- The summer 2024 roadmap for sims 4 is here, with two new kits (possibly the leaks build buy kits), base game updates (possible cas/ create a sim) and a new romance themed expansion pack. I'll discuss the latest news, hints, speculation and bring up past surveys for what I think is coming next for sims 4 (aside from alas more bugs or broken gameplay) plus my speculation on a brand new world.

I'm honestly tired of romance packs being separated. Aside from bug fixes, players should be getting something new not expanding something that already exists. That should be done through pack refreshes instead💀
While I'd ideally like pack refreshes, I know a guru definitively said they were off the table- full pack refreshes anyway

@@thri11ers no :( it was on twitter and I have a feeling they were limited on what they could say. But I have a fairly solid guess.
Spa Day Refresh probably didn't sell as they hoped it would...to be blunt, they were likely banking on a net positive profit and refreshes may have gotten dropped after that trial run. I also think it's possible more are slowly moving onto Renee, or less long term in certain departments or other shuffling but in short they prob got cut because it didn't profit as they hoped

I would love to have a beach town with a cute hotel for getaways. I'm excited for a romance centered expansion pack. I hope that they do this justice.
I admit I'm pretty wary of hotels for sims 4 especially after how for rent was executed but given the popularity of the theme I don't think I'd rule it out

Well, I would have prefered Heists. Now, I just hope for players this EP will have enough content for the price, and not too much bugs.
Yeah because we don’t already have jungle adventure, island living, and for rent as tropical vacay destinations 🙄 I hope we get Paris but probably not

I would actually prefer them empty. Full empty and have several types. Normal, medieval, sci-fi. And an option for Sims in a world not to cross over in other worlds (like we have for werewolves).
honestly im surprised they haven't done this yet, seems like something that would give EA dollar sign eyes
@@MegaSparksss Right? It's something that's getting more and more requests and gives them an actual excuse to include the minimum amount of effort needed to sell a kit. All they would have to include with the map (other than the 7-10 lots it would likely have) would be any trees, foliage, rocks, and ground paint they used to build the world. Debug shells could be included if they make new ones, but depending on the world they can honestly just recycle some of the shells already in game. And some worlds wouldn't even need shells if they're more rural/nature based. Just seems like a major missed opportunity to me.

The world could be their version of Paris. Since that is known as the city of love.
I am biased because I studied French, but I'm def a sucker for a French themed world

The "from love at first sight" makes it sound like the Attractiveness System in the WW mod. They'd have to REALLY add a lot for ME (to clarify) to think that its worth it when the WW mod already does that. More animations (romance interactions), expand upon relationship styles, more autonomy for non-player sims...one can hope 🤞
a lot of people can't or don't use mods. and that system itself is likely inspired from past sims games. I think there's a lot of benefits to having that system actually in the game. I def though agree it needs to do a lot! autonomy certainly. add more meaning, ideally integrate with existing systems like sentiments, likes/ dislikes, n stories and more. Execution is key

I'm really hoping that this expansion pack brings back the rauchiness that was present in the older games. I feel like romantic interactions we have in the sims 4 are so tame (the huge gap between sims when slow dancing lol) we don't even have an actual standing make out interaction.
The make out option is criminal, it's so tame 💀 I have so many simple mods that are just adding new animations pulled from the old games to help more with my immersion
alas, I'm not sure it will- maybe up to sims 3 level? idk. I hope though we at least get a variety of new interactions certainly. I'd LOVE to be able to hold hands for example
I’m betting one of the new destinations will be the Italian vineyard based on the reference to nectar. The tables in the cafe are giving a Paris destination as well. It would tie in with the fact that the Olympics are being hosted in France.
could be! some theorize the MWS world (which combined regions) covered that but I think a full functioning vineyard would be cool - it would be a little tricky too with nectar making as a key feature in HR idk

