2024 Debt Confession • Did our debt go up? • 4-year Debt Update

- This video was hard for me to film. I tried several times and finally had to say... good enough. While this year's debt confession is not what I had hoped it would be, I am still so proud in what we have accomplished while weathering a big storm!
If our debt goes up this does not get added to the total debt we have paid. We only take our starting debt total in 2020 and subtract our current total; thus, we have actually paid over $200,000 in debt in the past 4 years due to different vehicles and credit cards.

My husband and I keep our finances separated as well. As long as the bills are getting paid, I do not care where his leftover money goes. You are the first married couple that I have seen do this, so I am subscribed 😂
My exhusband and I kept are money separated too. But he didn't pay rent and got evicted and then divorced seven months later. I have a apartment for me and our daughters. He lives with his parents. He tried getting full custody but he lives with his parents. He doesn't pay child support either. A have to work 48 hours a week to pay my bills and debts. He gets them every other weekend but this weekend he cancelled
Thank you for subscribing Cassie! I say if it works for you both then that's all that matters! Separate budgets work great for us.
Thank you for your transparency! I know it’s so challenging putting so much of your life out there. Thank you for sharing with us. Also side note I love the hair! 🩷
You are so welcome! Thank you Kris!!
Separate finances is so bizarre to me, it’s not like you’re a team it’s like you’re roommates
It works great for us and that is all that matters. If you look around the world it is actually quite common for spouses to have seperate budgets.
My husband and I keep our finances separate, and both put towards the big things. Works perfectly for us😊 Jusy remember everyday is a new day, every day is a new beginning, take life day by day❤
Yes! You have to do what works best for you!! We are making great strides now...feel like we are running instead of crawling backwards like we did a couple months ago!!
YAY for the car! 🚗 You are dealing with your finances and that's a huge plus, I am to, its a long road to walk but a necessary one. Well done keep it up, your motivating me! 💖💖💖
Yes! Thank you so much. Life sometimes detours our best plans, but we are back on the road now!!
Wow I didnt know you were a sherriff my father was a policeofficer foe 20 yrs 😊. Awesome debt recap 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes ma'am. Thank you so much!
You always inspire me so much my friend! I appreciate how honest and real you are with debt and how things are going!
I’m damn proud of you even if I’ve only been here for the last year of the journey 😅🤣❤️❤️
Thank you so much! You are just amazing!
Our WHY was an early retirement, and OMG, it’s about two years away (I’ll be 52 this year, my husband 58). Planning for post retirement RV travel is so exciting! 😊
Wahoo...that is so exciting Tracy!!
It sounds as if you should be proud of your change of spending habits between 2020 and 2024, proud of what you've been able to accomplish over the past 4 years, greatful for the lessons learned along yoir journey, and greatful for the savings you were able to accomplish before life kicked you in the face. Without the lessons learned and savings it sounds like life would have turned out absolutely disastrous.
Thank you so much Terry! I appreciate this more than you know! We are so thankful that we changed our spending habits in 2020 and actually started to budget and track our money. My husband and I talked about how fortunate we were that we had the money and were able to take care of the issue that occurred.
You have done a great job, especially with the changes in your life. Keep going!❤🎉
Thank you so much Christine! I am thinking about doing a 6-month debt update next time because of the big moves we are making!
Love that you’re sharing all of this ❤
Thank you so much Taylah!!
I am proud of you…..you come a long way baby ! Love ya ❤
Thank you so much!!
Awesome check in Marlene!
Thank you Stef!!
Thank you for sharing and sharing your wisdom with us. ❤❤
Thank you!!
I think it is amazing that you went through rough times and kept on going! My husband and I have been married 16 years and we keep our budgets separate.
Thank you so much! Yes...you have to keep going...never give up!
This video is very encouraging! Thank you for sharing this journey with us. My husband and I also have separate financing. It helps us split things evenly with household and family expenses but’s also keeps us each accountable for our personal spending and debt. We don’t fight about money and we don’t feel guilty about spending money on hobbies or something fun - THANK YOU! You are amazing- from a fellow 307 citizen
You are so welcome! Yes!! This is similar to why we budget separately!! Thank you so much!
Progress is not linear. Things ebb and flow. You have done such an amazing job! You never quit, and that's amazing. Proud of you, my dear friend! You're so inspiring!
Thank you so much!! This is so true!! While the past 6-months was challenging, we knew there would be sunshine on the other side! Thank you for all of your inspiration!!
Love your debt confession ❤
Thank you!!
This is an amazing video. Your journey sounds a lot like ours. I found Dave Ramsey in 2018 and worked on some things separate from my partner. Didn't get serious about our debt until 2020 because things were so uncertain. Now, we are both on the same page and tackling our debt hard core together. I enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing.
