its so cool that Nigerian food is becoming more popular and appreciated
I know right :D
West African food in general is insanely underrated in my opinion.
Ethiopian food is the shit I forget the name of it but that flatbread stuff with all the meats and stuff on top that you just like rip off MMMMM
@@hanscapon222 I think the flatbread in mind is injera?
@@edrickjohnson2857 yep, thanks.
@@hanscapon222 Ethiopia is in east Africa but I get what you mean
@@hanscapon222 i wanna try ethiopian food so bad
Zobo seems to be the same (or very similar, at least) as mexican "agua de jamaica" made out of dried hibiscus flower; we call It "flor de jamaica"
I was just thinking it looks like sorrel (Jamaican/Caribbean) which is made from dried hibiscus.
It's the same thing. 👍🏾❤️🇳🇬
Yep, the same!
Sorrel
Yup! Our Jamaican cousins took it to the "new world". Zobo is drunk in different variations all across the West African coast & I'm still partial to Zobo from Nigeria. The hibiscus just has a yummy, wine-like, umami-floral flavor that the flor de Jamaica or Caribbean sorrel transplants just don't.
Her lavender head covering/hijab was so pretty 💜
As a nigerian im so happy ppl appriciate our food tbh ive never tried any of these maybe one but still rlly appreciate how ppl like our culture god bless!!
Love all the foods here but also remember some of the basics. Jollof Rice, Rice and Stew, Fried Rice (different from Asian fried rices).
They are very common and VERY good.
I wish i could find those here in Greece they look delicious 🤤
Dont yall have Nigerian immigrants over there in Greece?
Yah! I've been wishing you could try Nigerian food. I'm a Nigerian subscriber and my favorite food is Banga soup and pounded yam.
Please tell me more about banga soup!
@@adedow1333 Banga soup is made from palm nut fruits and assorted meats and fish. It's so rich and creamy and I always ask my mum to make it whenever I go home.
I'm excited about that hibiscus drink! That one of my favorite flavors!
it would be fun to look at how different countries do 'western food'. korea puts strawberry jam in savoury sandwiches, for example, and i think other countries put mayonnaise as a pizza topping
Eeek 😞
@@lavenderoh the jam one i found out the hard way. triple decker tuna mayo, potato salad and strawberry jam sandwich. i didn't think it could be jam but it was jam. this was prepackaged food
I wish there was more Nigerian food on the west coast 🥲
Woah I never thought of ordering!
But now I will....thank you!
I'm in MCR UK and have Nigerian roots but have never really tried Niga foods and would looove to try some. A Nigerian lady I used to baby sit for, made me a steamed blended red lentil and red palm oil kind of savoury cake/dumpling? Often but I can't remember what it was called but I think about it often 😂
*naija not the way you spelt it.
I’d guess it was a variation of a dish we call ‘moi moi’ usually made with black eyed beans
I think that might be “Okpa”.
You should do American BBQ from different states! Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, etc
Please don't forget Kansas! That my favorite! (Sorry, Texas!)
Make sure to avoid Lexington and go with Eastern Carolina barbecue if you're doing NC lol SC has some really delicious gold barbecue too. But Lexington, ick..
🇳🇬 Naija to the world!
One of my short time roommates made Zobo when we lived together and I've been obsessed since. I've even tried to convince my mom to do it if she got more than 1 hibiscus
Ooooh that hibiscus drink looks so refreshing!
Cold hibiscus tea is indeed amazing and I recommend to try it. Super tangy and floral, yet very refreshing.
god every dish looks so delicious i want to try them 😭😭😭 african food is the best
Oh please do greek foods especially the village style ones!
That all looks delicious omg
As a Nigerian its rlly heart warming to see people recognising us and not saying bad things about our country!
They just opened a Nigerian restaurant near my office and I am obsessed
I always loved when my aunties Africans friends would come over they would always bring the best food 😌👍
Suya is that food that honest to God made me leave this earth
Back in Nigeria we had a place we went but idk if that’s how all of them taste
I have never tried Nigerian food in my life and when my friend introduced me to it and I was so surprised. Their food slapsss !
Iove this kind of videos! It helps me to learn more about food cultures around the world that i didn’t know about!
Gonna try thatdried hibiscus leaf drink, I live in the tropics so we have a lot.
Depending on where you live, your county might already have a variant
"Suya is sth we enjoy as a family.."
werey
Yaaaaay - represent!! I'd definitely recommend Red chicken stew (you fry onions and tomatoes, add a bunch of spices, let the chicken cook. You can cook it for longer and let it get tender but Nigerians got strong ass teeth and enjoy tough meat too) with griess or rice. Griess is a great alternative for anyone that doesn't like Fufu.
