  • This clip, which is being used to illustrate Vince McMahon's press conference the night of Owen Hart's death, was included in the "Life and Death of Owen Hart" documentary, but no other footage is available online. Paul Jay did a great job with the documentary, so please at least make sure to check out his official upload of Wrestling With Shadows if you're looking for it: • Hitman Hart, Wrestling...

It only took up to 8 pounds of pressure to trigger it and Owen shifting to avoid discomfort and possible strangulation was easily 5 times that due to his size alone.
Snap shackles were meant to rig sailboats, while the stunt clips not only have a tougher clip, but also back up safety latches that hold it on, allowing support of up to 500 pounds. That’s exactly what the back up latches were there for.

Not in the way it was set to be performed/. The way it was rehearsed was the way he had done it several times before. He was just informed the week before that he would do a descent from the rafters.
They used a goddamn snap shackle, in which experts and even the manufacturers of said equipment stated that it was NOT AT ALL designed to carry a human. It took within 8 pounds of pressure to open that hook, and Owen easily exerted 3 times that with a deep breath due to his size. It took all of 40 seconds for him to step over the catwalk and move slightly before the hook opened and he started falling.
The reporter asking McMahon about why no backup lines or mechanisms being used was correct to ask that. Normally that is what is done. The clip that is used to descend a human would have been a heavy duty clip with back up safety latches, as well as attached to a backup line in case something with the primary system went wrong.
Watch his episode on the show Autopsy: The Final Hours Of… on peacock. It gives a forensic view and report on how Owen died.
It just further backs up Jim Cornette’s statement on how easily avoidable this whole situation was.

Why would Vince Russo write that in at the last minute just cause the guys that did sting were there and wanted to do something for them. Why would they have inexperienced people doing it? The guy they fired cause he was too much money said he won't do another stunt with the quick release thing cause it's too dangerous. They really did blame Owen for fiddling with his cape, there's video of him moving all around and getting attacked and he's still attached to the thing so I don't buy that.
