I don't even know why people even question you at this point. Awesome job dude
Thanks! I mean a leak is possible, but it won't be from the glass panels blowing out lol, that much I am sure of 😊
Epic, cannot get enough of this series 😎
Thank you! 😊
HYPE! Really excited to see the wetland as it gets established! All the work is paying off, well done my friend!
Hey Bentley! Me too, I am really looking forward to building the wetland filter, river bank and the rest of the scape! 🙂
The amount of hardwork put into these projects is motivational! Thank you 💯
My pleasure! Fun to have fellow hobbyists to share with! 😊
Love following this build, wish I had the space to build my own
Thanks!
me too@@AquariumDomain.
Me three
Can't wait for the aquascape portion of this build. What an amazing canvas to work with.
You and me both! I have so much material staged outside for the scape, it is going to be pretty insane 😊
This aquarium is insane! I thought you were going white on the outside, SO GLAD you went back on the outside! You are the MAN! I can only aspire to achieve builds on your level! By the way, the EBJD's looked great in your opening prologue! By the way, I love how fast your channel is growing! Well deserved! I knew it was a matter of time! NOBODY DOES IT LIKE YOU brother! Until next time, continue to be great and rest up before you get started on the next build!
Thanks Cleveland! Man I can't even imagine starting the next build right now lol, I still have 10,000 lbs of rock on my driveway that needs to go into the 4500 lol 😊 You know me too well though....I am sure a month after the 4500 is done I will chomping at the bit to work on the other 3 annex tanks lol 😊😊
There's always gotta be a Rayray in every crowd. Great job brother!!!
Very true! 😊
Congratulations on getttnig this far!! Can't wait to see the next video.
Thanks! It's getting close now! 😃
28:05 145 hours later?😂 this is freaking insane, props to you for taking on this killer build solo🤯🫡
Hehe you are not kidding...took forever to fill 😊
Thank you very much for all your efforts! Really appreciated, cant wait to see the aquascape and stocking ideas! Thank you
Absolutely! I am really looking forward to aquascaping this beast, I just hope I can do it justice 😊
Nice. Huge sigh of relief when u added the supports. I remember a while ago u said u were gonna add them. But I haven't kept updated. Love this content. It will hold for sure 1 2x4 would hold for the supports. I always recommend putting 1/2 plywood strips between all beams, Headers, Supports. glued and nailed. Awskme shoe brother
The supports were always going to on before any water was added, but I like to do them last as they are generally in the way when still working on the tank. 😊
Have you replaced that 2x4 top brace that split when the lag bolt screwed in? I kept waiting for you to mention it.
Fingers crossed that it all stays dry for you. I can't wait for the next update.👍🏼
Three days in on the fill test and so far so good! 😊
Seeing the amount of works you put in it, I confidently think it will hold
Yeah, pretty overbuilt for sure... I definitely didn't want to take any chances with this build 😊
What a journey. Getting so close!
Definitely! 😆
Sooo exciting!!! What a build job buddy and thanks so much for taking all of us along for the ride. At this point a lot of us are vested in seeing this through. 🙂
Thanks Manish! Been a long journey, but we are getting close! 😊😊
This build is so exciting!!!
😁
110% you are the King of DIY!!! Absolutely stunning work!!!
Thanks HookDaddy! 😊
Leaving us in suspense eh? 😆😆 Even on camera that thing looks like a tank of tanks! 😅 Excited to see if full of water next time.
Thanks Austin! Gotta have a little suspense to spice things up 😊😊
HOLY SHIT LETS GOO!!!!! MY GUY IM SO EXCITED FOR YOU AND FOR THIS !
Thank you! 😊
Just don’t pump water through the wetland filter too fast. Slower is better. If you want more flow, put the extra outflow on top of the wetland. Love the build!
Exactly! 3x turnover is lower than what most would think for an aquarium but is ideal for an upflow wetland filter. The additional internal water flow will be handled with powerheads positioned throughout the tank.
