    Addendum, use a drum machine app in conjuncture to the metronome to make it less boring. Scales to a sick beat are much more fun 😁

    The only thing I would advice that if you transpose and practice you will miss playing many important scales.

    Thanks once again. Another great video. I have been helping my daughter (age 6 yrs) learn piano for the last one yr or so. I have not got her admitted to a piano school yet, due to lack of good schools around. I have implemneted three of the five points mentioned by you: transcribe, metronome and regular schedule. I must say, I am already seeing good results.
    I have 2 questions for you :). I would really appreciate if you can give some directions:
    1. couple of great piano lesson books for beginners.
    2. i have yamaha p115 digital piano. is that an appropriate one for beginners and intermediate players? or should i go for something else?

      I think classical music is a great source of inspiration and technique. It's timeless and really challenges every aspect of your playing. Bach is a personal favorite of mine, and has pieces ranging from beginner to advanced (just google "Bach pieces for beginners" or something like that to get ideas - and everything is available online freely!).

      As always, start simple, and start with cases where you know the answer. For example, take a song you know that has sheet music, transcribe it, and then compare to the sheet music.

    0:40 Well.. theres perfect pitch, which is(by many considered and often mentioned as) among the highest advantages of learning any new skill. Not a shortcut but still a silverbullet.. many/most don't even know they have it till they pick up an instrument

    • @MangoldProject
      @MangoldProject  Před 4 lety

      Perfect pitch is usually more of a hindrance than an advantage. Ask anyone who plays a transposed instrument (such as clarinet or sax). I'll take good relative pitch over absolute pitch anyday. But I get what you're saying.

    • @LeROYtheLAMA
      @LeROYtheLAMA Před 4 lety

      @@MangoldProject I've heard many vocal-coaches make that argument about singing, so I guess it makes sense..
      Comment was based on my presumption of it primarily being a Piano Channel, but title is clear enough though so my bad..
      I haven't done any real research and wasn't presenting it as a fact, which is why I wrote "considered by many".
      I really don't think it's a hindrance in Learning! guitar, piano.. but I can see the possibility of becoming a problem for some professional musicians ..but again, I'm no expert.

    I actually agree with Jeff Berlin on not using a metronome. It only causes one to feel stressed and results in learning mistakes that have to be corrected later, instead of accepting and embracing a fluid time during the learning period, so it can be a relaxed process with as little frustration as possible. Check this: tinderwetstudios.com/practice-without-metronome/

      Both are essential. For triads and 7th chords, you must familiarize yourself with both. For more complex chords you usually memorize particular voicings that sound good to you (or even particular cadences).
