    A composer who, both in terms of his historical significance and the quality of his music, deserves to be heard more often. He was also probably Mozart's most influential teacher.

      Geoff Walker As a young boy, you are probably correct; as a mature composer, the impact of Haydn was probably more important and deeper than simply ‘influence’. Due to their stature, Mozart and Haydn challenged and stimulated each other in ways no other contemporary composers could ever hope to do.

    This is my favorite piece of music by Johann Christian Bach. The oboe fit his style of composition so perfectly. I wish that he had composed more music for oboe!

    Among the four sons of JSB, Johann Christian was the closest both to Mannheim and to Italian style. This can be vlearly heard in that concerto. I don't think that he could compete with his brother Carl Philipp Emmanuel, but I LOVE him (and Mozart loved him too).

    • @malcolmabram2957
      @malcolmabram2957 Před 5 lety +2

      I believe JC was almost unique. The so called Galante style. I have tried CPE but cant get into him. I love JS, but to me JC is delightful listening. How he was so different to his father is a bit of a mystery.

    • @gerardbegni2806
      @gerardbegni2806 Před 4 lety +1

      @@malcolmabram2957 Times evolved since JSB, who was considered as having a old-fashioned style by the Council of Leipzig. Due to circumstances, JC asopted that kind of style which was close to his public's tastes, while CPE followed a more experimental way, just as Haydn: there are a lot of common concerns Try the F # minor fantasy of CPE; it could rank among the best pieces of Haydn and Mozart. Beethoven asked many times to his publisher to send him scores by CPE. Try also the very capricious WF Bach.

      @malcolmabram2957 Před 4 lety +1

      @@gerardbegni2806 Thank you. I listened to this as played by Robert Hill. Must admit, not my taste, but was able to appreciate it. CPE was clearly ahead of his time. My taste is more like Sinfonia Concertante in C by JC. Listen to this quite a lot. In fact my picture is really a portrait of JC. He looks so happy.

    Johann Christian Bach
    est un compositeur et organiste allemand, né à Leipzig le 5 septembre 1735 et mort àLondres le 1er janvier 1782. Il fut surnommé le « Bach de Milan » et le « Bach de Londres ». Certains ouvrages français l'appellent « Jean-Chrétien Bach ».
    Biographie partielle
    Jeunesse et première formation musicale
    Johann Christian Bach est le onzième et dernier fils de Johann Sebastian et d'Anna Magdalena Bach. Ses premiers enseignements musicaux sont assurés par son père, mais aussi vraisemblablement par le cousin de celui-ci, Johann Elias Bach, qui habite chez les Bach de 1738 à 1743 et aide Johann Sebastian en lui servant de secrétaire.
    Après la mort de son père en 1750, il se rend à Berlin auprès de son demi-frère Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, alors claveciniste à la cour du roi Frédéric II. Johann Christian y reçoit alors un nouvel enseignement musical de la part de son demi-frère, mais y subit aussi l’influence du maître de chapelle de la cour, Carl Heinrich Graun.

    This concero exosts under several versions eor various instruments. The forem of the conceros and concertant symphonies Johann Christian Bach and other simila somposers was always the same, so we knox in ascance when the soloist ot the rurri will enter. The style of Johann Christian Bach was rather mellow, something between the German and Italian style. Johann Christian Bach had a gear infleunce on the child Moeart, who wrote a moving letter to his farger when he knew rgar rhe composer has passed away. A,t indeed, soething of the woenerdul Mozartian synrthesis seems ro begin here.
