Diane Bish is one of the very greatest organ virtuosi the USA has ever produced -- possible THE greatest. I have loved and greatly admired her work for many years.
Can’t listen to this without it bringing a tear to my eyes. Her talent is otherworldly. She has mastered pieces Virgil Fox and E. Power Biggs have absolutely butchered in comparison. Diane Bish is my spirit animal. She’s also a very sweet and humble lady in person.
Can't get enough of that classic Ruffatti sound! It seems they are not voicing their choruses quite that way any more? I've played their large instrument in Charlotte and it was something quite different. Ruffatti is the finest builder in the world imnsho. I hope that extremely glistening brilliance and sparkling fire doesn't disappear from their instruments forever.
As demonstrated here, as a Movement in the 33 Stylistic Studies for Harmonium, *EIN SIEGESGESANG ISRAELS, Op. 101 No. 5 - "33 PORTRAITS FÜR HARMONIUM (ALLER SYSTEME)"* (Sigfrid Theodor Karg) Edition C. F. Peters, GeMA translates well to large pipe organs, especially those with full reed chori on unenclosed Divisions (which are a major amplitude boost on the French art harmonium for which these Studies were originally composed). Obviously I'd have a difficult time assembling a drumkit that could keep up with this V/117 organ: With the exceptions of Pearl Drums and Grover Pro Percussion, no manufacturer has a lug-tuned snare drum in the 16"x16" size; and the Cooperman Revolutionary War Model snare drum (packing the optional Remo Falams batter and Emperor Snare resonant with four guts on the stock J-hook snare strainer), originally designed for slinging by a shell-mounted carry hook, would require a rack system to hang it.
I just realised what is wrong tho - The outfit demands silver slippers, not gold. But hey, who cares - love the left foot action Miss Bish, and if ever I get our glorious 1909 Norman and Beard finished, please will come and play this one for us?
Wundervoll! Gerade das Wechselspiel der Manuale, da bin ich ja nu gar nicht bei. Ich spiele auch fast nur an zweimanualigen orgeln mit mechanischer Traktur, da ist das alles etwas schwierig
Very talented, yes. But I think it comes through better with a slightly slower tempo and also with more of an orchestral type registration in the middle section.
I do like this piece and play it from her score - but in the transcription Ms Bish has done, and you can see in the video, she is duplicating notes in the left hand that are in the pedals. What's the point?
I keep coming back to this video over and over!
So do I it's amazing
I agree 100%
Same here.
She has so perfectly combined the beauty of the instrument with the joyous tone of the song. It was a blessing to hear.❤
Diane Bish is one of the greatest living organists.

Stunningggggg😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Finally to find a performance that doesn't have the organist playing at a tortoise-like tempo. Diane Bish is an incomparable artist.
How lucky we are to have Diane Bish in our midst. What I wouldn’t give to attend a concert.

I just want to crank up the volume all the way every time I watch this.
Mesmerizing. Watching someone who is so clearly at the top of her craft is both humbling and inspiring.

This is the best one I’ve seen her do. 👍🏼
Bravo Miss Bush!! I love this one, and the Cruela DeVil outfit is stunning too!
Outstanding!
Beautifully played. Excellent quatlity recording. Tom
That sounded awesome! Great acoustic for the organ. Loved the Chamades.
It's very beautiful
Wonderful performance.
Love ❤️ Love ❤️ Love ❤️ her organ feet! Those feet 🦶 dance 💃 over the pedals!
I would have to agree. This and "Now Thank We All Our God" are Karg-Elert's best works.
And in the style of the great Mr. Handel.

You can feel the Power of God in all her performances.

@Contrubas Maybe she has chosen not to couple the other divisions to the pedal?
@LaudesOrgani It was written for the harmonium originally - just improvise a little and you'll enjoy!
Bravo! This track is great! Do you have Ms. Bish playing Karg-Elert's "Now Thank We All Our God" in HQ (preferably on this same organ)? Much thanks!
@Contrubas Maybe she hasn't coupled the pedal division to the rest?

Any ideas as to what the registrations in this piece are?
Also known by it's proper German title: Ein Siegesgesang Israels. The English translation used above is pretty far off.

Is the Great on the First manual?
Typically, the first manual is the Positiv or Ruckpositiv. The second manual is usually the Great or Hauptwerk.
3:12 that would be the most low note of the organ?
THESE ORGAN ARE SINGING.
The original was written for harmonium so there's no original pedal part.
Really? Jeez well thank you miss Bish for adding it. Who says God doesn’t like bass.
@praisethelord333 _ well, she SHOULD have been president, so far as I am concerned!
St Richard Presbyterian church
Her pedalling is unsightly!
True. But if it had been audio only, who would’ve noticed?
Very talented, yes. But I think it comes through better with a slightly slower tempo and also with more of an orchestral type registration in the middle section.
@J. K. : There was no need to be so insulting. I saw no jealous tone. It was only a mild critique...if even that.

It's called showmanship. Makes it look more complex to non-organists.
