  • I recently met up with fellow Texoma Real Estate agent, Angie Patton for this edition of Texoma Hot Spots. This time we head out to do some fossil hunting in Sherman, Texas.
Join us as we embark on a journey through time as we delve into the depths of Sherman, Texas, on a fossil hunting expedition along the banks of Post Oak Creek. We uncover the remnants of prehistoric marine life, including fascinating shark's teeth and other prehistoric fossils.
Discover the secrets of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma's geological past, where millions of years ago, these very lands were submerged beneath ancient seas. Through the lens of fossil hunting, we'll explore the remnants of a time when massive oceans teemed with life, leaving behind a rich tapestry of fossils as evidence of their existence.
Thanks again Angie for the adventure!

I’ve driven past there SO many times! I always intend to make a dedicated trip but never have. I’ve inspected so many houses in Sherman and Denison (home inspector) and I’m usually trying to find metal detecting permissions…but I do need to check out the creek one day!

Is that Post Oak creek? I went once and found 10 teeth and an arrowhead. Jumped in the creek after a round of golf @ Stonecreek Golfclub.

This particular spot is known for shark’s teeth but I’ve been told some arrowheads have been found in this area.

I’m not familiar with that area for fossil hunting. There are some sites out there to help you find more information. Like this one. northtexasfossils.com
