    Indiana University professor Diane Bish has captured the nuance of this Enigma variation, "Nimrod." Her registrations are magnificent and her tempo is perfect, once again underscoring her talent as one of America's, if not the world's leading organists

    I am always in total awe of Miss Bish, not only as the consummate concert organist she is, but of her adaptability to different instruments.
    Every pipe organ console has its own arrangement of stops. Some are arranged across the top, some on panels on either side. Some are tabs, some are draw buttons, and some more contemporary organs look like the controls of a 747.
    And yet, she quickly makes them her own. She learns their character and soul.
    We are blessed to have her talent in our lives.
    Brava!

    One of my favorite pieces...well done. As for people mentioning looking at her feet...she uses a bunch of the toe pistons to help the decrescendo at the end. I look at the toe pistons also when I play because it's very easy to miss one or hit the wrong one.

    • @sanjosemike3137
      @sanjosemike3137 Před 4 lety

      Her legato is magnificent. There is no sostenuto pedal on the organ. You have to SUSTAIN the legato yourself. There are no magic rules. It's just VERY difficult and you have to PLAN your legato carefully and practice each key change separately. Not to mention the myriad of stops and cluster choices.
      Playing the organ is the DEFINITION of multi-tasking. It helps to have a brain that can be in 3 places at once. Diane probably can jump rope and play canasta at the same time. (I hope somebody laughs at my post).
      Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
