Of all the video's I've watched of cops being arrested for DUI, this is the first one where the arresting officers didn't continually apologize for having to arrest them. This one was a breath of fresh air with the cop being matter of fact and just doing his job, well done.

The untold truth about many of these intoxicated off duty cops is they have a drinking problem that has not been dealt with, and getting arrested is where getting straightened out usually starts. I saw this during my 30 yr career (retired ‘97) with some of them getting treatment after completing a court ordered alcohol program, but most were justifibly fired.
Thank you for your service. I know cops and other 1st responders see things we could only imagine in our worst nightmares. It takes a toll after a while. Some people seem to forget that 1st responders are human too and some will turn to substances to try to cope. I'm grateful the courts and/or police departments often try to offer therapy and rehabilitative services 1st. I think compared even to when you served, there's fortunately been much more recognition and acceptance of the potential for difficulties to develop and therefore services made available, both preemptively and after. Strides in the right direction. Despite the times and attitudes of some, there's still an awful lot of people out here who are grateful and hold a lot of admiration and appreciation for all of you.

The US is decades behind Australia, when it comes to DUI detection. We have hand held breath alcohol units, which analyse alcohol levels, within 10 seconds and we have had them for about 35 years. It's pretty embarrassing that you still rely on these old techniques from the 1950s.
Lol 😂 The US also has breathalyzer detection and has had it for the LoNGEsT time , they do this to show how physically impaired you are , because the average person not under the influence should be able to do these physical tasks without a problem . This also helps in the investigation to secure a DUI in court .
