Became a Scientologists after watching this film!
I love that the film portrays the enemy not as bad guys just as adversaries. I think you can clearly see all enemy pilots ejecting safely.
That second guy had nowhere near the altitude or clearance from that rock face to get a full canopy. Especially with the weight of the seat and delay from seperation. He's dead.
But I think never showing the adversaries' faces was a way of dehumanizing them, 'they're not human, just faceless baddies we must stop"
@@davidmurphy1207So is the third guy
@@davidmurphy1207 If we're going by that level of realism, Maverick died several times in this movie, and the happy ending is just the last of his brain neurons flashing before the darkness envelops them.
@1:55 That first pilot definitely got blown away with the friendly missile.
I'm naturally skeptical of sequels, but this film had me crying.
Snowflake?
@@somenteasescrituras4064 Onions for sure
This was probably the last time we’ll ever see an F14 on the big screen and my god to see it kicking ass one last time.. what a swansong for the silver screen career of a fantastic aircraft

As someone who served in the Air Force & aircraft current mechanic I truly appreciate the flight maneuvering & weapons capabilities in this scene.
Why don't you say that a little louder for those armchair 'experts' at the back - almost everyone around these parts is jeering at this dog fight scene. I mean, c'mon...Mav and Rooster were in deep shit with two SU-57s on their tail! They're in a Tomcat for crying out loud. It's not because of Cruise's plot armour that they made it out alive, it was the pilots' superior skills and Mav's 'tude. He never plays by the rules (hence the callsign, man!) This was the fight of Mav's life - his best friend's son was with him! Mav went for broke here.
As someone who served in the Air Force & aircraft current mechanic do you think leftists, Arabs, europeans, and all the other enemies of America hate this movie?
Do you make good money as a aircraft mechanic? I would love it if my son joined Air Force.
As someone who played ace combat on Xbox 360, I agree.
The gun sounds are horrible though. You would think they would at least get that detail since it’s kind of a movie about flying…
That move by the 5th gen fighter pilot at 2:40 is just mind blowing and took balls, even Mav seemed impressed :)
the reason I found this clip:)))
When I first saw that maneuver, I was like holy shit he did not just do that I was also there watching the movie with my dad. I will never forget that awesome experience.
@@jaxbrown1064 I honestly had to watch it a couple of times to even comprehend it 😂
It’s a film
@@Totalavulsion rly? You must be fun to watch movies with..
"Come on, Mav! Do some of that pilot shit!"
Rooster sounds just like his dad!
Goddamn. That first shot where Maverick banks and just rakes his cannon fire across that first fighter in one fluid motion is so goddamn cool. Like you even see his wingman flinch startled, not just because of what happened, but because the shock that he's dealing with a stone cold killer in the other cockpit.
Jesus is the only way! He is coming soon so be ready!
I think that's my favorite scene in the entire movie. It's like Mav is saying, "Fine, I might go down, but I'm taking one with me."
@@mrmkraemer Hell yeh! It's so badass.
I absolutely loved that opening move!
That dodge move by the other pilot was crazy
Yup, but just like Rooster implied: he’s got the better plane, but you’re the better pilot
@@ryanwiuff2374and it’s better movie
It is called the Pugachev's cobra.
@@user-zp6ff2gr4n that is not Pugachev's cobra, that's falling leaf maneuver.
@@Exchiefboy its called the kvocher's bell
0:46 Not sure, but I think this means "Go home" or "Return"
and at 0:52 he is doing "3-3-0", a compass bearing.
So I think he is saying: "Return to base, bearing 330."
You are right.
That actually makes a LOT of sense. But wouldn´t they get suspicious immediately, if the F14 would not comply?
@@tomtom34b that's why they moved into weapons envelope.
But is it a different signal for different countries?
Actually no. In order to reduce accidents most of the world has standardized aviation related signals and codes.
Craziest scene is 2:08 - Mav is using the falling Su-57 as missile decoy.
Didn't see it the first time I watched the movie...
3:32 I’m watching and rewatching this piece, the way he opens the wings up, flies upwards and then downwards defying high G forces is incredible. The sound effects are awesome!
Me too mahn ✌️
Except the Gatling guns. They should have used real sounds it would’ve been so much better
@@Wendys___I think the ammo also went away a bit too quickly, it’s 676 rounds immediately went to like 130 ps if the Su57 is running that good old gsh-30-1 the second pilot would have shot all the ammo by the time the planewas shot down
If this was real, Maverick would be awarded two Congressional Medals of Honor at the same time and be declared Admiral of the Navy in the same sitting.
The fact he was willing to sacrifice himself to save the other pilot was perfect and tied it all together so perfectly.
2:45 The way the 5th generation aircraft stopped in the air to dodge the missile gave me goosebumps
the su 57 is just so beautiful.
