Nice ranking. I disagree with a lot of this list but you explained your points very well. Over time i‘m starting to dislike samur more and more mostly because i feel like the phases where you just fight enemies instead of him are pretty boring. Even though i can see the flaws in the dark lord fight, i still think it‘s a blast. The healing can get a bit annoying and the mechanics are kinda simplistic but i still enjoy it. The khan maykr has really grown on me since i hated that fight on my first playthrough. Now, it‘s probably my second favorite. My favorite has to be the icon of sin though. I understand the points you made but i always get so excited when i fight him. It just feels so epic to me. The gladiator is a hella underrated boss as well, one of the best in the game for sure.
8:35 I think that when a Priest's sentry is destroyed, the Priest can no longer hide from the Slayer, given how even Deag Grav just reappears right after the Gladiator's head gets obliterated.
Davoth is personally my favorite fight as I feel he would've been too easy without his ability to regenerate health. It creates an intense feeling (at least for me) when you make a mistake. I also like how the focus is entirely on him, with Samur and the Icon I felt that it was the demons around the fight that made it difficult not the bosses themselves, with Davoth he's 100% focused on you and is also more strategic than a marauder. Instead of constantly rushing you, he likes to square up with you and seize and opening even when your going after resources. I understand why most don't like him but it's certainly a thrill for me. Other than that, great vid
It's nice seeing Davoth get some credit, as I believe there are some good things about that fight. However, while there are multiple ways the fight can improve, the thing that fight needed the most was to allow damaging him without relying on his eyes flashing green, much like the Gladiator. It's a helpful tool, but it shouldn't make the fight entirely. Couple that with a more aggressive moveset, and you have a fight that keeps the pressure on without just baiting him.
Great video man! Really high quality and definitely deserves more attention
Alex here, watched your doom eternal video and it was pretty well done as well. High fives all around. I did a level ranking as well that I would point you towards since thats a fun topic, and it's always near to hear what peoples thoughts on level rankings are.
I do agree with what he said about the maurader glory kill it's my favourite glory kill aswell
This is my ranking (i didnt played the 2 dlcs)
1. Icon of sin
2. Gladiator
3. Khan maykr
4. Doom hunter
5. Marauder (even thought i dont consider him 100% a boss)
Now that I've beaten the DLCs I feel pretty good about saying that this is my favorite shooter of all time and one of my favorite games period. TAG1 is one of my favorite DLCs ever as well. The gameplay is so satisfying, and while I love DOOM 2016's combat as well, I prefer the more strategic approach taken for this game to encourage weapon variety. Although the bosses overall are a bit of a downgrade here. I generally don't like bosses where they just throw a ton of ads at you. Sometimes it works in this game but it's still annoying otherwise. My ranking will combine 2016's bosses as well:
10) Icon of Sin (very underwhelming final boss. It's very boring, has a second health bar but not a second phase to keep things interesting)
9) Spider Mastermind (also a pretty underwhelming final boss. The only thing it does better than the Icon is that there's no ads and it's a bit more involved)
8) Khan Maykr (the arena hazards were a cool idea but sometimes it's way too chaotic and feels like you don't have anywhere to go. I like this one though and enjoy all the bosses from here on out)
7) Marauder (super easy to deal with now, I remember when everyone was complaining about them when the game first came out. The boss encounter has a cool cutscene and I enjoy fighting these guys, but I think the impact is somewhat lessened by the fact that they're uncommon enemies later on)
6) DOOM Hunters (and the same with these guys. I like the arenas better here and the gank was unexpected but a nice surprise that was designed very well)
5) The Dark Lord (I understand why you don't like this one as much but I still find him kinda fun. I think he just needed a much more expanded moveset, more opportunities for damage, and not be able to heal. Then he'd prolly be my favorite, because it has the skeleton of an amazing boss)
4) Seraphim (hardest boss by far, even on Hurt Me Plenty. For the most part it's a very well designed challenge, but tbh I really hate the Spirits and that alone drags the fight down a bit for me. However it's very involved and an insane rush of adrenaline)
3) The Hell Guards (From Soft would be proud. Amazingly designed gank fight, multiple opportunities for damage and just the right amount of aggro. Just a really fun time)
2) Gladiator (pretty much Eternal's version of the Cyber Demon. What makes this better is Eternal's movement, and the only reason it isn't top dog is because of the ads. Especially because when I hear the term "Gladiator," I'm expecting a one on one, and when it is that, it's amazing)
1) Cyber Demon (perfectly designed FPS boss and a ton of fun to fight. The way that he can just throw up walls around you and force a platforming challenge is so cool, and I like how that was emulated in the Gladiator fight. The second phase arena is also badass, no gimmicks, attacks with good spatial mindfulness, it's all there)
the bosses are one of the few things about this game I think are really mid
My list is
7. Doom Hunter
6. Marauder
5. Khan Maykr
4. Serraphim
3. Icon of Sin
2. Gladiator
1. Dark Lord
I love all these bosses in my opinion they're all great
The battle mode map you were referring to while talking about the khan makyr is actually called celestial
Do you plan on doing a ranking videos of biomes/bosses for Returnal?
