- The 2016 Porsche 718 Boxster marks a major departure for the sports car maker, losing its flat-six engine in favour of a four-cylinder turbocharged unit.

There needs to be a "Rebecca Jackson Drives Only Porsches" channel somewhere. I love watching her gleefully push them down twisty roads.

I know you shouldnt say anything personal these days, but goodness me I could watch her all day and more besides! A mesmerising presenter.. I actually just got one of these and the noise it makes seems fine, possibly because I havent owned previous versions

As an old school Porsche fan, I'm not so convinced with the new turbo-charged strategy of the company ... (especially 991)
But the design of the 718 is great and Lava orange fits very well.

Excellent quick review of a beautiful Porsche let down by an STI exhaust note. But seriously could Rebecca possibly be any more adorable??? All that and she races cars too. Lucky the dude wedding her!!! Cheers.

I was looking for a newer and better 911 cabriolet (to replace my 996 Targa)... turns out the best 911 cab is a previous generation Boxster! See Rebecca's 2015 Boxster vs. TT review.

they should reduce cilinder size, not the amount of cilinders.
+hannes something That would decrease reliability. They simply should have sticked to the same damn concept. Like the 911, 6 cylidner boxer engine in the back, a concept that lasted for over 50 years, why can't they do the same iwth the boxster?
I think it's alright. some differentiation is good. boxter cayman with 4 and 911 with 6.

I don't get Porsche's new 4 dot LED headlight design. It's same as Kia's fog lamps..
It fits in with their design language across all models and It's not new.

Is it better than an Audi TT? I've seen very good reviews of the new TT as well, and they seem to be fairly close competitors.

RIP flat six. Was good while it lasted. The noise of a sports car is integral with the whole experience IMHO and this doesn't really cut it. A sad day for all those who love cars.

+Joko Tai it's hard to tell, but if I had to estimate based on the video, it looks to be a H or I colour, VS 1/2 diamond, on a white gold (could be platinum) setting, street price less than US $ 20000
+Joko Tai how could you tell without knowing the 4Cs of the stone? it looks to be a 1.5 - 1.75 Carat Brilliant cut, but more importantly, without knowing the Colour and Clarity, it could be worth as little as US $5000, or over US $100000 for a D, IF, perfect stone depending on the Jewelry House such like Harry Winston, VCA or Cartier.
About 19999 more than shes worth. Shes a great sales person

Boxter s or just regular 718 like it says in the back? The s surely isnt as slow as she mentions and does anything from 4.2 to 4 seconds flat to go to 62mph. Confusious says confusion is inevitable
this flat four seems great to me and should be in more cars, the Audi A2 for example.

If economy is what they're after why not put a VW sourced TDI in? Wait, never mind (too soon?)! I guarantee the NA flat 6 will do better mileage vs the turbo 4 if both driven "spiritedly." Turbos chug fuel on boost like crazy. Doesn't that kind of defeat the point of the "upgrade?" As a cherry on top you don't get that glorious flat 6 noise! Yes it will be quicker in a straight line w/the extra torque/power, but no one buys a Boxster to win drag races.

How many times is this car faclifted now? It's looks almost the same since 2005! But I love it.

When Rebecca revved the engine, it sounded like a subie.
Subaru copied VW. It sounds like a VW.
Vw's have all sorts of engines, it sounds (a bit) like the original VW beetle.
What does "chassis balance" even mean or is she just saying what the brochure said ?
This cars are going to become absolute Animals once a tune comes out and put a K04 turbo on this thing will easily make 500 HP. the Flat 6 sounded good but wasn't tunable so you were stuck with the power for ever. And there is not Exhaust that can't fix this.

No exhaust can fix the sound of that uninspiring flat 4 engine. Sounds like a fucking Subaru or Golf gti! Porsche has lost it's soul.

Ivan Giraldo Did I say it can't make more power? no. But no 4 cylinder engines with exhaust still sounds shit. I've owned a Golf R and Megane RS265, it makes it better but it's never that good.

Couldn't agree more with the reviewer. The sound is so central to the excitement that comes with a Porsche. But for the same money, you can get yourself a 911 second hand with not too many miles on the clock that sounds awesome. Why bother with this raspberry blower!?

Fast, affordable, luxurious, its a Porsche, modern, convertible, great cargo capacity for a sport car, can be used as a daily driver
What else would you want from it?
The front and rear lights look after market, electric power steering, also £40,000 for only 4 cylinders! Give me a earlier Boxster any day over a new one.

And, although I like where they wrote Porsche below the spoiler lip, I really hate that they now have so much text at the back of all there cars ... and that is for middle eastern and far east markets where is it important for people to know that you have spent more money on the S or the Turbo!
+Photoandcargeek Oh and renaming existing models by using older names and pretending there is heritage is pure marketing but to me it sounds more ridiculous than anything. If they wanted to name their Boxter as the 718, why didn't they do it with their 1st generation Boxter? That would have made a lot more sense.