Yes...2020 was an eye opener for several of us. Love that you are both on the same page now and getting that debt taking care of. Several months ago we had a huge setback that was not under our control and I felt like we were going backwards...now I feel like we are running in the right direction again!!
Good afternoon! Wow! You are both doing incredible! You are on a fast track to get your debt all paid off! 🙌 Good work! Great message and very inspiring! 🥰💖
Thanks so much!!
I actually think it is awesome to budget separately. I know it is not for everyone, but, I love it. All the young people in my life budget separately and they love it. You have Beach Hair. Yay for Vacation.
I love budgeting separately. I think it takes a lot of the stress out of our lives. As you know we work together to make our goals happen but we each decide how to spend our money after the necessary items are paid for!
I've learned this journey is not linear and though life knocked on your door, you kept it moving. Proud of your progress!
Yes...we just kept moving! Never give up! Thank you!!
Great video 😊I think it’s great progress considering life happens 💚💚💚🥰
Yes! Life sometimes has other plans! LOL...Thank you!!
You have come a long way and even through the Rough times you are still coming out positively. You have paid off so much debt. Keep going you will get there.
We are still swimming!! Just keep swimming!!
The key I see is to stay encouraged and don’t give up.
Yes!!
Hubby and I keep our finances separate as well, we have tried it so many ways and after 23 years together this is what is working for us at the moment that may change again at some point but we have different budgeting styles so keeping it separate helps. Thank you for sharing. You made so much positive progress despite the hardships and that is certainly not an easy task. So proud of both of you. ( I would have taken on the debt as well instead of taking even more out of savings I think that was a smart move) 💜 💜 💜
Thank you so much! The past 6 months were rough but we just kept our head up and knew we would get through it!! The separate budgets work great for us. We used to budget quite differently, but once Mr. SG307 asked me to help then obviously the budgeting styles are the same. This makes it easier for me and him.
You’re doing an Amazing job despite your issues you’ve encountered!💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾Thus is very encouraging to me as a single mother of 2 adults now and I’m currently trying to get out of car- cc- irs debt. Car will be done in June🙏🏾- cc’s July, and hopefully irs in Aug if not sooner. Life happens but we keep on pushing as God has us🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾Thank you for being honest n sharing!!!
Thank you so much! Wahoo...that is so amazing for your financial journey Terry! Love that you have a plan for when those debts will be paid! Keep up the good work!!
You rock it all!!!
Thank you!
Thank you sharing ❤
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing, this is the kind of videos I need to help me get out of so much credit card debt. Keep up the amazing work. Kudos to you for stepping up and taking control of your finances when things got rough 🎉
Glad it was helpful! I know it can seem impossible when the debt number is large, but you can do it! I am still amazed where we started and where we are now! Thank you!
You are right, we are all on our own journey. You both are doing awesome compared to 2020!
Yes...a huge difference from 2020!! I know our journey had a huge detour this year, but we are back on the right road now!!
Commenting again now that I’ve watched the whole video… love how transparent and real you are. Great job paying off debt AND saving money. My story mimics yours in the way we had a huge wake up call in the winter of 2022…. Been tackling debt ever since. Slowly but surely making progress. ❤
Thanks so much!! So happy that you are making progress on your debt! Every dollar adds up!!
I was just thinking about how work was going for him! I hope things are on the mend financially.
Things are going well. Thank you so much!!
I started watching your videos about a week ago. I binged watched the last 10 to get an idea of what your channel was about. I have to say that I really enjoy watching your videos. I appreciate your transparency this honestly helps out a lot. I appreciate you sharing and I can’t wait to see what you accomplish by the end of the year,
Thank you so much! I think showing the good, bad and ugly is important. The road is full of dips and hills and those dreaded detours! One thing I wish I would have kept track of was our actual debt total that we paid in the past 4 years. I know it is well over $200k.
Great job Marlene🎉
Your path isn’t a straight line but none of them are. Up or down you have a great attitude and keep on smiling 😉
You are so right Charla! Our path has hills and valleys and detours, but we are back on the path now!
New subscriber :)
Welcome!!
Loved seeing your breakdown and how far you both have come to paying off debt each month. Congrats to you both Marlene 🎉🥰!! I am so proud of You both!! I really appreciate how real and transparent you are with us all. It is definitely encouraging to me as I am on my debt free journey as well. It's taking me a lot longer, but I'm making headway and that makes me happy. Thank you for sharing these Amazing videos!!! ❤❤

Ive been single for so long & financially independent idt i could ever fully combine finances with someone❤
I just saw a saving challenge that said collect memories not things i cant remember whos shop it was😂
Thank you Victoria! This year it was so hard to film. I think it was because of the huge set back we had, but ultimately we have still made huge progress!! I love having our separate budgets! It works so well for us.
Good morning lenneeee
