      There is no cons with having a filter like this, but the biggest downside with having it mounted like this is that it will suck in war air from the engine bay. Better have it closed.

    More dirt go in to the engine because, more and easier airflow means usually less resistance and when it happens, filtering dust and some other particles is less then ideal for long lasting engine.
    It gives you more turbo sound and less years before engine rebuild or scrab yard.
    I do not recommend do that and even less if you have stock, unmodified car.
    If you really want better flow maybe filter with direct replacement for the stock one is better option, then you at least get fresh cool air too it, and maybe some sound too, but then the sound is not priority.

      to be fair, even the 300 dollar air intakes, which are usually ram air intakes sucking in warm air from the engine bay unless they're mounted entirely under front fender area which i've rarely seen aside from every blue moon, will almost always result in some heat soaking in the long run...at least here, you're not spending 200+ dollars on a useless, steel, or silicone tubing system, and just a $30 cone itself...one gain is that it'll give you a much deeper engine growl which will surely benefit alot of lawmower sounding 4 banger and v6's in that sense..alot of people install them for the sound alone which is why you'll see various vehicles, especially at meets, with air intake sitting right in the upper engine compartment.....

    • @logut80
      @logut80 Před rokem +1

      Engine masters iced an intake down, packed in as much ice as they could get around and got no gains from icing the intake completely. There has to be a drastic change in temp to affect power
