We always love stopping at this place when we go to Pigeon Forge….its become a tradition. But we go for the lesser buckets around $30-60 dollars and still get ALOT of great gems and fossils.

I went gem mining in Boone for $14.99 bucket and it had a 3.2 carat emerald in it. I had to go to 5 jewelers before I found one that could cut a rock that big. Estimated value $900

They buy these crystals, fossils and rocks from mines and other places around the world, these buckets are referred to as a salted bucket. In this case the Pigeon Forge Gem Mine already knows what's in the bucket and it's value because they put these buckets together.

It's literally 100 dollars in rocks. For 2500 you could have spent all day out west at the real gem show and got museum specimens. Rather that worthless items stuffed in sand. That amethyst cluster is 20 bux max at any roadside stand...

Ok....Im trying to be objective here. What is the end game here? What do you do with the rocks that you bought? I mean after all, you DID buy them. I cant see spending that much money on rocks unless you are going to make jewelry out of them or sell them. Im sure it was fun and all of that, but you could spend a lot less and still enjoy your family time. I mean lets face it, your average vacationer couldnt afford that. But I did watch the whole video so that will put a little change in your pocket.

    • @fashionphazeboutique

I agree. Seems like such a waste of money for such little reward. But that's the climate we live in. It surprises me to see shark teeth in the same Barrell along with many of the rocks. This is a Barrell of runoff buckets they didn't sell. Shame on Pigeon Forge Gem Mine...
