    Love how Rick can be honest with club reviews and no real bias because of a staffing deal. It's also nice to hear that the channel and size of impact can potentially cause some changes. Major manufacturers are out of control with what they try and justify for prices.

      When your channel is big enough, you dont need sponsors or brand deals to keep the lights on. In all categories of youtube, you can very much tell when a channel gets big enough to forgo the normal brand deal/ sponsored videos and their content gets a lot more honest. Things shift greatly, when companies feel they need to get you products vs the need of the youtuber to get their hands on products to review.

    2000 pounds is ridiculous for any golf fitting much less a putter. I got a full bag fitting from a well know "major" fitter in the USA. When I was doing the wedge and putter fitting, which was part of the overall package, the guy there told me "since you are buying a whole new set of clubs, i will throw in the driver and fairway woods fitting in for no charge". I then reminded him that I had already paid in full for everything. The experience was less than stellar and I never went back for the driver and fairway portion. It was a joke to be honest.

    I paid $100 for a fitting at Club Champion. They looked at my current setup. Put me through their SAM putting system. Told me what my tendencies are. We tested certain types and changed me to a +1 flat and -1 loft. My putting has dramatically improved. On top of all this, I got a Cleveland HB Soft 1 for $175. In the end, $275 invest and my putting improved.

    This just demonstrates how some "high end?" Brands just prey on people's desire to think they will improve their game if they spend $$$"

    • @Jakezillagfw
      @Jakezillagfw Před 28 dny

      If you think a fitting is going to changed your game. You will believe anything.
      Fitting is like taking a base model car vs an f1 car. A normal driver is just fine driving the baseline car. Giving the f1 car to the normal driver will give little improvements or none at all the skill level needed to gain all the upgrades will be above that drivers level. However if you give a f1 driver a base line car they are still going to be driving in better than that average driver. Then give the f1 car to the f1 driver and they will show why these little tweaks for a high skill level driver is needed for them.
      Now little improvements like new brakes and tires will definitely make the average driver better. Ie getting fit for length, lie angle, proper shaft flex.
      This type of putter fitting is like giving someone an f1 car.
      A normal PGA, Golf Galaxy, club champion fitting is more than acceptable for most golfers level and equates to better tires, brakes etc.
      It's not gonna change your game. So one shelling out this money should know this are in for the experience of the fit rather than the final product. With that being said yes it needs improvement but it's not going to change your game and make you a tour level putter over night.

The Sim 2 iron was within guarantee but they have determined from only looking at a photo there is no defect in the iron ... so no inspection of the actual club .. they haven't taken into account the worst winter in years and clubs using mats so continues impact on a mat more than normal. A member at my club had a similar issue with a Ping and it was replaced without issue. So if you want good customer service and clubs that can withstand regular use on winter mats which is a feature of golf in the UK then best not to buy Taylormade. Ping for me now.

    Funny how people whining about the cost of a putter don't waste a second plunking down $500 for a new driver every year that is used maybe 7 times in a round, and does NOTHING to improve your score, while the putter is generally responsible for 40 of your total strokes, unless you get better at it, and you look for the cheapest thing in the rack. The key to the stroke is how you deliver the putter face at impact, doesn't matter how you stand, where your feet are, your arms, hands, NONE OF THAT matters, because it's all an individual thing. Give 20 people the exact same putter, get 20 different results. If you can find a posture and way to bring the putter through online that is consistent 80 % of the time, you're doing something right. You're trying to roll a ball across uneven terrain into a 4.25" hole from varying distances and in varying climates, and throw in some wind while you're at it. Just accept the fact you're going to miss more often than not and you'll be a better and more relaxed golfer, which is the whole point of playing.

I probably could have got a similar result with my old putter + time, but the new putter motivated me to really put the time in because I felt so comfortable with it. My iron set cost 2k. Blueprint S. They came to my house in a standard box with a rubber-band around them. No packing material inside and a big hole in the box. I thought it was a disgrace by Ping to ship like this. Probably never buy there product again.

    Honestly, they could be selling a magic spell with that fitting that guarantees that I would sink every putt I ever hit from the green for the rest of my life and I still wouldn't pay $2000 for it. That is just an insane price. I'll take my off the shelf putter and enjoy my three putts.

    That is definitely a ridiculous amount of money and the fact that the putter started to age so quickly is even more off putting. That being said I’d like to see Rick try the LAB golf putters. There is definitely something there. Maybe not the DF line because of the shape but the MEZZ and LINK are excellent

    Buy a used putter out of the used club bin for around $10, and spend US $2500 on putting lessons from a reputable golf pro. Or maybe buy a few hundred dollars worth of putting aids, and the rest on lessons.

      I spent an hour or so putting with the new lab putter that looks like some kind of ancient Egyptian symbol yesterday. Ngl, I was blown away. Was so easy to hit my lines. It felt a bit softer than I like, but I can’t argue with the results.
      Told my wife about it when I got home and she just rolled her eyes. I bought a PLD last summer that I couldn’t control and then a SC in the fall to replace it. I think I’ll wait for my birthday before I start begging lol.
      It is hideous though. 😂

    2000 Pounds in Canadian dollars is close to $3500. There isn't a putter fitting experience that would ever justify that price tag....maybe if they flew you Arizona to watch the team make your putter from a slab of metal....and then you got to try it out at TPC Scottsdale included in the price.....maybe then. I mean come on - Ian Fraser and his team (Formerly TXG) do a proper putter fitting for $125 (about 75 pounds).

  • @bc8814
    @bc8814 Před měsícem +3

    Can you clarify if the fitting was 2000 pounds or 200? I think in the video you mentioned that the fitting was 200, and the putter was 1800. You could clarify if buying the overpriced putter was mandatory to do the fitting or not, and the video didn't really show the fitting process at all, unless there was a separate video regarding the fitting portion. I think a bit more context would be appreciated.

    • @VG32123

    ty Cameron. He had 37 putts in his round. Its the player...not the instrument.

    • @samuraichicken9248
      @samuraichicken9248 Před měsícem

      Ok, but considering that a putter isn't much more than a solid cast or milled hunk of steel with carefully considered weighting, there is MUCH less technology than what you would find in a driver, which at their peak is still considerably less expensive. This whole expensive putter nonsense is just another way to fleece people of their money.