I live in NorCal and was curious where the closest Nigerian restaurant is to me and it's almost 200 miles away 😅 Definitely wanna try it next time I go south.
I would absolutely love to try there amazing & delicious foods!!!❤️ I'm drooling
Im very confident and proud of our sambal and other spicy dishes but the last dishes makes my curious picked up
The hibiscus drink is also popular in senegal. My father immigrated from there and we called it Bissap(?) Growing up. Sorry if I spelled it wrong but thats the closest I could get based on how we pronounced it when I was a young lady.
I'm Nigerian and my fav snack from these Is suya but my fav soup is okra soup my mom does not make it like that tho all of these are so good and I"m very proud to be Nigerian.
I just tried the hibiscus juice, it was so sweet and refreshing
As a Mexican, I love me some hibiscus drinks, so I’m looking forward to drinking some zobo when I get the chance.
Every single dish looks absolutely delicious. Gotta find some Nigerian food close to where I live!
Super excited to try out those dishes 🤩
Beryl! Haven't seen your vids since like last year. Always solid content
I'm literally drooling over the food 😭😭
Omg in Mexico we do the same thing with hibiscus. Agua de jamaica.
I would be interested in jollof rice. I mean it can be found nearly everywhere on the African continent but they are so different everywhere (except the rice of course).
Is there a rule/ tendency for the regions? What makes your jollof rice special and unique in your area? Or do you already know the answer to my question? I am curious. And thank in advance for the affort to reply ❤️
Have a nice day
What is your preferred way to have jollof rice? I haven't heard of this dish before, and I'm intrigued. And I hope you have a nice day too.
💛✌️🖖 From Beautiful Canada ❄️🇨🇦❄️
I'm from Nigeria and Party Jollof rice though it has kinda the same ingredients as other Jollof rice hits different and I think it's cos it's cooked over and open fire with firewood in giant pots that could fit an adult. It's flavor is just not the same as homemade Jollof
Jollof rice … nearly everywhere ? North and South Africans don’t make jollof …
@@renee4319 , so none of the 260 million people that live in North or South Africa ever eat this dish?
@@renee4319 There are over 260 million people living in North and South Africa combined, and you're saying that none of them eat this rice dish, is that correct?
Looks good, especially that yam porridge.
That looks amazing, especially the hibiscus tea! Wish I knew where to get it 😮 you should also check out Lithuanian cuisine ☺️
Morocco's cuisine....
I LOVE HIBISCUS TEA
if u ever try colombian i suggest trying, arepa rellana, pan queso y chocolate ((that breakfest) and ajiaco and bandeja paisa are soooo delicious
Hibiscus drinks are everything to me
I want to try all of these!
More African foods! PLEASE!!
I’m sorry, but all their voices was so relaxing. Some accents are just so soothing to the ears. I like asmr where the creator has an accent ❤ I can eat soup year round!
They definitely need to include meatpie. Hands down my favorite food
The amala is to die for!!
Nigerian food Grub hub is actual grubs.
I've been loving your content but I've got some constructive feedback if you're open to it
you have to master your audio better, some clips are way softer than others and it makes for an awkward listening experience
scrolling through your shorts really emphasises how inconsistent the volume of these videos are
other than that i think this channel has really great content and I'm excited to see how it grows
I'd love to see one about Moroccan food, I made a B'stilla for Christmas and it was delicious
Nigerian food is my fav of all
Great content and yummy food 😋😋
As a southeast asian (indonesian) i found out we have so many similarities with african cuisine, in the ingridients, cooking,

In some other West African countries Zobo is called Bissap. You can find women who sell them across the street in little plastic bags for not much.

LET'S GOOOOOO
Bengali(west bengal one)...cause it's either dal makhni naan or dosa...we need some authentic bengali recipe pleaseeee
Please try Ghanaian cuisine
Have you done Indian? If so you should really delve more deeply i.e. north and South Indian food destinations east and west since there will be more east and south Asian influence in the east of Indian and even the different states. You could even do like a dosas around India or bhel puri where each state and heck even each person has their different version and recipe. Either way thank you for doing this for all the cultures and I love watching your videos and also learning about differences and similarities in cultures like the hibiscus tea from Nigeria and the hibiscus tea from Mexico either way THANKS I LOVE YOUR VIDS.
She just did tour around India cuisine and has several videos about it bc her husband is from India.
Idk if you’ve seen them but if you haven’t you could go see what she’s done.
I did north and South Indian!