Waaaait! So maybe the “World Destination” kits are supposed to represent the Italian Tuscany and French Riviera. I forgot about the leaked content. Hmmmm 🤔🤭
I predict we will get an attraction system, online dating, honeymoons, anniversaries, and maybe a world based in Brazil or Paris. I was wondering if we are also getting hotels/resorts with this expansion since those buildings in the background look like hotels rather than homes and we already got townhouses and apartments, so maybe. I think sim guru nova said something like the team knew we wanted hotels and resorts after for rent came out.
we could, I would not rule it out.. I could also see a simple system where you can stay at the hotel and not run it which actually I'd be fine with.. after seeing how For rent turned out.. but maybe a lot of people would not? I think it'd be interesting to see what people would expect or want from hotels
@@SimmerErin I agree, I think it would be simple and not complicated as for rent had way too many bugs and hotels would probably work the same way as the rent system. Maybe you could build your own hotel, but not run it.
I saw some comments this morning that people were hoping for another city. A Brazilian beach town would be perfect for that!
I would love to have eyelashes. (One of the things I miss from TS3 is that we could change how long the lashes were. The ones in TS4 are so sad. I'd use the CC ones, but they seem to glitch out too often when we get an update or pack, especially if accessories or other "parts" are affected.) I'd also like to have more swimsuits. I think it would be interesting if Sims could woohoo in the pool. It wouldn't be all that much different from woohooing in the hot tub.
I don't get the leaked kits being described as "destination" related. But we'll have to see what actually comes of that.
it definitely at least seems at very least it's more a city/ populated area than rural lol? but yeah concept art, hard to know. I could be wildly wrong. Hopefully whatever it is feels fresh and unique.
Yeah! If I ever have any cc in sims 4, it's been eyelashes from time to time, but often I am fully vanilla- but really eyelashes are last to go
TBH I don't understand the kit leaks and saying they are destination either, doesn't make much sense unless they are stretching the definition quite liberally
@@SimmerErin I suspect they have stretched the definition of "destination." The beach kit could be just about any beach, even at a destination. Perhaps the "dining room" one is a French restaurant or some such.
I guess we have to wait to see what they decide to call them.
I find it ridiculous we are getting an full on expansion about romance when we already have to buy one pack for better weddings, one stuff pack to give engagement rings, one pack for romantic garden stuff, and one kit for flirty intimate bras and undies. Like shouldn’t all of that have been an expansion? Yet now we’re getting a romance expansion…
It HAS to be some sort of romantic getaway pack, something like Snowy Escape but based around honeymoons. The cafe kit must be French inspired and the pool kit might be Spain? So I’m assuming the world might be themed something around there.
I think sims 4 suffers from long term planning. I also frankly think they never first expected sims 4 to last this long (I kinda want to talk about this) and then you add in lots of dlc types .
I actually have no issue with a romantic expansion pack in isolatin- there was Hot Date after all- but I think it's also very valid to bring up how content is separated more holistically too
of course, I don't have any info about this pack to judge it
So if the romance themed expansion pack turned out to be buggy, can you say that Sims got themselves.... A love bug?
I think the kits that are leaked made more sense now the the "destination" kit, One Parisian cafe and the other is sort of a tropical pool side. In any case I'm not enthused.

I'm gonna guess the EP is gonna hold a SP or GP worth of content. The gameplay is gonna be minimal and most people will buy it because they need all the packs no matter what it holds. Online dating, a few bars and lounges added but to make it feel "full," a new world that holds a couple rabbit hole dating spots would be added. Lol we all know by now just how bad and greedy EA truly is.

I think that is a popular request. I am a bit.. wary after seeing how for rent turned out, but I wonder if they might add hotels you could stay at but not manage?

@@SimmerErin So many! Before I saw your video I thought the “map” had a South-American vibe. I think the word “Destination” in the kit description double underlines that we are not getting another American suburb. I would love a Rio de Janeiro inspired world. I’m getting a Mexico City vibe, as well. I wouldn’t hate Paris either (I would love it), but I think this is unlikely because one Kit is so clearly a French café/bistro, and I can’t see why they would double down like this. Online dating/heart beds and tubs/chemistry mechanics are all on the horizon.
"Making waves" immediately made me think of surfing which could lead to any major surfing destination (I think Cape Town in South Africa is good for surfing, so maybe there? Idk much about surfing though so I could be completely wrong on the city lol). If I'm wrong, I'll be the clown

depends on how it is bundled. it might be worthwhile looking at Hot Date from the first sis game. They could also bundle it with a vacation experience and ofc local culture, just my best guess though
Seeing how Sims 4 works they really don't need much beyond a tiny world to call it an expansion.

