The Rogue One table is genius.
Also the rounded corner building, it's lovely.
So many tables there that I didn't see. Those Drowned Earth tables looked amazing. They should have won an award. Wish your D-Day board could have been there.
maybe next year ;-)
I really appreciate that you also give credits to other builders Mel! Great respect.
I absolutely love that X-wing glass table with the multiple layers!
That storage box made me love but it is quite clever because you can put all the stuff back inside the box.
Credit where it's due bud
With the X-Wing board, there is at least a partial build log on the Lead Adventure Forums...
photobucket killed all the build images on that thread but I reposed them to my blog along with a breakdown of some of the methods and materials used if you're still interested.
mystarikum.blogspot.co.uk/
Fenris Descending at 6.48 was my game, what didn't get mentioned was that all 114 robots were scratch built along with 95% of what was on the table. The rocks in particular are made from a foam yoga block :)
That's an amazing feat mate
Glad you liked my x-wing table! :)
that was epic mate
Where did you get the glass?
It's acrylic, Just got it off the internet. there's endless sites that you can order custom sized sheet plastic from.
nice, how does one attach them together without discoloring them?
the acrylic play surfaces just sit on the structure frame, they aren't bolted on or connected. I designed it like that to allow easier takedown/set up.
Its amazing to see how much effort people put into this tabletops.
Overjoyed to see you shot our humble "Papers Please" games (34:30) - wish I'd seen you. Btw the roads and buildings are all Slug Industries, the flock is a home mix not 4ground and the trees are Debris of War.
No worries bud :-)
This is the best coverage of Salute. Firstly you cover all the awesome tables, and secondly you edit it with great still shots, instead of the wobbly camera between tables. Top notch work mate.
You should see the Salute 2015 vid mate, I've come a long way!
Yup!
Mel THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! You do SUCH A GREAT JOB at showing us the best of the BEST tables Buddy!!!!! You have INSPIRED so many people!!!!! A lot of what you see there I BET you helped them on via your channel!!! Again GREAT JOB!!!!!!!:)
Thanks buddy :-D
Great idea to include these HQ pics of the tables - nicely done again :) You know exactly what terrainiacs like :)
I thought the video finished after 15 minutes but to my surprise I had been watching 45 minutes. Awesome video Mel! Thank you.
much love mel! this type of coverage of the hobby is what we need more of, truly exciting stuff, your enthusiasm in particular is part of what has got me back in to the hobby over the past 2 years
Awesome sauce matey!
I travelled from Australia to be there. I wish I had the chance to say hello.
Great Set Ups, Tons of Cool Ideas! Pure Magic Madness! Thanks for Posting. BB

It's what I do mate

Glad it helps bud
TheTerrainTutor it really does thankyou once again. I hope to meet you one day. You're an inspiration!
I'm often at salute mate!
Thanks for the kind words about my Gaslands board! I watched a bunch of your videos whilst working on it, in particular following your "Texturing gaming boards with filler (spackle)" guide for making the dried up river bed. Sorry I wasn't at the table when you stopped by so I could say thanks!
Cheers!
No wrries mate, nice board
Nice to see the boards in the vid so some good help with ideas, them barriers on the second infinity board are from AT43 loved them and wanna find some more.
thank you mel really appreciate what u done
Man alive! Some beautiful displays and terrain there Mel. I got into this hobby a few years back now to do the whole terrain and mini thing but I have become bogged down in army painting and got a little too enthusiastic tbh. I can only dream of the day my armies are finished and I can get into terrain building like I wanted to originally. All my stuffs premade buildings and even a cityscape board and although its nice there is just something special about scratch built tables. I even have 90% of the materials sitting waiting on me getting started! At this rate I'll be 110 yo before I get going !! Thanks Mel :)
Do it! Crack on! :-D
Very good video! Thank you for your work! Greetings from Germany!
Always liking your vid's keep on going and make us dream of all plays and table :)
I appreciate the table walk through.. Thank you/
That Jurassic Park table was insane.