@@AquariumDomain. Awesome! I knew you’d have it handled! Can’t wait to see the scape.
Awesome thanks for keeping us updated 🫵💯👍
Hey JC! Getting close! 😊😊
Congrats on the updates!! Massive effort on the glass install, that must have been heavy and you clearly thought the process through. Can't wait to see it filled up and the wetland overflow cranking. It is just a staggering amount of water/volume!! I think your knees are gonna be just fine!
Man, I’m so excited to see this!
🙂
Ignore the haters, this is what the hobby is all about pushing the limits on what is possible. Incredible work, I cannot wait to see it finished.
Definitely! 🙂
Always Amazing! You could do a whole video just going down the building material/cost list. That would be every bit as mind blowing as the size of the build itself! lol Thanks.
That video is already in the works, I have been taking footage all along the way for a video that will show the whole build from start to finish, with prices for each stage of the build and final cost.
@@AquariumDomain. That will be epic! Thanks.
Great progression on your tank build. Can't wait until you actually can start building your wetland filter and are able to begin putting in your rocks and plants.
Thanks me too! I have really been looking forward to this scape...I really hope it lives up to the picture in my mind. 😊
This is a dream project for sure.
Hard work is it’s own reward.
I hope it’s better than you expect.
Thanks! I definitely took my time and put in the work on this build, so hopefully no issues. I really...really did not want to take any chances with so much water lol 😊
Great job so far. Glad you are allowing us to watch. Can't wait to see how this room will look when it's all done.
Thank you! I love having fellow hobbyists to share my passion with! 😊
Congratulations. I’m so excited for you. I can’t wait to see the final finished product.
Thank you so much! 😊
Absolutely awesome!!! Great work and thank you for sharing the process. Looking forward to seeing the next update 😊
Thanks so much! 😊 It is great for me to have other hobbyists to share my tanks with! 😊😊
This is incredible. Can't wait to see it fully operational.
Thanks! Me too! 😊
Congratulations Mate
Fantastic work. I love to watch someone's dream come true, with hard work !
Thank you! I had to wait along time to build my dream fish room, but the last few years have been a blast! 😊
I was genuinely excited watching the tank fill up!
Regards to the pump placement. Centrifugal pumps generally run smoother against a bit of back pressure and generally don't like pulling a suction. Based on this I'd consider placing them in a way that gives them a bit of head pressure on the suction side to keep them primed and probably with the longest length of piping on the discharge side so that they can work against any frictional losses etc.
Thanks for the great comment, what you said matches up exactly with what I am finding in my research.
Great progress thanks for sharing. Are you going to leave the outside the way it is or finish it with plywood?
Thanks! Outside will be finished with some sort of veneer and trim boards.
This is such an awesome build! So glad you’re doing a riverbank scape with all that space. I think it would be awesome to see you add some Acestrorhynchus species into the tank. Acestrorhynchus Pantaneiro, falcatus, or Altus specifically. Those are the most common red tail varieties. They’re a great mid water column fish, grow to a decent size and are super active swimmers that don’t nip or have an aggressive temperament despite their teeth.
I imagine my 3' long Peacock Bass would see those guys as bait fish :-(. I still have 3 more tanks to build in the fish basement annex, so there might be a home for some Acestrorhynchus species yet.
Absolutely nuts and we absolutely love it. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you sir! 😊
Looking great! 😊
This is exciting to be finally filling it up!!
Most definitely! 😊
Keep in mind next time you have such a large fill-up not to use those stretchy types of hoses they severely restrict your waterflow making it take much longer. Awesome job love your videos!!
I don't think I caught it on film, but I was using my stretchy hose and a normal hose....and it still took forever 😊
Really enjoy your videos thanks!
Thank you!
Bravo buddy, much respect !
Thanks! 😊
Super cool! Love it! I know for sure it will hold water!
Thanks! It should (fingers crossed) 😊
Looking awesome! Great job and loving to see the progress. This is the Cats Pajamas for sure!
Thank you! 😊
I'm loving every bit of it man. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I wish I could do something like that in my house! I look forward to the next video.
