Dude you are an absolute Vocal Training God !! I could sing Mr.Big and all those edgy songs like that when i was in my teens or early 20's but then i lost it. After i started following your guidelines like 4/5 years back i can sing them easily now and and on top of that i can pull off MJ too and that too the difficult songs, like the way you make me feel and all. May God bless you dude, i know i don't need to follow any other trainer cause you cover all the aspects a professional singer like me or even a beginner or even an absolute rockstar/popstar need to know, cheers !

What about a purring trill over a raspberry trill? Do they focus on different areas of the throat? I was told you can only make the healthy purr tone with an open throat meaning the tongue is already out of the way whereas the raspberry trill you're forcing your tongue out in a place where it normally wouldn't be when singing. I'm not dissing the raspberry trill (lol), just wondering if it achieves a different thing than the purr/healthy gurgle tone or if its kind of the intermediary from lip to purr.
Sorry to report my reply to your comment I didn't know if you'd see this comment otherwise with your 780K subs lol

Guys, PLEASE stop asking me for ways in which you can CHEAT! As I stated in the video, this takes PRACTICE. I'm amazed at how quickly some (emphasis on "SOME") of you are willing to quit, just because it's not easy. Maybe it's the culture of today - everyone is seeking immediate gratification. Whatever the reason, I'm seeing WAAAY too many questions asking me if it's ok to do something else - like a lip trill - in place of the raspberries. Stop whining, and just DO THE WORK. It'll pay off; I promise you. Stop sabotaging yourselves, and just do the work.

Your voice has improved so much over the years. You are living proof of what these techniques can do. It's more important that you show improvement rather than just "effortless" or "natural" talent. SO many "vocal teachers" think that because they have an inherent kinesthetic understanding of strong, healthy vocalization, it means they can teach.
These "teachers" get frustrated at their own students and oftentimes just regurgitate "sing from your diaphragm." They honestly think all singing is, is lying down on the floor with a book on your stomach, and making the book go up and down. I tremble with rage when I think about it too long, but then I remind myself that you're on CZcams doing God's work. God bless you.

    • @ericarceneaux
      @ericarceneaux  Před 7 lety +28

Thank you so much, Yanis!!! And I can understand the rage all too well. Unfortunately, I've studied under a few of those kinda teachers in the past (especially when I was studying music in college). -- I'm so glad that you can hear the growth, cuz God knows I've been WORKING 😅. lol. And what I learn, I teach. It's very important to me that my students/viewers see that I'm an artist experiencing this process of development, too. I still take lessons from other master teachers. I still study. I still practice daily. Being a professional voice teacher doesn't exempt me from the responsibility of continuing to hone my craft. In my opinion, if you've got a teacher who thinks he/she knows it all, RUN. Run away, and find a teacher who understands that you never stop learning. lol ...Thanks again 😊

Brother, you are a fantastic teacher.
When I was in my early 20’s I had a huge range and nothing felt out of reach. Unfortunately, I didn’t do anything with it (long story). In my last years of my 30’s I decided to finally give it a go and firmed a rock band.
Whilst I could still sing, I quickly realised my voice was nowhere near what it used to be and I figured it was lost forever............
Then I saw your videos and I realised what I was doing wrong. I’d say my voice now is as good at 40 as it was at 22.
    Thank you brother

For those of you who are struggling, here's something that really helped for me. If I just kept trying to do it over and over, I just kept doing the wrong things over and over. So what worked for me was to give it *one* really concentrated attempt, then do something to break it up. Do some of the yawning/coughing from the other videos. Make sure you're relaxed enough to do a solid lip roll. Stretch out your shoulders/chest. Bounce from one leg to the other a little. Wiggle anything that feels a little tight. Whatever you're feeling in the moment to work out some tension, then square up your body, do the rooted breathing completely fresh, and try again.

I feel like my voice has always had a weird crackle to it almost like I was continuously doing a vocal fry while talking but after the raspberry trill the crackle was gone. Oooh Thank you for this I'm excited to better my voice and to master the raspberry trill and other vocal excersises.

I've mastered it after two weeks of every day practice. :) Wow, thank you, Eric! Love your clear-cut tutorials so much. For those of you who're struggling with it: just keep your body super relaxed, pay attention to Eric's instructions about the abs pulling in and up and the ribs expanding while you're at it, don't try to force it, and the rasp. trill will come to you naturally after some time. Actually, this is such a fun and relaxing thing to do!

I have been following you and watching the videos you make for almost 2 years now. I have 3 children at 24 years old and work full time. so funding, and time.. is two reasons I haven't gotten professional voice lessons.
I grew up never meeting my father and my mother was always working. singing was an escape for me and in a weird way gave me the love feeling I feel I didn't get as a child.
I have progressed so much from where I was just from watching your free videos.
thank you so much! you put a lot of effort into your videos and helping others. I appreciate you so much and maybe one day will follow my dream of going for the voice or Americas got talent and really trying to give myself a shot at doing what I love most, connecting through music.
    much respect n love, Ryan

I've watched this before and was caught up in other vocal exercises but after about 15 minutes I started seeing some results, as in able to raise and lower pitch and it felt like a good throat massage. No doubt with continued practice this will improve. Thanks, man.

Just found your video. I've been singing karaoke in my home for about 2 years now. I started off knowing nothing and have learned quite a bit through trial and error and listening to my own audio recordings to see where I need to make improvements. I came here to find out what it is that I still don't know.
I stumbled into learning body volume control recently because I didn't like the lack of fullness in my voice when I'd listen back to the audio recordings that I made.
I taught myself to open and relax the entire esophagus, chest and throat area so that I could access a more full sounding range in my vocals. *One thing that I noticed when do this is that my overall low and high range increased dramatically.*
I was lucky if I could complete a 2nd tenor karaoke song effortlessly.
Now, 1st tenor is easy for me because of the very exercises outlined in this video.
Songs that I had written off as impossible for me to ever sing are being dredged back up for another go. Most of these songs, I can now sing without a struggle.
Some are now simply a matter of voice strengthening and I'm hoping within 3 to 6 months, I will have conquered those songs as well.
My daughter is a lead singer is a classic rock and grunge band. She's been taking vocal lessons for about 9 months.
I've been teaching her recently how to access more fullness in her singing. She's now able to sing many more songs in the lower ranges that were previously past her breaking point and never believed that she could sing before.
I'm seriously surprised at how many actual vocal coaches *DONT* teach this to vocal students...? It blows me away.
This should literally be vocals 101 right after warm-ups.
Amazing voice btw. I look forward to using your lessons on a constant basis in the future.

Damn it's crazy how people want to cheat after doing this for one day I have felt a major difference in my voice and how I sing so just think of if you do these for a week how good you can actually be it's the getting it down pack part that needs the practice if u want to be good at what you do it doesn't come easy! There is no easy way out of anything you will just find yourself taking the long way out