It's what their best at Sims 3 Pets had cats dogs horses small pets like lizards turtles snakes and birds not to mention npc animals like deer and raccoons. Cats and Dogs Horse Ranch and My First Pet Sims 4 still has still not reached that content level. Everything is separated into so many packs and work like mini games its terrible.

A romance expansion pack? What are they going to do for build buy? Idk about this road map, the leaked kits didn't really excite me either. The Cafe kit just looks like more base game willow creek and the pool kit doesn't include diving boards or slides but we are paying for 4 different rocks 🙄

The one destination kit looks like you can attempt to recreate your 1900s Parisian Café fantasies with it. The thumbnails don't look very fancy because of all the brownish tones (wood tones I assume) but that might actually be a cute and versatile one if the items have enough detail. Also: Is that a new, nice coffee machine I spy?

Looking at one of the kits (the one that has more cafe type items), they could be aiming for France as the destination. If you think of the French Riviera, there are a lot of coastal locations there. Paris is known as the 'city of love' and while not having a beach of its own, they could use inspiration from that region for the coming packs.

I've been wishing for one-sided relationships and feelings for so long! We have them a little in the sim profiles but they don't really have any impacts. Like crushes without the other having any idea, jealousy, grudges, one-sided love, or stronger on one side than the other, etc.
ALSO, waaay more romantic interactions and activities; Hand-holding, cuddling, *SLOW DANCING* , date ideas and locations. Activities for 2, or sharing a drink or food. And first dates, or date nights in general having a bigger impact on relationships, etc.
There's definitely so much potential with it being a whole EP!
The fountain and colorful flags is giving me Itali or Spain vibes, but Paris probably makes more sense for the theme.
A new Woohoo is definitely a requirement but I also hope we get a new death too; Like from broken heart. And maybe woohoo being a skill that you can be bad or good at, or dislike even, like being A-sexual etc, but that's maybe too mature for TS4
really appreciate your ideas here. I do think there are so many other interactions they could tap into AND relationship dynamics. I honestly hope most of the focus or at least substantial goes towards developing those aspects, which would have an impact on the game and existing systems as a whole
I don't feel that Paris is the sold place a love theme can or should be repped by- I'd love to see them do something a bit outside of that

I think they were called “destination” kits because they are kits made to add to the new world from the upcoming expansion kit (which, just from the way it’s being talked about, will almost certainly have some vacation homes). Maybe it will even have the hotels people have been asking for? But I wouldn’t count on it.
If the kits are meant to go with the new world, then I think it might be something on the French Riviera (Cote d’Azur), because the cafe/pub kit looks very appropriate for that kind of setting, and the pool stuff looks like it’s meant to be high class rather than family gameplay. That’s my impression anyway. 😅
I hope they aren;t directly tied to the ep= because I feel that might not come off so well. But I do think they are probably just the ones that leaked.

I am thinking hotels with this pack possibly with the vibrating heart bed as a BB object. I hope they focus on different kind of relationships in the romance pack, like crushes, unrequited love, jealousy, polyamorous dating, throuples, internet dating.... catfishing and i beg please make it possible to assign sims in cas to be gf/bf instead of just engaged and married.
it'd be fun to see a nod to past sims lore.
I would love to see what they do come up with different relationship types. I think catfishing etc and the potential for drama is highly interesting
Given the leaked packs I think we're looking at an Italian Vineyard/Riviera theme and world. I'm not gonna lie, I will not pay full price for them to give us expanded romance that should have shipped day one.

I feel like the world is going to either be a Parisian or a Brazilian beach one. The kit leaks also said they are a pool kit and what looks like maybe a French Cafe style kit. Those would line up perfectly to compliment a romance pack in those types of worlds.
yah, I'm not sure they'd do a kit based on the same world as the ep they are launching?
With hints to splash, waves and Ocean it leads me towards some kind of romantic holiday style destination. Beaches, sunny climate, touristy destination (maybe) and all that comes with that. If one of the updates is summer clothes/swinwear, the other one hints at polish with a close up of an outstretched hand in the image. Nail polish, or makeup in general maybe? Neither sound particularly interesting to me, the game has that stuff already. A lot would depend on what the world itself offers.
As a separate thought, I had a video idea for you. Would you consider doing a round up of all the life sim (and closely related) games? Whether it's 3D or 2D and nothing deep, just a quick overview of what's coming our way. It would highlight more than just the big few as a way to let people know they exist if they've missed them. Maybe ask your socials and here etc to name the ones they know, that would save you a bit of work. What do you think and there's no rush for it.