Thanks James! Hopefully the scape turns out as I am imaging....I am looking at thousands of lbs of scaping materials out on the driveway....not looking forward to moving it all, but it will be worth it when its done. 🙂
@AquariumDomain. did I hear you say you're in indiana? If so if you ever need help I'll give you my contact info I'll be glad to come help you.
@@jamessutton3513 Appreciate that, but I am in Maryland. 😊
Thanks for sharing. This is awesome.
Thank you! 🙂
Amazing work, 👏.
Thank you 🙌
I would have the pumps mounted on the inside of the front above the glass on the far side, and pump the water to the wetland filter. Also run the pipes on the inside under the bracing above the glass so its not visable and easily servicable, as well if you get a leak from the pump or pipes it goes right back into the tank instead of anywhere else.
You nailed it! That is exactly what I plan to do. :-)
Absolutely amazing!
Thank you!
That's got to be a proud moment I wish I could have experienced it I have fish but I don't have the room to build anything like that
It really was a long time coming, the build is definitely in the final stages now! 🙂
Not your knees!!!! 😂😂 Loving this tank build.
Thanks Todd! Yeah didn't even think I would be risking my knees with this build lol 😆
Looking great mate.
Thanks!
I've watched you so much it feels like im there with you 😂
That's awesome! We are getting super close now, I think you will like the progress in the next video! 😊
Woow… u got there…. Congratulations bro… ❤ this… thank u4 Sharing
Thanks ColossalKoi!
Great work!
Thanks! 🙂
I wanna be you when I grow up. You are livin' the dream, brother.
Lol 😁 absolutely!
Okay yeah the silicone job on this project is really really good. That electric silicone gun must definitely be as good as you say it is cuz that is CLEAN!
That electric silicone gun is legit! I really thought it was all about saving my hand, but it is way more about how consistently the silicone is discharged...really a game changer. (wish I had figured this out 20 years ago lol 😊)
Amazingly done! You are my new favorite fish 🐠 CZcams channel. You have some beautiful salt water fish as well. Looking forward to seeing the 4500 scape and filtration set up!
Thank you very much! 😊
@@AquariumDomain.You’re welcome 🤗

Great video fella keep it up 👍
Thanks, will do!
Looking good sir !!
Thank you sir! 😊
Get in touch with Ed the Pond Professor regarding your research about your new wetland filter 💪🏼 absolute stunning build, keep it up buddy 🔥
I have probably watched all of the aquascape videos on filtration already lol 😊
@@AquariumDomain. I can imagine 😃 can't wait to see your next steps - the bell is on 🔥
Looking great mate Thomas from Sweden 🙂👍
Thanks Thomas! 😆
If I ever have a large scale fish room, I think I’m gonna install a drainage system across the floor and walls in the event of a catastrophic failure
Never a bad idea to have safe guards in place 😊
Did you consider having water trucked in, would be way faster and the cost might be off set by using your house water and bill
Such a lot of work has gone in to this project, just to get to this point! Well done and fingers crossed all will be well. I would have put something like decorators paper on the floor in front of it too make it easy to spot even the tiniest leak.
Thank you! 🙂
Awesome job brother
Thanks 👍
I'm thinking that you should have integrated an overflow/pump bay some kind to supply wetland filter
I have my final design for the pumps and plumbing now and I would say it is similar-ish to pump intake bay.
Awesome! Are you on a well or public water? Great job!
Thanks! I am on a well.
