This is incredible! I love those style so much. Not THAT different or crazy but gives you just enough uniqueness to set you apart
This type of narration is actually super helpful. I frequently watch CZcams while doing the dishes and don’t get to pay attention to every detail and so it’s nice to be able to focus on the relevant stuff and still follow the video because context of the cards being played is explained often enough that I don’t necessarily need to see the gameplay.
I really like hearing the thoughts behind certain plays. I've watched (c)EDH on yt for years just for fun without actually having a lot of chances to play, and this type of narration deepens my understanding of the game and the underlying strategic decisionmaking.
It's also really great that you're experimenting! Might be more fun for both us, the viewers, and for you! 😄
Love this type of content. Super clean presentation and execution!
Thanks!
I definitely like this style better-- by this point we all know the classic play patterns and its kinda cool to hear the inside scoop on what y'all have to say!
I enjoyed this narration style a lot. The classic style is also good, but a change of pace is always nice as well as highlighting cool plays and strategies. 10/10, would watch again
That Culling Ritual was *brutal*. You love to see it.
I liked the spin on the narration, and appreciated learning the mana vault interaction!
I'm surprised I didn't find you guys before your hiatus, but I'm glad I did now!
Loved seeing that play untapping the mana vault AFTER the tangle wire trigger, and I liked how you broke it down too. I feel like that was a major difference in the outcome!
Keep it coming! I've enjoyed this video format.
This kind of content is enjoyable, I would like to see more
The commentary reminds me of the 1v1 tournament coverage I've been missing over the last few years. A lot of level up moments for me as a player come from this kind of analysis and retrospective. Great video!
I prefer the common narration style, but this was really good and really fast. I would watch more videos like this.
I am so glad y’all are back!!!! I’ve really missed your style of commander! I also like this as a speed run style video, but I’d still like longer narrated games as well.
This video was super informative! thank you!
I did enjoy the note on upkeep triggers between Tangle Wire and Mana Vault. I don't think I would have caught that.
No Estrid? You've done me and the Estrid Stax discord dirty! Seriously though - great video!
Dang guys when did you start doing videos again??? My favorite mtg channel back in the game and going strong, well casually strong.
As someone who still hasn't actually played any cEDH yet (still working on building decks), this type of video seems really helpful to learning the format. Granted, the regular ones do too but I don't imagine having a stack go 8 deep in a counter war happens as often as those might make it seem.
I do like both formats of narration. Maybe a quick replay of the game after the explanation to see the gameplay actually unfold
I like to watch listen cedh gameplays while doing cardio, and the repetitive aspect of the plays became a bit boring, so this quick narration style is a godsend
BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL
Excellent and entertaining game!
Amazing narration structure
Cool concept👍
I dig this. Way better, actually
Are you guys interested in Oathbreaker gameplay?
I would say you should have explained the chain of smog combo as not everyone would be aware you can target yourself and do not need valid cards to discard
Great Game!
I love Tanglewire in my Sygg, River Cutthroat deck, it's a Stax/Discard/Weenies deck that tends to win via payoffs for small hands/discard. It's my 'Union Tactics' deck, and while it's hilarious when it works, it doesn't always so it's fine with a Rule 0. I'm always curious about it in cEDH OG Zur, I feel like that deck is meant to be played slower and grindier, not sure why people think it's has to be a Consultation deck when Zur can find halves of umpteen combos that use already good cards. Do you see people running Malevolent Hermit/Dovescape often? Both are great cards in Zur, but I don't see them very often, same with Wandering Archaic.
What kind of camera r u using to record ur games?
More of this style
so you turned into a 100% cEDH channel
I prefer the usual style, but thank you for trying new things!
The wrong saheeli pops up in the deck introductions.
I like the new narration style, but I know a lot of people don’t feel the same. What you can do is have multiple ‘series’ where one is an in-depth narration and another is the regular content. You can use the throw away games for the in-depth videos and continue to use the normal games for other content. Just an idea.
5:13 shouldnt adam have tapped dihada to the tanglewire too technically? Like it obviously does nothing but its just a silly thing to have happen in a cedh pod.
tbh adam could've just -3 for 4 treasures instead of just accepting the legendary permits since dhida is a may. and he should have at least made a treasure off of oppo agent going to the battlefield
cool
Why doesn't Joseph play anymore? 😞
good
I liked the fast narration but also feel like the more explanation type ones could also be faster. Age of wavering attention spans i guess. Over all I enjoyed this. I used to have a Saheeli stax deck. I currently have a Grist deck and I keep looking at Minsc.
Yeah I think one of the biggest things we will take a look for the next one is smoothing out the overall flow of the narration. Thanks for the feedback!
Im for one prefer the classic narration style but would like to still keep more explanation when needed.
Is that an inferno cape on your wall? 😳
I think the game would be significantly improved if the board wipe was accompanied by the space mine sound effect from Attack of the Clones
I like the in-depth talk about tactics and thought processes. But it's a bit slow? But in all honesty, I'll watch any video you upload :)
Tangle Wire is so good.
Very true
In theory I like the idea of planeswalkers here, but two players didn’t even use them and only one was really effective at all. I feel that it can’t really be called a planeswalker match if the decks are really just other combos ignoring their commanders…
2:35 you cant just target nothing. A triggered ability needs a legal target and (nothing) does not qualify as a legal target
I feel like a longer video where you say everything like you usually do but also commentate the important things like you did in this video would be better. This is just my opinion though.
I do understand that this is asking for a lot as it’s a lot more editing on your end
Nice comments about the cards and plays but kind of awkward all the waiting to see the next play
Yeah this was more of an experiment but we are definitely going to work on smoothing out the play by play to make it easier to follow
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG awesome match for an experiment! The scientific way is like this, you need to try it out in the real world to work with the materialism!
I think I prefer the classic narration style... stopping on a particular play for too long kind of disrupts the flow of the game for me.
Completely understandable, we definitely will be taking a look at the pacing if we do this again to try to make the flow of the game easier to follow. Thanks for the feedback!
Well remember, this is additional content. It’s not a change, it’s an addition. More content is a win for me :)
I agree with you, because it goes from too fast to too slow. But I can understand that its also an adition for those games that are just too shorts adding value.
I'm on the fence with the narration this time but it may just be due to it being something different. I'd like to see it used a few more times to really make up my mind on it especially as you smooth it out. I'm not going to say I don't like it, it's just different.
I don't understand the how the game ended.
Nate L was able to generate 11 mana with his culling ritual and two more with ancient tomb so he's at 13 total, peer through depths drew him half his deck. He then had 6 mana left and drew into chain of smog and witherbloom apprentice. he cast witherbloom, then targeted himself repeatedly with chain of smog, which triggered witherbloom's magecraft trigger repeatedly until his opponents were dead. Hope that helps
Chain of Smog can target the caster, and thus one can infinitely copy it even after having no cards in hand. Each time you copy the Chain of Smog you trigger the magecraft ability of Witherbloom Apprentice, who drains 1 life from each opponent each time. (It also works with Professor Onyx, who drains 2 on magecraft, is mono black but costs three times as much mana.)
Cool but maybe shorten the amount of talking for the play. A little too long of narration.
Anyway have a happy new year fellas!
Being honest, did not enjoy it tooo much, Preferred the usuals commentary
Definetly enjoyed the game play though, great to see doc side dying early
