  • Hi everobody ! It's time for another Boeing 787 video ! This one was actually filmed a while ago, before COVID. You may notice I didn't have all recent cameras yet, and unfortunately I don't have a displays view on the 787 yet :/ Enjoy the views on this departure from Cancun, Mexico!

    I am now retired. I was a commercial flight instructor / flight examiner attached to a large pilot training organisation. We trained crew who went on to fly for major airlines all over the globe. I occasionally watch videos similar to this and wonder if the guy or girl at the controls was one of my young hopeful students or flight test candidate, ten or more years ago.

    What's the typical pitch you aim to maintain on the B787 after rotation, on other aircraft it's 15-20 degrees nose up but looks significantly less on the 787s, is there a reason for this also?

      I don't know whether the 787 is underpowered or the takeoffs are highly de-rated but I always see 787s climbing much more slowly after takeoff than the narrowbodies such as 737 or a320.

      Thanks ! :) I turned them off to do some manual flying. It's fun and it's to stay proficient. Taking off without them is not a good idea on the 787, in case of engine failure. That's why I took off with them ON and then later asked to turn them off ;) Hope that makes sense

      It's unfair to compare as the 787 is a much more modern design. However it does have its drawbacks too. The 787 is so complex and full of software, the 737 is a basic design and I feel like I know how it works, compared to the 787. • @Marix498
      @Marix498 Před 2 lety

      It seems it was enough runway to stop at V1 speed. Automatic rejected take off brakes are very powerfull... About runway left after VR and while taking off... It doesn't matter, continuing is the only option after VR... V1 speed is calculated according to runway lenght, actual conditions, weather, aircraft configuration etc. It must be possibile to stop the aircraft at V1 everytime.