Piece of mind = priceless 👌

@AquariumDomain. old Mastercard commercial or was it Amex? 🤔
@@philcavallini9657 I wanna say Amex 🙂
@@AquariumDomain. me too
☀️☀️☀️use Mrs Wages pickling lime in your make up water for your saltwater aquariums. It’s a constant source of calcium and will promote strong coraline algae growth full of purple and red colors. Just add a whole container and let it sit on the bottom of your container. No need to stir it up. It will dissolve to the point of saturation and then it will be fine with undissolved lime on the bottom. One container usually last about a year to dissolve completely. I’ve used it in all my saltwater aquariums
I will have to look into that one 😊
@@AquariumDomain. to be extremely clear. I had a 30 gallon Rubbermaid container for my RO/di make up water. I just dumped in the pickling lime stirred it up initially and let it settle to the bottom of the container overnight. This saturates the water with calcium. Because of this I needed to test alkalinity weekly. If alkalinity dropped I simply added some alkalinity buffer in liquid form to the tank sump. If you decide to do corals I highly recommend calcium reactors in addition to the pickling lime method
My friend, dont keep saying you're dumb, what you are doing with this is absolutely great
Thanks! Hard to be patient during the test fill, I so much want to start aquascaping this beast lol 😉
put a pump on both ends one to push the other to pull. this will increase flow to the max of the pumps capacity.
Hmm 🧐
Think you should paint the inside a sky blue so you can see your fish better.
I think when you see it with the substrate, aquascape and with lighting installed it will look good. 😊
Not the first time this has been done but it still blows me away people do it when it works out more expensive than other methods and has such a short lifespan.....
Look forward to the next build in about 3-5 years once the rot sets in, hopefully none of your neighbours around you are growing gourmet mushrooms at home or you going to be in real trouble....
🙄
Hurry with next video.😂 we want to see more water🤣👍
😊
Absolutely fascinating! Thank you for sharing your hobby and inspiring me! All hail the new king of DIY #newkingofDIY
My pleasure! I really enjoy having other fish enthusiasts to share my hobby with! 😊
@@AquariumDomain.Much appreciated! This tank makes my 8x3x3 with a 6x2x2 sump look like a baby, you could probably fit that volume in the wetland filter bay! Personally, I would be interested to see a genuine South American Dovi biotope in your setup, would be great to see apex predators in an eco system etc. However, I'm excited to see your ideas as your other tanks are fascinating and beautiful. The sheer scale of this build is breathtaking, the aquascaping materials and scheme are on a huge scale! Better get your buddy to help you bring all the substrate etc in! How are you going to wash all the substrate out? Not the most exciting job! 😊
@@sulemanibnmoosa I have 4 big mounds of rock and gravel on the driveway getting cleaned by rain and the hose 🙂 the sand I will have to wash and drain in the tank before I do the final fill up.
Super nice
Thank you! 😊
Measure the GPH flow with just the one pump and compare to the 2-pump system of having one pushing the water the other pulling. this system negates the loss of flow from head height / pipe length.
I am definitely curious to see the flow difference as each pump is put online.
so exciting! love how you kept poking fun at that comment..haha
can you please do a cost break down for this build. thinkings like
wood
glass
fiberglass
pond shield
silicone
hardware
and how it compared to your other builds.
would be interesting to come up with a formula for cost per gallon. I know things are always changing but would give one a ballpark idea.
I will do a cost breakdown of the build when it is complete and also I will be releasing another video that will show the build from start to finish. 🙂
@@AquariumDomain.
Nice!!
Could have just used structural GRK lags and it wouldn't have split your braces, or just drill larger pilot holes. I'm sure you got a little upset about that. Amazing tank sir!
Thanks!
I wish I had been watching the new build from when you started I probably would’ve suggested that you should have built that tank out wider so the front would line up with the support poles in the room. But I love the build and I hope to take what you show and build myself a tank someday soon
That would be an insane tank, but it would leave any room for the other builds :-)
I’ve been following you for quite a while now and I think I asked you this before but I’m in the thinking about stage of building an aquarium, is there a formula or a way to figure out how thick the glass needs to be?with this build I believe you should be crowned the new
King of DIY!
Unfortunately the chart I use is one I copied down (hand written) from the garf and monsterfishkeeper forums from 1999. I just wrote down the safety factor and glass size / type, I didn't write down the formula they used to come up with numbers.
@@AquariumDomain. that’s a start thank you can’t wait to see the finished tanks!