2:44 if the rest of the movie didnt show you how cool fighter jets are, that move did
The 5th generation fighters are called *Sukhoi Su-57*
If I remember correctly they were named that because of copyright issues.
@@funnyman4311who cares anymore... We're basically at war with Russia and all the real ones were shot down by Ukraine 🤣
Sugoi sugoi Su-57
And they're Russian. For the record, everyone knew this.
DONT MATTER WHAT THEY CALL THEY FALLEN FROM THE SKY IN THEIR WAR
It wouldve been cool if Maverick accidently called Rooster - Goose because he was so caught up in it
The reaction at 2:50 was the best.
Maverick "What The" when the SU 57 commits the cobra maneuver... My favourite part of the movie.
This scene is so badass of both mav and the other pilot. They are both basically doing the high speed canyon run again which most of the Top Gun students struggled to do, but also while focusing on shooting each other
It’s not the same canyon
@ThatGingerGuy51 he was basically saying that whilst the newer pilots struggled to do the canyon run, maverick, and the 5th Gen pilot were doing it no problem. Whilst the added variable of trying to kill each other
Fun fact:
The SU 57 pilot is signaling them to fly Heading 3 3 0
To me, this is the best part of the whole movie. It is extremely exciting.
The cheers in the theater on that Splash 2…man. Give us another one Cruise…
2:10 at that point the enemy pilot is probably furious at Maverick audacity and skill.
God this fight was incredible. Even as someone who didn’t watch the first one, this was amazing to watch!
At 0:53 My cousin thought he said "Alright you got 30 seconds til I shoot you" 😂😂🤣
@@MarekSVK81 No, his first signal is 'change heading' or 'follow me'. I'm pretty sure it's change heading. Second signal is a, heading 330 (North-North West). Common aviation frequencies are up to five digits with emergency or Guard frequency (an internationally agreed upon frequency for emergency aircraft communication around the world. Also used in intercept situations) being 121.50 MHz. Here's the exchange:
Maverick: 'Greetings! Our radio is broken, we cannot hear any transmissions'
SU-57 pilot: 'Change heading to 3-3-0'
The enemy 360 is awesome
That's how you make AN ACTION MOVIE!!
I enjoyed this scene. The whole movie has been drilling, up to this point, that, it is "not the plane, its the pilot." This scene demonstrates that very well. Dont know how experienced the enemy pilots are, but clearly no where near on Mavs level. Superior technology does not guarantee victory if the person using it does not know how to use it
3:35 The music in the background got intense when the wings were coming out.
This movie was great. Not as iconic as the original Ofcourse, but a better movie and plot overall
This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen!
I am really impressed with the CGI still shots - that Su-57 looked like as real as it can be
I can't wait for Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 on July 14th (2022).
And Part 2 on May 23rd in 2025.
wait I missed it?
Uh. It's actually July 14th of this year. (2023)
2:07 Seeing this in theaters, this move was so amazing I could only laugh out loud. Third act kept me on the edge of my seat. Literally,
When Rooster says to Maverick every lesson Maverick ever taught him….
When Mav said brace yourselves after rooster said his dad's line, it's like Mav knew Goose was with them.
What a cool fighter scene. I love how the enemy pilots always have blacked out face shields. Gives them a more sinister look.
0:23 you can see the wings of the Tomcat shuddering as it flies over the turbulent mountains. Insane level of detail
pilot’s experience is the key 🇺🇸👍
You know what. The first time I watched this I was like come on. Ehhh. I watched it recently with fresh eyes and no expectations. It’s great now.
Think about it in Rocky terms. Maverick is basically the Apollo Creed of the Top Gun universe. The best fighter pilot in the world flies his ass off in a plane that he was extremely familiar with. It’s really fun to watch even if it’a not realistic. Tom Cruise and Company pulled off a miracle with Top Gun Maverick.
I've seen this scene a couple times at a restaurant, but could never hear it. Never knew he was telling his partner he would fight, if he wasn't there. Shows the bromance he has for him.
Well worth the wait for this sequel.

Still love this in 2024 !
That ammo counter may as well be referring to a flintlock compared to how fast the Vulcan fires
As a Russian fighter pilot who flew F-14's for Russia during World War 2 and the Great Roman Civil War I approve the maneuvering and realism of this Movie.
My God man how old are you?
I just imagine this scene with the Star Fox Corneria theme in the background.
"You would go after them if i wasnt here"
Haven't seen this type of intense and marvelous piloting/flying since 'SWAT Kats' 😂
Wave and Smile.
Man, Maverick is a flying samurai! 😮
1:13 Yes an F-14 can outrun a SU-57. 1:28 it’s actually the Jet but not the stealth. It’s the speed, maneuverability, weapon you have, and the weight of the Jet. If I was Rooster I would say this “ it’s not the plane. It’s the speed and the maneuverability.”
