  • A number of years I unknowingly bought a fake Shure SLX wireless microphone off of craigslist. This was about a decade ago and this mic has always had issues. I'm making this video to potentially help someone who may be interested in buying mics and not getting ripped off.

I didn't realize Shure had been around as long as they have. I saw show credits for a show the Allman Brothers Band did and it had Shure mics listed, back in September of '71

I don’t know what it is about the word microphone in a guitar channel’s video title that summons the crickets but dang if that isn’t an irrefutable truth! I did a mic demo today that is eating it- I’ve done others that did the same low numbers. Unlike you in this video I did get a genuine free Tonor microphone out of it!it’s a bummer about mic vids but I do feel a little better seeing even a big channel having similar results. That sucks that you got ripped off. I have a video next week about a guitar that I shipped USPS that vanished - seems like a lot of people out there doing others wrong.

You are right. I have done a few mic videos and they don't do well. I thought because I have been doing all of the fake guitar videos that a fake mic video would also do ok. I guess the algorithm disagrees. lol

I know this is old, but the bottom screw on the battery cover is already cheap with genuine Shure Mic.

For today's the replica is very good. You just know where to buy. You just got the bad one when they lock tight the grille covers that mean it's a defective unit not passing the quality check
Some shure microphone parts are from China just esembles in Mexico. Shure microphone are over priced! 1 SM58 cost them $10 to build

yes sm58 completely way overprice! $40 still reasonable. more than that is way too much

@@rsgr3963 I no long use the SM-58, it's don't sound as clear as the other Mic when compared with the replica E935 Sennheiser which cost $40 including shipping

I might be guilty of "creating" fakes........ I've had people bring me broken Shure mics (legit) and wanted them fixed cheaply, so I put an aftermarket capsule in them. They worked fine, but technically it wasn't a legit Shure anymore. The customer was happy, and I told them that I used an aftermarket part to fix it....

LMFAO ....Kennis, ....for f&*k sake, for someone who carries on sooo much about fake items, you should know that you DON'T just buy stuff off some shady dude you just met up with. ...You go to a REAL music shop and buy whatever need .....and it WILL come with a warranty, so if you have any issues it WILL be sorted out. By the way your mic must have been a very good fake to last you a decade !!!

Fake products are heavy in weight and have different materials. Of course, the sound is different, and the arrangement of the capsule's parts is different.