Wow, I can’t wait to see the stock you’re going to introduce to this beast. I love the way your cat is always with you does he follow you around my cat follows me up and down the stairs where ever I go ,l if I go in the garden he’s behind me they’re great little companions aren’t they 👍☺️
I would put my house on that tank holding water. I have full faith in you.
Hehe yeah she is my shadow...never too far away. :-) (not to spoil the next video, but after 4 days of test water fill we are good to go...no leaks) :-)
Got this stocked in my head 50 wild discus 20 Altum angels a dozen geophagus 50 brochis splendis assorted whiptail cats and tetras one comfy chair to sit in every evening 👍
I bet if you multiplied that stock list by 10x they would still hardly put a dent in this tank. 😊
@@AquariumDomain. yeah but I'd be in more debt than a liberal arts student 😧
@@BadlydrawnBen Now that is some serious dept LOL 🙂
My understanding of pump placement is just that you never want to restrict the inflow. So I think a longer pipe for the inflow would possibly restrict it more? I’m no expert though, it’s just a tidbit I heard somewhere along the line.
That is what I am thinking as well.
Any chance you could put together documentation, like supply lists, supply sources, schematics and instructions? You could maybe put it up as perk for channel members? Maybe not for the 4500 but some of your smaller but still big as hell aquariums? I'd be willing to shell out a few bucks for that kind of stuff. In any case, love the build- keep it up!
I did a 4 part step by step build series for building a 315 gallon tank using these same methods. Also once the build is done I am doing a video on the entire build start to finish with material costs and final costs.
It may be best when you fill it to do the test just put your pumps in to see how it's going to flow because every tank flows different
I figure with the multiple pumps/plumbing lines it gives me some flexibility if I need to increase or decrease the flow.
You could also swim lengths.
For sure! 😊
Epic!
Thanks Phil! 😊
I have just had a thought would it not look nicer and do the same job if you used flat lengths of steel for the crossbeams treated of course galvanised or even aluminium to prevent rusting you would barely notice them, just an idea ???
Certainly not a bad idea, but I am using the cross braces for the river bank structure and for the part of the lid system; as well as, something I can climb on when needed. :-)
What's your thoughts on using swimming pool glass fence panels on a plywood tank?
I am not familiar with what that is, I will have to take a look at it. 😊
It would be more healthy for your pumps to push rather that pull that length of water, that’s a very long pipe to be empty priming a massive system you’ve built.. this is going to be an amazing tank to see👏👏
Yeah I agree completely, I think I have the right design now incorporating all the good feedback I received.
Can't wait to see the progress. By the way, haters are a great sign of success 😂
Yeah, unfortunately that is very true 🙂
Would you consider using acrylic rather than glass? I guess rhere is a significant cost uplift? Would you be kind enough to give us an idea of approx cost? Im fascinated by your projects, please keep sharing!
I am not a huge fan of acrylic, I would probably only use it if I was doing a really tall tank and required it. It does cost significantly more, but also scratches very easily and doesn't adhere to silicone like glass does.
My prediction is you will never have a leak with all that you put into it. My hat is off to you as this a Herculean task! There are very few people that would attempt to do this by themselves. By the way what is the size of the overlap seal around the glass also what is the viewing panel size?
I hope so, I truly did over build it at all stages of the build 😊
The silicone gasket is about 3" all the way around and the viewing panels are each just under 7' long.
I would pull the water, pushing the water allows too much chance for a clog to occur over the full length of the tank.
Make sense. 🙂
Had to step out so may have missed it, but what are you going to do with all of that water when you, hopefully, pass your water test?
Just drain it out into the backyard. (I am on a well so essentially return it back to where it came from 🙂)
Wow that will be epic, so how thick is the glass???
It’s 1/2” he said
yep 1/2" tempered.
How do you maintain temperature and parameters on a setup this massive?
And water changes?
I heat / cool the basement and the tanks stay roughly within a degree or two of that. Drain and fill for water changes, but I am on an aquifer well so no chemicals needed.