Oddy enough yea, the F-14 has a higher speed than alot of much newer jets. I don't know enough about this stuff to know why that would be
True or not there’s going to be a jet that can beat that aircraft that’s just the truth for you
You can't outrun the radar lock or the missile from the SU-57...
@@hansolo631the f14 was designed in a time of dogfighting where speed and maneuverability were how fights were decided. In the 5th gen fights are decided by who has better stealth and radar. You fight at ranged so far that you can't physically see your opponent so it makes your pure top speed less of a focus. Plus newer engines are designed to show less of a heat signature which helps them against heat sealing weapons but has drawbacks
He didn’t say the F-14 couldn’t outrun the SU-57. He said they can’t outrun their weapons.
This was a BLAST to see in the theaters :)
Mavs the best of the best..he knows the F14 he definitely could kick ass and he did👍🏻 him and roster. 2:08 brilliant move by mav.
Whether it was intended or not, that break in Miles Teller’s voice when he says dogfight perfectly conveys the realisation that they might not make it out of this alive
This would have made an awesome mission in Ace Combat
Man that's a great scene!
Extending wings out into a high G climb.. badass
This scene is still intense 😳
This fight scene makes the movie worth it
Movie was just incredible. I think Tom’s best
A pilot and RIO are one. The 2 kills that Maverick got from this dogfight counts for Rooster as well. So technically Rooster has 2 kills also. 3 actually if you count the Hind-D that he shot down before he himself got shot down.
This makes maverick an Ace.
Maverick was confirmed to have five kills. Rooster got three and Hangman got one.
I stood up in the theater like a crazy when he splashed 2... I then realized wtf am I doing its a movie 😅
Nothing wrong with a little honor....
My wife sank Into her seat
That sharp eyed young fighter should have seen MAVERICK on his helmet. And just let him go 😂
You can practically feel the G-Forces, Sound Design is awesome and the opponents are not dumb as fuck. I fuckin love it.
I love how music change dramatically after su 57 appear it's like horror music
I wish he would have said "Rooster, I have had about enough of this shit" lol
I originally thought the hang signals were part 1 of a towo part confirmation code for unknowns, similar to Star-Texas In MW2 emp part.
Hella impressive he took out two 5th gens with only guns.
That rotation at 2:45 though
Sensational !!!!
When goose left Maverick, that was horrible…. A good friend stays alive
phenomenal sound effects...
Top Gun ran on a loop when I was deployed in the Med
What the F was that?! Best line
I love how they relied on guns in the end over missiles.

this moment was SOOOO good... and its very nice to see that both pilots ejected... they were just soldiers..like them... not a bad guy...and they put up a good fight. Maverick used his skills and the suprise attack on the first one...
Until the 3rd one that hangman fucks up 😂
Whats interesting about Hangman coming to their rescue, is that he is known for leaving people out to dry, hence hus callsign.
That's the character arc. It's subtle, and flies past most viewers because of all the emotional and cinematic intensity of the ending scenes, but we get to see Hangman actually do something selfless, save his fellow wingmen despite knowing he'll get less credit for the victory. There's another subtle point of character development for Rooster, who was Hangman's philosophical rival in the script - rather than thanking Hangman for saving his life, he simply congratulates Hangman on "another kill" appealing to Hangman's ego rather than his humility. This shows that Rooster has grow beyond his resentment toward Hangman and is willing to acknowledge his skills as a pilot without critical bitterness. They've both changed as characters. It's such an understated example of good writing, but you definitely noticed. (:
1:37 “C’mon. It’s time to show’em who’s the real Top Gun, Maverick.”
I love the F-14. As much as I love it shouldn’t have stood a chance against the 57. What a great movie though. It’s a shame this will most likely be the last time we see the Tom Cat.

The only thing I dislike is that the music used in the movie during the dogfight isn't exactly as the Spotify version...
Other than that, this was a very good moment during the movie.
2:30: Idk, but this defensive maneuver was saying (from this enemy´s pilot´s pov): "I am not a rookie pilot. You got my partner by surprise, I am not even going to use defensive flares on this one. Let´s dance..."
dope
Endgame was my favorite but top gun maverick is just another level, because there's no CGI used in this movie
. Everything is just REAL AND SATISFYING!!!
Umm, no. There was cgi... That's why is it nominated for visual effects. Lmao
I don't think they actually flew through a railway bridge with Tom Cruise in the back
Endgame hasn't got shit on this and don't deserve to be in the same sentence as this masterpiece.
LOL, do you think they really had a Mach. 10 aircraft contributed in this movie?
LOL, do you think they really had Russian 5th generation fighter jet?😂
The stakes were so real..If it were anyone else but Rooster as co-pilot maybe Maverick would have been more willing to fight immediately but knowing that he played a part in his Goose's death made him really pause and wonder if he would be part of his son's death as well.