Ok, so my first thought was, “A Romance expansion pack? It doesn’t sound like a good ep, it would maybe work better as a GP or maybe even a SP.” but I remember that maybe that’s exactly what is going to happen because horse ranch felt like that and that one had so much more potential and it ended up being a GP with the price tag of an EP.
That being said I hope your speculation is right, if we get a Brazil inspired world it would be a huuuge hit, not to mention I’m actually looking forward to it, I’ve been wanting a Latin inspired world that we could actually live in, (I’m looking at you Selvadorada). And if they are smart about it that might even help with sale with the carnaval inspired kit, because there is a world to use it for. Also, and this is the last thing, if they are going the whole love route, this would be a great opportunity to fix my wedding disaster (😂 because of you I can’t call it anything else 😅) but that would be asking to much. And yes would love to see a wish list video, I really enjoy your videos. ❤
its so hard to say! I could see this being really solid or a lackluster pack. I do suspect there will be more to it beyond romance itself- whatever the world is. I actually think it'd be pretty cool to set it in Brazil or really anywhere people may not expect.
As a brazilian I don't get any Brazilian vibes, I think it will be french riviera. The fountain tells me it's european and not brazilian. I like both!
I hope they implement the heart bed and hot tub. The old vibration bed from the original game was so much fun too. Something tells me the waves is in reference to a water bed. Idk how I’d feel about that.

I believe the CAS updates are going to be new nails & hair. Possibly new swim suits.
The kits are French bistro, which is small dining, & maybe Italian pool side.
The world hints, looks to be Latin or Spanish colonial inspired. Maybe something inspired by São Luís, the city of love in Brazil. & if not either of those two things, possibly a French Riviera which seems to be on theme with the road map.
I think nails, hair and swimsuits would be there most likely

@@SimmerErin Honestly, astute senses, observation & prayer lol. I’ve just seen someone post three flags within the roadmap that looked to be the colors of the Brazilian flag. It could be very possible that we are getting a Brazilian inspired world. I believe that if so, it is going to be an amalgamation of different cities in Brazil. Possibly a mix between historical colonial, & the modern skyscraper of Rio De Janeiro.
my guess paris inspired world. the fountain icon is similar shape to the fountains de la concorde. could be a reach, or just a similar shape. the making waves thing had me think a new woohoo in the fountain.
yeah, I am not seeing Paris as others are but not saying you are wrong. It would be an expected path for them to take
I can see the new world being a beach town that is a famous destination for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway. I can see The Sims team making a brazilian town since we have brazilian food, a brazilian Carnaval kit and a brazilian music radio station.

This is sad….why a whole “romance” pack?! What new features or system can be implemented to make this a viable pack?? They are truly losing me but yet we still can’t get Shopping malls with a full blown retail system and commercial leasing system

I do agree about the retail system, but we're not gonna get one. I've been told times and times again by simmers that what we have is enough. I still miss the Sims 2 system.

I would like it if they would do a travel pack like in the sims 3 and add an option where you can own other things (museums, hotels...) also like in the sims three that would be so cooool 😢

If they add in an attraction system, will they fix the orientation lock they added with that update?
what do you mean, orientation lock?
@@SimmerErin The orientation lock is the thing that makes most of the npcs be uninterested in flirting or woohoo (the settings in CAS). It was supposed to be fixed, but I played recently to test it out and I still had the issue.
I know that Lumpinou, andirz, and a few others have mods that fix this issue. I have nothing against the sims team for it, but the feature could’ve been implemented better.