Bexley Reapers always do a good table and jolly nice blokes too.
Nice video tour. "It works really well!!"
Amazing tables 10/10 ...salut TheTerrainTutor for a great vid...
That hessian table at 23:00 is an amazing idea!!!!!
I particularly love jungle and overgrown terrain, I wish I could make them
Infinity tables look great. You can do a whole blade runner theme with that game.
Thank you
Great selfie with Duncan! If you two produced a model/terrain combo I'm not sure the universe could handle the awesome ;-)
thx for sharing..
Thanks Man
fantasic video !
love love love the boards at 10:30
The table at 20:59+ is based on the XCom computer game, and looks very good at that :-)
È um conhecimento muito além da imaginação.
Wow awesome stuff! Get you meeting Duncan :D
I know :-D
Great video, really captured the show, unfortunately could not make it this year so was great to see what terrain was on show.. spot on mate. Those nice hex boards you liked were mine :) didn't even know they would be there, big surprise seeing them in the video. Great stuff
Nice work as always bud
Thanks, great video :) I know how much work went into that as did one myself many moons ago.
Im a model railroader.. i watch your channel cuz lots of info/technics transfer over. Also always appreciate you personality. Thx for showing this , not my cup of tea..lolol but still pretty damn cool modeling.
Awesome stuff... :O
Yes, very nice..
I love how complimentary Mel is to everyone. I love how the English are more easy going then some of their colonists. (
Hudson & Allen make some nice castles.
Very nice show and well presented. The photographs are amazingly well lighted compared to the video-parts. What camera and/or settings did you use for the photographs?
my phone on auto mate
I belive the one that you may have thought was war of the roses was playing a tabletop. Eraion of xcom 2
I often wonder how people who fought in these major wars like the Civil War and WW1 and WW2 would feel like if they knew people today played games based on these major events. I served in the U.S. Army for many years and I was deployed to Iraq 3 times. All 3 times I hated being there and just couldn't wait to get back home. Being there I just tried to focus on doing my job right and making sure my operators rode in as safe as possible vehicles when they rolled outside the wire. And If I had to go outside the wire it was usually to recover these guys after something happened. I always dreaded those calls because I never knew before I got there how bad the situation would be. Most of the times they were bad but not terrible. Terrible did happen sadly but its something you burry inside and just try to focus on the current job before you. But now that's all behind me and I have had time to think about what happened there and I guess maybe mellow out some. If you had asked me back when things were still fresh in my memory and I was still filled with all of the emotions I was back then I don't think my answer would be as forgiving if I was told people played games based on events I was a part of. Back then I had the sadness of losing too many friends and other things still fresh in my mind. But I am older and while I will always have that part of me with me till the day I die. I think my answer now is that its only natural for people to find ways to remember past wars and conflicts. And I think table top war gaming is a respectful way of doing things. I used to play BattleTech and a couple other table top games before I joined the Army. But when you start talking about games that deal with actual battles and wars then you are dealing with material where actual people fought and died. I think being in war has removed allot of the little boy romanticism I had with all things WW2. Once I saw what it really was like and felt the loss of friends. I learned its not just pictures in a book. Or black and white new reels. There is a level of suffering and pain that is attached to those events. And you haft to be respectful of those people and their sacrifices they made. I am currently getting back into gaming and I have no doubt I will deal with terrain making at some point. But no matter what my own personal experiences will shape how I see things going forward. And maybe alter choices I might have made if I hadn't seen first hand some of the things I have seen versus if I had never gone to war. Anyways thanks for the vids man. I enjoy them and your terrain works and advice on making them.
great to meet you again mel, good to see i made the selfie hall of fame
you always do mate
The medieval Wall with big towers at The gate, was that new sarissa precision stuff?
4ground mate
Oh thats right Fabled Realms stuff! Can't wait! Do you think they will be released soon?
Some tables have way to much on them, each unto their own. I believe in the "Less Is More" adage, although the ideas are fantastic. :)
The 19:30 laser-cut buildings are TTCombat, I think.
Need to know how to make those trees at 39:00
Any idea what the game system on the Oshiro table is called. The models look sweet.
No idea mate, email them and ask
Hey Mel, how many feet tall and how many inches deep would I need to plan for an Arch De Triumph approximation for 40K scale would you say? I have only ever seen pics from a distance but love the idea for a Shrineworld board.
It's 50m high (wiki), so at 40k scale, you'll need it about a metre high mate to keep it in scale
yeah warhammer is roughly 1:50 scale.
Having said that, the arc de triomphe is ridiculously oversized. If you look at other triumphal arches like the marble arch, that is about 15m, which is 1ft or 30cm.
You can make it taller by putting a statue on top, as generally they were designed as a plinth too, if you feel 1ft is not impressive enough.
The table @14:35 reminds me of some
Turkish guys back hair... just green...
Mel - Ever consider coming to the States for Historicon?
Can't afford it mate
6:50... What game is it??? Fenris descending? I can´t find anything about this
shame you didnt catch anvil industries table, they really bring it.
HI Mel, I heard you mention wire war trees a few times but what are wire war trees I can't find them anywhere online? Are they a manufacturer? love the channel, best wishes, J
Wire wool trees mate ;-)
aaaaahhhhhhh =)
Ahhh so many wargames are already mades, but my favorite game is already probably totaly death. Rest In Peace Warzone Mutant Chronicels.
I know, here is the Warzone Resurection, but that suckers made models one inch higher, so we (players of old Warzone) can´t combine models from Resurection with old models from clasic Warzone :( . Was been some Warzone games on Wargames Show 2017?
What does he say after you ask him if it is a warlord fort?
Who are the guys at 9:06? Seems to be called Warsong, but can't find anything by that name.
+harkano wolsung
LETS CRACK ON!
Did i miss you go to your Turf War Z table in this video?
Nope but looks like you did mate ;-D
I wish your video quality was the same as the quality of your photos.
I wish I could afford 4k cameras mate
can anyone tell me what the vietnam game at 8:40 is?
wery nise
20:30 maaa boiiii
I thought the white hair at about 4:35 was a cloud :')
Wait Wait Wait, is that a Jurassic park miniatures game?
Yep!
21:20
X-COM
what is the game at 11:10 called?
Drowned Earth its on Kickstarter at the moment
Hey Mel, what was the warehouse terrain called at 9:00?
Sebastian B this is the Wolsung terrain from Micro Arts Studio.
Thanks heaps, my searching for 'Warsong' just wasn't finding anything...
@ 31:00 who makes the castle?
www.renedra.co.uk/productlist.php?category=3&secondary=34
A-ma-zing, did I miss any Lord of the Rings battle wargames?
I didn't spot any mate
Nice tables but yall got nothing on us train guys
True but let me drop 3kg of lead and resin, rulebooks, heavy duty plastic army boxes and then push them around your display for a hundred or so hours. Train layouts are designed to be looked at, wargaming table are designed to be played with mate ;-)
You dont know how i run trains do you im a ruff old boy on my trains
Pack it in a car and take it to conventions do you? xD
why are there no age of sigmar tables😭😭
Because everyone misses 8th Edition
League MLG yeah you are right
Chris Vijn AoS is bad lmao. Kings of War ftw
A sad loss in my opinion. I do enjoy AoS a lot. Many big monsters would've been cool to see.
I was there, won't go again! A really good show ruined by the worst lighting I have ever encountered. This shows in the comparison between the video and the still pictures
Minute 42:00 sooo org...
Bin neidisch...
Grown men playing with toys ...
Shut up
