I think Eddie is spot on with the Ice Bucket Challenge. I genuinely didn't even *know* it had a charity backbone until long after the meme had run its course, and that was precisely because it grew beyond its intended purpose. People were doing it for publicity and showmanship, public figures were doing it not for the charity impact but to be seen as 'hip' by the people watching... for all the impact it should have had, it ended up just being, as Eddie puts it, "Ha ha... cold water."

I don’t know why but this was funnier to me written out lol.
No matter how many times I see that dress picture, I never see either color people say. It's always periwinkle and bronze for me. Not gold and white, not black and blue, but somewhere in the middle. Every time, when they had the photoshopped pics to show what other people saw, and asked which we saw, I always saw a third color set that nobody else saw.
There is such a thing as tetrachromacy in humans. It's a rare mutation which adds a 4th type of cone cell (the colour photoreceptors) in the retina on the human eye, one that has its peak of sensitivity in the "true yellow" nanometer frequency in the electromagnetic spectrum. Normally, humans and other apes and monkeys are trichromates: we only have three types of cone cells which have their receptivity peaks in the spectrum of "visible light" in nanometer ranges that our eyes and brain interprets as red, blue and green; but because the spectral range of cone cells overlaps, our brain can perceive a multitude of colour hues from that.