We already have an attraction system in The Sims 4 - oh, hang on, that's a mod. The thing is, it's a really well made mod that goes into huge detail and, frankly, I don't think EA could do better, so, speaking totally selfishly here, I don't actually want them to try and implement an attraction system as it's likely to mess up the really top-drawer one we already have (which is free, very stable and regularly updated). You mentioned a band pack. One of the main things I really miss from The Sims 3 is the ability to play music together. My main couple used to set up their instruments on a pavement somewhere and just jam to earn a bit of extra money. Happy days!
not everyone can or does use mods and I think there's a lot of value to having a system in game. It also sounds like it could potentially add new relationship types. And I also would not count out new interactions and more.
I think we will get a bands pack eventually. It's on the 2020 survey, has been, as you mentioned, done before in the sims, and seems like a popular concept
@@SimmerErin Please note I did stress I was speaking selfishly. Of course there should be such a system in the game, it's just sad that it is often case that mods just to things better than the product itself, which is not healthy. Mods should exist to put a twist on gameplay in some way, but in no way be essential. Anyway we shall see how things go. Perhaps I shall be pleasantly surprised!

I would love a predictions video or a "what gameplay could actually put inside a romance EP to actually make it an EP" video. After MWS and For Rent I am not interested in anything romance or hotels so my brain is really struggling to come up with $40 worth of a pack. Also I am wondering if they are unlocking both the pool floaties (locked by Island living) and the cafe (locked by Get together) in those kits and putting that gameplay into BG.

@@SimmerErin Agreed. My game is as “vanilla” as it gets. I’m tempted though to put some gameplay enhancement mods into my game. I also love some of the food mods as well.
I've had WW as a part of my game for so long, I've forgotten that the game doesn't have attraction. If that is to come, I can't wait to see how it operates!

Oh boy. I didn't think about this. Do you remember the outrage of Get Famous? Arguing the gurus stole ideas from the modder who makes the road to fame mod? People will prob argue the same if we are getting an attraction system along with it better be part of a free update. Which that yis valid and the EP is like a paid companion

Thanks for covering. I think they should fix For Rent before releasing another expansion. Not buying anything this quarter until the game is at least fixed. The dating theme should be a Wedding Stories refresh.

I am kind of curious about the pack that has Hair, hands, bushes and trees. by the way are their any debugg hair? I got a hair i never seen before. looking like a 18th century wigg. when I aged up a male sim.

An expansion centered around romance, I wonder what features it will add. An updated date system, chemistry/compatibility, online dating? I’m sure there’s a lot more that I’m not thinking of, I’m looking forward to seeing the trailer whenever that comes out.
that but eps usually have several components to them. If you look at almost any ep you have other gameplay features too. what those will be, not sure
@@SimmerErin I’m not sure either, with a pack revolving around romance my mind is going blank on what they can add in. I don’t play around a lot with that in my games so I’m curious to see what features it would be.
I still would LIKE to SEE either a bands pack or some type of pack with of Faries. N we thought at one point we WERE going to have faries but then it didn't happen. Oh well.

As a brazillian i don't know how to feel about a world inspired by Brazil for a Romance pack as i prefered a French-like world (maybe they kept it for a Royalty Pack?), but it'll be welcomed. If it's true that would be really cool as our Valentine's day is coming on June 12th, in a very festive time of the year since it's when we celebrate the June Fest during all month.

The kits were supposely leaked online, one is a pool kit, and maybe a dining kit.
Hopefully it's a full romance expansion, including hotels.

The picture shows a pool waterfall. I"m hoping that is premade but It's using the rocks in the kit so we may have to add a waterfall.

When I have a mod that works so well I don't feel like wanting anything game related, WW attraction system and Simda is perfect
it;s great those mods are available for those who can and do use mods
however, I strongly feel for many reasons it's best to have such systems in game content

The romance EP seems like another upscale for a base game update. If they DO a Brazilian world they MUST do carnival! Where you design your own float?! ( they lack the ambition and are lazy)
Hot Date was one of the most popular packs for the first sims game. I think maybe people have more issues with this based on what dlc we have in sims 4
I don't think they are lazy- quite the opposite issue. Being pushed to pump out too much without ample support

I don't know, i'm both excited and not and I don't know which one to feel. Maybe i need to know more about the pack. I wish these packs did not come with new worlds, i wish we could just get more gameplay and more objects for building and cas instead, i wish for bug fixes and pray that we don't end up with really bad ones like in for rent. Then again i think for rent really pushed the game engine to it's limit. Anyways, I love your coverage on all the sims games that are to be coming on out.

