build

Well I need good but cheap ways to get more bhsp torque and boost

Got this in my recommended , not disappointed quality content my brother very refreshing channel compare to the other car CZcamsrs tbh , keep it up sir your channel is going to blowup

Plus the labor time he didn’t spend. That’s at least another grand there too
You should chock your wheels when placing on jack stands. A coworker of mine got crushed when his rig rolled off of his stands.
Sorry to hear that. I did have the e-brake on, but I'll be sure to look into a set or make some.
He just needs a stronger chest

I don't know how I got on your channel, but my father has one of this black one, here in Brazil, and it's the first time I see a turbo project in this car, I really liked it!
Thank you! Still around. Going to make this thing a beast.
I admire the fact that you bought everything in advance to try and mitigate the problem that all us car guys have that is not being prepared enough
Thanks! Always prepared. Even still needed a couple things, but sorted it out.
That engine is very popular in Argentina and Brazil, where we use it on road racing and drag racing. Plenty of performance parts, like cams, pistons, rods, turbos and ECU upgrades, like Fueltech. We have some 300-400 and up cars running around.
Nice! I trying to push the limits. Shooting for 450-500 whp. We'll see. I'd honestly be happy with 350whp. Would be fun.
@@cmattdabrat we don't have v8 or v6 engines due to cost of gas and taxes. So the 4 bangers are our version of the chevy ford, and chrysler V8. You can check Martin Gallego he built a 2.2 vectra and Chiappone who just does ecotec and chevy 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4. unfortunately they are in spanish.
The turbo is finally going on the Chevy Cruze 1.8 and I'm taking you step by step!
Doesn't ZZP make Cruze parts??
I know they do alot with the ecotech platform. I had a Cobalt SS with some of their stuff
@@harlemstyles17 They do, but for the 1.4 platform. They mainly focus on the Sonic. Not a whole lot for the cruze, and nothing for the 1.8. I've reached out to them about parts or if they would ever consider it. And the quick and short answer was, they wont be doing anything for the 1.8 because there's not a market for it.

@@paullatour7012 Nice! I was on their not that long ago and doesn't seem as active. That's awesome! Thank you. Part of me wants to build a mid engine V8 bug, but the front mount took me 6 years. If this channel gets large enough, I'll do another lol.

Few questions if you don't mine. Do you have an automotive background at all? Are you on TikTok? Where you located? Thanks and good luck with the channel!
Thanks! I've only played around with cars as a hobby. My father is a retired mechanic, so I learned a lot from him, but also learned a lot via forums, CZcams videos, picking peoples brains. I don't have TikTok ATM. I keep pretty busy as it is. A lot of time goes into editing, filming, running my t-shirt business, doing the CZcams and social media for it.
@@cmattdabrat Pretty much same exact story as my mechanical background.
Consider making a TikTok as you can make content very quickly with low stress and get a fairly good return from it. I've gained a lot of CZcams subs directly from TikTok. There are a lot of automotive creators on the platform now!
I def understand being busy. Keep up the good work. :D
For future reference if drilling and tapping and you don't want a ton of shavings where they don't belong, fill the flutes of your drill and tap with a thick wax and it will catch alot of the shavings.

Say I wanted to do my Chevy equinox premier 2.0t what would you say I use for engine management?
HP Tuners. It's pretty much the industry standard for domestic vehicles. The Equinox is list on their supported vehicle list. Lots of tuners know how to use it, and good tutorials on CZcams as well. That would be my suggestion being that you can reflash the ECU without having to go stand alone.
One of the best recommendations YT has ever given me:))))

How to turn your Ecotec into an Ecoburst.
Lol! The engine held fine stock with 8-10 lbs of boost.
@@cmattdabrat Does the 6t35 like that though? I know gm does not make very good fwd transmissions.
@@brayannexon4613 GM doesn't, but Opel / GM does. What's in the car is a 6 speed manual, M32. Very common overseas. GM does what they do best. V6's and V8's, along with their transmissions. The Opel / GM division does what they do best. FWD applications. The M32 is a tried and true FWD trans, with a lot of aftermarket support. The weakest point will be the axles. Very common to snap those with some power and slicks.
@@cmattdabrat M32 gearboxes are hopeless, notoriously weak and suffer with bearing wear.
@@gilesdrew1 Because nobody does proper oil changes on them, Fiat claimed lifetime oil which is total bs… my Astra CDTi has done +600.000 km’s with an unopened M32 and a 210 HP tune :) (tho some early ones suffer from too tight bearing clearence) But they are strong as f*ck and many people put loads of power on them without issues.
It sounded really cool!
Thank you!
You are teaching me so much brother I'm gonna start working on my cruze soon
Nice! That's awesome to hear.
eBay turbos are definitely hit and miss, I currently am running a gt3582 eBay one on my built h22a. It’s been a good turbo so far. I’m not afraid to push it, cause honestly If it breaks then it’s ok cause it’s a cheap turbo but so far it’s good. It all depends on the set up and the oil feeding system etc. I’m not running the coolant side of the turbo, I may run that side once summer hits. But so far it’s been good. I’m really enjoying this build cause no one really do this to a Cruz. This is cool.
Thanks for the feedback! Good to know. I appreciate it. Lots more to come!
Looks like so much fun! I have a Chevy Cruze and I wish I was mechanically inclined but I have no idea about cars except to drive them and change out fluids regularly. How did you learn everything you know? School or a bunch of hands on learning?
Definitely a lot of fun! I learned just with hands on DIY. My father is a retired mechanic, so as a teen, when things broke on my car, he would show me how to fix them. Plenty of learning online too, and from the BoxWrench DVD's back in the day. Just a little learning here and there in my spare time. I'm a graphic designer by trade. lol
Good to see another channel of people doing their own shit. Glad to see you primed the oil first :D
