  • In this video we show the capabilities of a Mitsubishi Smart Multi. We are able to pair one outdoor unit with minisplit heads, as well as Mitsubishi's Dual Fuel Intelli-HEAT Coil that we are able to add to an existing or new gas furnace. This system is going to be HUGE in the PNW as it allows us extreme flexibility and consumer savings as we transition to heat pump systems from existing gas systems.

That house certainly was difficult (I was there). It is a blessing to have such great companies in Whatcom County to elevate each other and stretch ourselves and our designs. I hope to run into you some day and say hello!

Will this work with a communicating furnace like carrier or Bryant?

I would greatly appreciate an in depth video on how you wired the coil relay panel to the furnace, company I work at just sold one and I am having trouble finding guidance with the set up and wiring

How does this Mitsubishi communication box wire up? traditional R,C,G,W,Y connections or does it actually communicate via a green phoenix connection for that carrier infinity furnace?

Do you need a variable speed blower or can it be installed on a PSC motor on that gas furnace?

I'd love to know the answer to this. I can't find any info to clarify if a variable speed blower adds any value with the Intelli-Heat, or if it doesn't have the ability to truly utilize/control the variable speed blower in a furnace.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. One question I have is whether the zones of a multi-zone system are assumed to be closed off from one another? If the answer is no, it would seem like the units in the different zones would be “fighting” each other.

Can the customer control the switchover point-ie what temp the heat pump turns off and gas furnace turns on? Not sure I want to run my heat pump at low temperatures to prevent excess wear on compressor. Hyperheat rated to negative 5 f but not sure that is good for it.

No, customer has no control. Can't even manually switch to backup heat. It seems the heat pump always tries to heat for a while. If it doesn't detect a significant temperature rise in the return air it switches to backup heat.

@@garygilbreath2218 That simply is not true. Switchover points are all customer configured in the setup in the controls. You have compressor lock out temp as well as other output/ input set point capabilities.
