A Maserati voltou às corridas de carros esportivos em 2004, entrando no Maserati MC12 no Campeonato FIA GT. Desde 2005, o MC12 da Vitaphone Racing Team venceu cinco campeonatos de equipes e quatro campeonatos de pilotos consecutivos.
Michael Bartels e Andrea Bertolini venceram o inaugural Campeonato Mundial GT1 para Pilotos no Campeonato Mundial FIA GT1 2010 pilotando um Maserati MC12 para a Vitaphone Racing Team. A Vitaphone Racing Team venceu o GT1 World Championship for Teams.

A Maserati participou do automobilismo de Fórmula 1 durante as décadas de 1940, 1950 e 1960. Seu programa de Fórmula 1 foi amplamente bem-sucedido, proporcionando um total de 9 vitórias em Grandes Prêmios para a equipe de fábrica.[2] Além disso, Juan Manuel Fangio venceu o Campeonato Mundial de Pilotos de 1957 com um Maserati 250F.
A Maserati projetou dois carros de Fórmula 1: o Maserati 4CLT e o Maserati 250F, e o Maserati 4CL pré-Segunda Guerra Mundial também foi usado com algum sucesso. O Maserati 4CLT 1948 foi um dos primeiros carros construídos de acordo com os novos regulamentos da Fórmula 1, introduzidos em 1946, e foi desenvolvido a partir do carro voiturette Maserati 4CL de 1938. O design mais antigo ainda era competitivo apesar do hiato da Segunda Guerra Mundial e entrou nas corridas de Fórmula 1 quando as corridas foram retomadas após a guerra. I can only speak for myself, but my 08 GT has been impeccable. I worry about 2 issues I have come across on line regarding the camshaft variators and the hose behind the engine between the firewall. I have inquired numerous indy and Maserati shops on how to be proactive instead of reactive.. Due to the cost of repair and have basically been told. "DEal with it"....

Maserati sold themselves short in this video because they failed to mention the following achievements in racing: 1937-1940 Targa Florio they placed first, second and third. Also won five times the AAA Indy championship 1939, 1946-48 and 1950. 1st place at the 12 hours of Sebring in 1954 and 1957. Class win at Le Man's in 1958. SCCA National sports car champion in 1955. USAC Road Racing sports car champion in 1960.

Maserati has always been the gentlemens choice. Like someone who was very well dressed, but no one could tell the details. So I cannot find a reason for that dramatic Darth Vader voice narrating. Be it, the cars and history speak for themselves with a more noble timbre. Grazie.

Why no mention of the 1957 sports car race in Caracas?
I thought the works team consisted of two 450s cars and a 350s? And after that is when Maserati decided to pull the plug.

The early Biturbo deserves mention for having the WORST cylinder head design in the history of overhead cam engines. If you've ever seen one, you'll know what I mean. Seriously, what were they thinking?
