Imagine the absolute horror you'd feel seeing the gigantic, steel, humanoid alien creature you've been keeping in cryostasis for over 70 years start breaking out of the ice, exclaim "I am Megatron!" start destroying everything in their path, most likely killing multiple people. And then, it does a nigh impossible transformation into an alien jet, flying off to kill more people.

You described exactly why I adore 07 Megatron specifically, he's such an animal in this one. I think it also helps that his design is really symmetrical and looks the most humanoid out of all the Decepticons that appear.

Lol he was going all out cause in his mind if he would have died here the Decepticons would have likely took the allspark which would end Earth, so this theory that he was holding back never made any sense , He also didn't get stronger in the later movies , Megatron just got weaker after his original body was messed up, in The Last Knight he was again flooring Optimus and they could not defeat him eventho it was like a 4v1

i like rotf design the most. Wished he had a good 1v1 in the movie with prime. But I think a tank suits Megatron more being a gun originally. The design isn't perfect, but I think its the most iconic one
To be honest I miss this version of movie Megatron from the live action Transformers movie. His design is pretty mixed with me and I do prefer his design from Revenge Of The Fallen and The Last Knight. But something about this Megatron that the other version of movie Megatron has been missing. In this movie, he is scary, dangerous, massive and let's not forget he is very powerful and strong that the humans, Autobots, and even Optimus Prime has hard time defeating him. He is that strong and dangerous. I miss 2007 Megatron.

Megatron in the 1st film is one of my favourite characters ever. He's powerful, scary, has a really cool design, has interesting motives, and has tons of quotable lines. Such a great character. Shame he wasn't as good in the sequels

Tanks are meant for concentrated firepower and durability. Jets are for speed and long-range combat. A jet is better against a truck.
Not only is this likely his fastest alt form, the jet itself is cybertronian, so trying to blast through an earth-made building would be like throwing a bowling ball through a window

Saw this movie when I was 8. I was amazed by Black Hawk destroying the army base but when Megatron got free I was terrified. Just completely changed the tone of the movie. Something so terrifying the other autobots just ran on sight and Optimus stood no chance. The scene with Sam running from him up the stairs and Megatron erupting into the ceiling to grab at him is still one that lives rent free in my head and gave me nightmares for a while when I was younger. They did an amazing job designing him in this film and the voice acting really brought it to life.

@@TACTIK00L I mean, you don't even have to make Megatron OP. Historically, Megatron and Optimus have always been equal. It's just that Megatron is more tactful and opportunistic. You know something is terribly wrong when Megatron puts up a better fight in a 5 minute Universal Studios ride than in any of the later films. Although Megatron definitely held his own in the climax of The Last Knight needing to be ganged up on by multiple Autobots and still being able to fend off Optimus with only one arm.

That's pretty hard to recover from and having your mind downloaded into a man-made body, which you can barely retain yourself. He wasn't wasted, it's more realistic. Pretty sure a human can't handle all of that damage and being decapitated aswell.

Funny enough, there were Transformers cutaway gags.
Something that micheal bay never understood was that Optimus and megatron need to exist in tandum to keep balance. By killing off megatron and making him weaker he couldn’t match prime in the later films thus the balance of power shifted with Optimus becoming way to strong and dark and not unlike other versions where he is wise and careful, by age of extinction he became reckless and he couldn’t keep his emotions in check. Had micheal bay let them work in tandum letting neither be more powerful in the end they could have had a great relationship arc over the course of the films that led up to megatron siding with Optimus to take down quintessa and unicron. The purpose of megatron and Optimus is to deliver the message of balance to the audience neither good or bad should be stronger than the other as of either is stronger it ultimately leads to a number of disasters for the characters. Micheal bay should have made prime and megatron “perfectly balanced as all things should be”
apparently at the end of transformers 3 bay intended to have megatron offer a genuine truce to optimus prime who would take it and they would vow to rebuild cybertrom together, but paramount wanted sequels so declared that megatron had to die (however that worked)
I believe the reason bay did what he did is to prevent a situation like transformers prime where it becomes ONLY Megatron vs Optimus even though they have all these other characters. Don't get me wrong I love that series but most the climactic battles are just the 2 beating their feelings away. Had bay done what you said Megatron could have ended up just figuring out a way to destroy earth like he did (almost) in tf prime. But that's just my thoughts 😁
What's strange is Megatron is clearly more powerful in the 1st movie, but in the second, not only is he less powerful than before, but Optimus becomes OP. I wish they would've just had Optimus get stronger and match Megatrons level instead of kind of flipping the dynamics.
The best Megatron design
I like to imagine that Megatron and the other Decepticons could have made themselves more human-like but deliberately didn't, because they don't care about humans and are disgusted by us, so they don't hide their alien appearance.
and it's also cool that at some points Megatron spoke his own language
and the moment where he kills Jaz and almost defeats Optimus just showed how strong and ruthless he was that it cost him nothing to tear Autobot apart
at this point he looked like a giant bird of prey which was even more awesome and creepy
also the way he was chasing Sam...
it's a shame they messed him up so badly in the next movies.

This Megatron was awesome. Literally, it took the entire military and the autobots to defeat him like he was kicking Optimus prime’s ass. I liked when the Deceptacon’s were actually powerful, and the autobots had to use teamwork to beat them .
You know as i look at this fight. Megaton is a straight up close quarters brawler. He likes using his superior strength and power to man handle his enemies.
In revenge of the fallen he fights in a more open field where Optimus has room to move around more and get close in his terms but every time Megatron lands a hit it dose serious damage.

6:05 man it upsets me to see how badass Megatron was in the first movie before he turned into a punching bag for the sequels, Mf literally handing it to prime in CQB here.. Megatron here actually felt like the cybertron fighting champion we knew he was in the old cartoons and games. TF1 will always be my favorite of the series, the decepticons actually felt like a threat and were so menacing
Megatron was cannonically a gladiator before starting the decepticons so he was always better at fighting than prime
This is why Megatron is my favourite in the tf movies, despite the fact that he gets weaker as the movies progress, in his original form, he was unstoppable, when he wanted to achieve his objectives or get rid of anyone trying to stop him.

In the final scene when the F-22 raptors fire missiles against Megatron, and are the only things that hurt him in the entire movie… that was Starscream. He still tried to betray Megatron

The first movie hit every note perfectly.
Casting, dialogue, script, CGI, fight choreography, comedic timing, soundtrack, and even how Megatron became Kratos by saying "BOY!"
Also, this was the scariest cinematic version of the Decepticons, so they had to tone it down for the sake of kids watching. That's why everything is so corny now, except Bumblebee.