Jack here, at the moment I don’t have a PS5 but I plan on getting it soon. I’ve never actually heard of Returnal but it looks great, at least graphically.
Hey, You should rank the bosses in The Dragon Quest Builders Franchise. (There are only 8 don't worry) Loving the content by the way.
Glad you liked it! That doesn't really look like my kind of game tbh so I don't think we'll ever do that video, but I'll definitely check it out to see what it's like before totally discarding the idea-Alex
@@Cytonox Thanks, your videos really inspired me to get the Arkham Games and I might start playing Doom Again.
You guys should try returnal, unlike ratchet and clank returnal does a good job at doom externals type of combat as well as being different as well ultra kill is a game you’ll love as well 100 pe recent if you love doom and there is a lot of great bosses in that game
I love Ultrakill, have played that for a little while. Gotta try Returnal sometime for sure
I think ultra kill has the best boss fights in the fps genre for me personally
Ultrakill is an awesome game for sure
My ranking
7: Dark Lord
6: Icon of Sin
5: Samur
4: Marauder
3: Doom Hunter
2: Khan Maykr
1: Gladiator
I've always felt Trial of Maligog was a pretty good boss fight even if it was quite annoying.
It took way too long for me to beat davoth and I even had to take a long break due to my fingers starting to Hurt from how long i fought him
personally my ranking is
7.khan makyr too easy
6.samur makyr too annoying to fight he awlays runs away in the second part
5.gladiator not a bad boss but it is basicly stolen concept of a beyblade and a marauder
4. doom hunters it is a cool concept and it was a boss now an enemy and this low bc there are better ones
3.marauder same thing for doom hunters
2.dark lord is a marauder but harder and that mean it is good
1. icon of sin it feels amazing and cool fighting something big a chunky for a final boss you know?
Davoth was the best fight because he basically throws you against every other demon in the entire game unless you stop him from doing so, and a mere image of what the Slayer would be if he continues his endless rage throughout millenniums. Almost as if to say if you live long enough you see yourself become the villain rather than die a hero.
Samur was the most satisfying fight as he betrayed you in Doom 2016 disguising himself as Samuel Hayden so it was a long brewing beat down since then.
The Khan Makyr was like the introduction to Doom Slayers capabilities and how strong he is by beating a Divine God.
Gladiator was just a sneaky preview of what to see in this new upcoming prequel.
Doom Hunter was overhyped to be a powerful demon designed to defeat the slayer as the game goes on he’s basically just another demon they add to make fights a little more challenging.
The Marauder is another hint at the new Prequel a demon from the slayers past who can almost match the slayers speed and some of his abilities.
The Icon of Sin is just what he is an ICONIC boss from past games and he is the Spectacle of the game showing that The Slayer can defeat Planet destroying level enemies
9:07 My favorite boss too!
I hated the gladiator, his instructions about green eyes don’t work all the time.
"my favourite battlemode map: orbital"
2:51 i love the transformers tritocon style of fighting
Trypticon?
The gladiator is literal hell on nightmare
Definitely the scariest boss on a UN run imo
My first Gladiator fight was buggy. Fought him for 30 minutes and never could stunned him. I started to doubt my reflexes. 😅 Restarted the game and finished him rather quickly.
Do you think the gladiator should be added to battlemode
Jack here, I’d love to play as the Gladiator but realistically itd be too mechanically difficult to map out. And for the most part Battlemode is dead, or at least on Xbox. To be fair Xbox is like a online multiplayer server graveyard so what do I know. Would be an awesome addition for sure though!
My favourite boss is actually the Dark Lord, as it feels like you’re fighting a lesser but almost similar version of yourself.
He has a sword, badass armour, literally looks exactly like you, and even has a gun on the opposite side of his shoulder to fire bombs at you.
Even the way he moves feels like he’s mirroring you in a way, and I like that. It’s definitely something I didn’t expect and I genuinely had to keep my head and hands on a swivel during my nightmare run.
Davoth should have been Doomguys rival battle in theory but really wasn’t
why did you include the marauder but not the trial of maligog
I feel like the Trial of Maligog is more of a sequence than a boss if that makes any sense
@@Cytonox yeah that’s true, it isn’t a boss it’s more of a bossfight like the doom hunters, but i still think it’s more of a boss than the marauder and is harder
My favorite is the gladiator to
Dark lord being the worst is a MASSIVE stretch
is it though?
