He was correct. :D - Every few years I'll raise a few and they are common at our place. Also raise bees, and that can get to be a stand-off. Hey Kevin, I just wanted to say thanks for your video. It truly helped me a bunch! I recently got a xmas tree and apparently there was a nest or Something on the tree. After about a week I came home to about what seemed like a 100 of them roaming about. I collected as many as I could save. About 50. I have them in 3 old clean wonton soup containers. Should I divide each mantis to it's own cup? I can get cups fairly easy. Obviously I am no expert and I didn't wanna kill them. So I tried to save as many as I could. Also there from the northeast Ohio area. Not sure what specific type but they are brown and green. Thanks for any help!

My daughter and I found a wild Carolina mantis this past summer. We let it go in my flower bed, and it literally walked back over to us...twice. So we took her inside, and found it was amazingly tame. She would allow us to hand feed her, and seemed to enjoy hanging out on our sleeves, shoulder, etc. She ended up laying 3 egg sacs, a week or so in-between, before passing about a month later. From the first egg sac, 6 babies hatched 4 days ago, and another 6 came out last night. From what I've read, there could be 50-100 in each sac, and all 3 appear fertile. I'm not equipped to care for 300 baby mantids. So my question is this, do you keep your babies in those 2oz deli cups, or should I go ahead and put them in the large cups? We have about 2 more weeks before it would be safe to let them outside. Unless you'd like to have the other 2 egg sacs, in which case I'd happily send them to you.

I thought about getting a mantis for a while. Then a huge one (probably female) somehow magically appeared in my room last summer. It flew and landed on my air conditioner, I actually thought it was a bat at first! Took half an hour of using a large plastic container, a roll of Christmas wrapping paper, and a barking terrier mix to get that thing out the window. Didn't want one anymore. Now I'm interested in them again. It seems like they aren't to hard to take care of and wouldn't get out of the cup.

I figure if there are a dozen or more that can hatch from this egg case then I can keep a few for breeding purposes (I suppose I will need to catch a few more for ideal genetic diversity health purposes...) and then release the rest into my garden. I suppose I may be giving them an advantage by protecting them through their first instars ??? At what instar should I release them to give them the most advantage? Anyway how did u say I can order flys from u to feed them?

Awesome video! We would like to meet you! You look like an interesting person! :) We found a large 4-5" praying mantis last fall and let her live on a small amber lampshade from Poland. We have many videos of her eating and playing! She lived in our home on the lamp for a couple months and had 2 ootheca s, which we put in the refrigerator. Two days ago, we took one out and made an aquarium with sticks therein. We now see that we need to put some cloth on our homemade screen that is duck-taped around the aquarium. We wonder now, if perhaps the 10 gallon aquarium is too large? My husband Stephane does art and would like to share some of his art with you if you would like, and we drive his and her-ses?

I wanted to just order a single mantis but it was more economical to order an oothica. This is in the reguards of the Pink Mantis (Stagmomatis Californica), Green Preying Mantis (Mantis religiosa) or theChinese Preying Mantis (Tenodera sinensis). I have seen these 3 in my garden of irises at the same time and was just wondering. Would like to know if this is possible or if they would attack one another?

What brand cold pack do you ship with? Im worried about the longevity of the pack... and temps as Im from FLorida where things cook rather than stay chilled.

From your website which is best for a baby mantid cloth lid, vented lid, or the bug ladders you have for sale?? It says the bug ladders help mantids with shedding so I'm confused in why there's two different lids if the mantid can just use the vented lid and the bug ladder for shedding unless I'm wrong please let me know? Hope this makes sense thank u

will they do great in a paludarium? or will the mantis hunt the fishes? I’m talking about neon tetras and guppy sized.