This romance pack better have hotels/motels/resorts in order for it to be intriguing to builders like me. Plus, us builders been using For Rent as a hotel building solution since that came out anyway. At the moment, not excited until I hear more. And I'm like you, why aren't they adding bands or cars to the game. Something different and new.
I'm not very certain it would, but I suppose it's possible, if it does, I just hope it would be better executed than for rent

Many others like myself want a car pack. Or something close to it. I mean driving around, a new career like a mechanic or car salesman and maybe customising your vehicle. Do we need them? No. But would it make the game fun? Yes! Give us cars!

I think it will be a vacation world based on France. The Arc de Triomphe on the roadmap pretty much gives it away. The compass in the top right resembles the Vacation Worlds icon in game.
The kits complement the whole Paris vibe, that’s probably the reason for calling them Destination Kits.
Now remains the question: What game-changing content has Maxis come up with that warrants 40 bucks. In every other game I’d get 40+ hours of gameplay. Maxis usually delivers 4 hours or less.
Online dating and new woohoo spots? The Heart bed and hot tub? Yet another disjointed compatibility system?
I can’t think of anything child friendly that would majorly expand on dating in the game. I’m curious to see what Maxis came up with.
I looked and yeah it does have an arc, but it's pretty thin and a bit off to me to be the Arc and the style is fairly common- but it isn't to say it couldn't be, sense this is 2D concept art and it's very hard to tell!

I mean I'd be pretty happy to see that. There are a lot of great interactions and items from past sims game imho, Sims 4 tends to do things differently... but I'd love to see at least some return
I would love to see things like weel chairs, ramps walkers and the ability to make autism adhd sims they should come along with moodlets. A physical therapy career would be cool. As well as sims with mental illness like bipolar etc.

@@SimmerErin I found about it yesterday, the one thing I don't like about it some parts of the game when you walk around its first person view, you see your person when there using the bathroom or to take a shower, I watch a few people do a gameplay on it..
I think (unfortunately) I'm the most interested in the kits. I do build quite a bit, so both of them have several assets that look very nice. I like the floors and rocks, specifically the pathway rocks because the only ones are in debug, and since I play without mods, it's annoying to sift through everything, so I would love to have those in a kit.

@@SimmerErin So a lot of the pool-related rocks, I might do like a mountain resort type of build with a nice cabin feel and a luxury pool. I don't have Horse Ranch, but the style of some of the windows and stuff there would be nice.
A lot of the floorings would be beautiful in a castle, a villa, an Oasis Springs build - kitchens, bathrooms, courtyards, or just a nice backyard patio area in a larger home. Some of the dining stuff I really like - the chairs especially are quite versatile. I would use those in almost any family home.

I expected something like this was coming eventually (it's lonnnggggg overdue). After we got Neighbourhood stories, it was quite annoying that it only included options for pre-existing relationships and didn't have ANY feature allowing for new NPC marriages/relationships, and I knew this was because they just hadn't figured out the system to match them together yet. NPC relationships BETTER be a base game update. If they hide this behind a paywall I will be furious.

I use mods for attraction such as first impressions, wonderful whims, and SimDa. So the idea of a romance expansion pack feels cheap. I do get console players and people who like playing vanilla, but I don't think anyone should have to pay for a rehaul to the attraction system.
but should that not be in game content? I think the issue I have with the reasoning is then nothing that is a mod should also be in game? mods are inspired by past sims games
I hope we are getting a romantic dating pack with a compatability system. Eyelashes would be a nice addition so console players could enjoy that feature outside of cc. I'm intrigued to see how they advertise these packs.

a lot of people think it is Paris- I am not getting that sense, and kits usually don't relate to the ep, but I also won't rule it out because the team does def. add worlds not on the survey as well. Of interesting note there was a French themed world on there but it was more rural

Hm idk...so far I am not impressed to say the least sadly. Romane once again? What was wedding stories for if it had been executed correctly we wouldn't need that now cuz when I think of many aspects of a romance pack I see some of them already executed in MWS so I am not too sure how much they'll be able to incorporate to also validate the 40 bucks the pack will cost but we will see. A far as kits go I'll just ignore them since they are not really for me but even if they wouldn't exist it wouldn't change much about what we get gameplay wise anyways.
I hope they#ll soon move on to other surveys as they keep being stuck at ones that are a bit old by now...bands, fairies, fantasy, futuristic, hobbies are all themes that are not even touched on and I think sims 4 really needs something fresh by now

as a dude whos really into romance and cheesy romantic cliches, the idea of a pack expanding upon relationships and romance in general would be right up my alley. and unpopular opinion of mine? (and i'm setting myself up to be VERY attacked here lol) but im the small group of people who loves it when the sims team announces another pack despite the mountain of bugs and issues the game still has. don't get me wrong, i ABSOLUTELY want more bug fixes and at the VERY LEAST for them to release packs that you know, actually work? but call me problematic, because bug fixes don't draw me back to the game. i never take breaks from ts4, look at an upcoming laundry list of bug fixes, and think "oh yes! they are finally fixing those bugs i've been dealing with, now i need to come back to the game!" bug fixes are nice (and the bare minimum they should be doing let's be honest), but they don't bring me back to the game or reinvigorate my love for playing it, new content does.
i guess the other part of it is just that as a jaded millennial, i've kinda come to terms with ts4 as it is now. do i still want bug fixes? god yes! but am i going to be shocked if ts4 stays a broken buggy mess right up until project renee releases? nope. there are thousands upon thousands of bugs being reported for this game (and they have been reported for the last ten years), and everytime they release a laundry list of fixes its like getting an appetizer for your dinner. it's almost always a small, handful of bugs they picked to fix (a lot of which usually seem to be pointless fixes like clipping issues in cas compared to the larger performance bugs) and so it never feels like they actually make a dent in the game issues because they create bugs faster than they fix them. so am i happy about the current state of the game? nope. but have i made peace with the fact that it's probably going to stay that way? yup.

I will say... one ep over months (this goes to or through? August) ***seems to be a slower pace than last year, and for that I'm glad.
Romance as an expansion pack? I'm having the same issue with the features that were added with Growing Together, where it felt like we were made to pay for features that should have arguably been native to the base game. Definitely we'll have to see more but expectations are low as usual.
Hot Date was a pack for sims 1, and it has been done before overall in the sims, so I can't say it's a sims 4 anomaly (same said for growing together).
so in terms of sims- minus we have a billion packs, it's n to unusual.
I do think the landscape is changing though and future games sound like they will have more in their base- rene included

I am just wondering how in the world they will justify this theme as an EXPANSION pack. Also an attraction system and High School cliques locked behind a paywall just seems wrong. Like a new world and maybe online dating work as features, but to have to buy something besides HSY for cliques seems like a misfire and the compatability system is already locked behind a paywall now the attraction system will be to!
The OG sims game has an ep. It's called Hot Date, and loads of people loved it. I think the bigger thing is the context: people rightfully feel that sims 4 content is too split up and we have loads of dlc, and often long term planning seems absent or messy
and, of course, we simply don't know almost anything about the ep yet. I'm not say stoked about it off the top (I mean our last EP was for rent lol) but I am willing to see what it does
@@SimmerErin I am not one to go ‘this should have been in a pack you released 5 years ago’. I do agree the long term planning is a mess, but we are no longer in the ‘hard disc’ era where once you made your base game and ship it out, no changes could be made unless you made a new/special edition or deluxe edition or something. Otherwise your ONLY choice was DLC or the next generation (sequel) of said game. There was no other way to ‘update’ the game with new features.
Since we are in the digital era, unlike the hard disc era, basegame updates are possible so if there is a good small idea 5-9 years later that feels compatible with an existing pack, you could also just choose to give that to the community as a solid gift along with an expansion pack for purchase with extra goodies. Sound horrible but you could “throw the bone” of a HSY clique system or attraction system into a base game update, lock the world, new “toys”, clothing, special event types, etc behind the paywall…game or stuff pack. I still question how much this will feel like an EXPANSION. Honestly, EA shot themselves in the foot by introducing Game Packs as these tiny ideas tend not to feel “expansive” anymore. “Expansion” packs come with less than a third of what they use to and the line between expansion and Game packs is blurry at best.
