- Bob Costas didn't pull any punches when interviewing WWF (WWE) CEO Vince McMahon on the HBO show, On the Record, March, 2001 -Their first interview together-. McMahon clearly gets pissed off
- Zábava
You can bet Vince McMahon squeezed the shit out of Bob's hand at the end of that interview, haha.
+MrBrockHeinz yeah listen at that laugh when he was doing it
+MrBrockHeinz lol hell yeah vince is a bodybuilder! he prolly gave him a few "pats" on the back as well haha
+MrBrockHeinz Probably gave him a good Tombstone piledriver after the cameras turned off.
Edward Ray definitely powerbombed him onto the coffee table
He should have properly crushed it.
"The Bob Costas Interrupt Program"
Works for me too Vince!
The Bob Costas Interrupt Show.
The Vince McMahon Jerkoff Show.
Dumb american show
Just to try to keep you on point, go ahead👍
this is one of the problems with so many interviewers... ask a question and then 5 seconds into the answer they interrupt and try to direct the conversation in a different direction.
+RedroomStudios That's because nobody wants to hear or has time for a ten minute rambling answer. Get to the point or keep it moving.
+Torrey Green wrong bozo. a good interviewer asks a question and then sits back and listens to the answer. he doesnt interrupt because the guest isn't saying what you want him to say, like admitting he is "evil". you have a short attention span if you can't listen for more than 5 seconds. Costas looks like an idiot in this interview. he has his panties in a knot and makes it look as if he has a personal grievance with McMahon. and that doesnt mean I agree with what Vince says. an interview isnt about being proven right or wrong though, it's simply to allow the guest to express their opinion and to do that the interviewer needs to sit back and listen rather than making it into a confrontation.
Such an intelligent response. I'm so enlightened. NOT.
+Torrey Green you should be enlightened, I spelled out very simply and clearly for you.
Research the show "Crossfire". Interrupting equals TV ratings, which is what it is all about at the end of the day.
Honestly I think Vince did extremely well in what was a clearly one-sided attempt to attack Vince's character and the WWF/WWE. I've never really particularly liked Vince before but I got a lot of respect for him out of this.
You're damn right. I also can't stand when someone asks you something, CLEARLY a demonization / hit-piece / onslaught / ambush and then try to tell YOU WHAT YOUR ANSWER IS . Costas is a chickenneck jellyfish who gets off on bait trap questions..vOnly in America
the completely crooked biased media
Vince didn't just own Bob Costas on his own show... he straight up destroyed him.
Precisely.. Allways thought he was an ass, then listened to his interview on the Howard Stern show and this and he seems a class guy, obviously a cut throat business man, but that's business. The interviewer was an ass, only had negative, attacking questions, sometimes asking repeatedly without allowing a full reply, I love when sudo-intellectuals normally interview idiots, and when they interview somone intelligent they look like idiots.
Same here man, never rly cared for Vince, but yu know what, that's just his WWF/E character.. he's a smart fkng guy. Humble as hell, honest answers, and nothing to hide. The Purpose of this interview was to basically make a joke of him,and make him seem like a bad guy. When really it backfired, and now I know Bob Costas is a pompus p.o.s. puppet..
Xerxes' Real Dad You don't have to be a Condescending douche
It takes a huge level of douhbaggery to make Vince the likable person in an interview. Costas managed to pull that off here.
Well said
yeah Bob Costas was in the wrong here
Ha Ha Ha!!!
Idk Vince usually comes off quite well. Very well spoken and knowledgeable about the wrestling business's place in entertainment as a whole
You can tell Bob Costas never watches wrestling he didn't even know how Owen Hart actually died he was speaking like it came from a move.
John Doe I think you took his articulation wrong. Any movement, any type of movement is a maneuver lol
Bob costas was an early proponent of Vince’s. He was one of the few respected, straight men of sports who got IT as they say.
@Ziad Khaled he was supposed to make a superhero like entrance descending from the ceiling similar to sting in wcw but something went tragically wrong and he plummeted about eighty feet to the ring
What?????? He said maneuver and even did a hand gesture like someone falling. Bob was a huge wrestling fan.
Football is also a violent sport yet I always see bob at halftime right after a beer commercial.
That's because he's a hypocritical piece of shit
At least they can get time off..
I'll bet good money the NFL is responsible for more TBI's than WWE could ever dream of.
I don't like Vince very much, he's a fuckin prick who treats his employees like shit, but I have to say he is an extremely intelligent man and knows what he is talking about. He totally outplayed Costas this entire interview.
"he's a fuckin prick who treats his employees like shit" You do realize he plays a character on TV right? He does not actually treat his employees like shit, why the fuck would they work for him if he did
Joe Rawn Amen
Joe Rawn Its well documented Vince has screwed several people during his career. He's fired people for missing dates due to family emergencies, injuries, etc, etc. But that's business.
CarloMagnoTV Vince hasn't just stopped people from making money, and ended careers through his politicking and backstage backstabbing, he's also destroyed entire wrestling federations, thus harming the economy and causing a decline in the jobs market, like when he destroyed the AWA and Jim Crocket Promotions.
everything about this interview was so uncomfortable and awkward... best interview I have ever seen.
I like how Bob Costas quotes the Owen Hart tragedy as he died by maneuver so if you didn't know what happened you would assume a wrestling maneuver not the fact that he fell from the fucking roof before the match
Dr VR Wrong. Vince wanted him to use a dangerous, unvetted quick release system because it 'took too long' to get out of the safety harness that the company's top rigger put him in before. That rigger was not there that night and would not have allowed Owen to use the dangerous improvised quick release system--he had refused previously. Owen wasn't comfortable with the new system. 99% of the blame is on Vince, and the rest on Owen for not disappointing Vince by rejecting the aerial gimmick.
@Guyinthecommentsection i saw a segment with Hart's widow showing the clip that held him. It was shocking how small it was to hold a guy 240 lbs. I have been ziplining and the apparatus protecting you from a lesser height was much more secure
0:35 "doo doo that!!!" Freudian slip or what! 😂 💩
Vince was obviously being sarcastic at the end.
George Washington uhhh yeah doiiii
Well done
Gee... what gave it away?
Costas: Bob Knight is waiting.
McMahon: Coach Knight.
who's the one with class again?
Love how he corrected Costas by calling Bobby Knight, "Coach Knight."
vince was triggered
This was also right after Coach Knight left Indiana.
The Bob Costas view on WWF/WWE in 2001 is what it is now, & it fucking sucks.
+CB 100%
lol i was thinking the same
This is the real Vince McMahon
You know Vince squeezed the fuck out of his hand
I really wanted Vince to layeth the smacketh down on that little jabroni bob.
Vince probably would've torn a quad if he got up too quickly from his chair with the intent of committing an act of violence.
@@STEJTHEGREATEST *Kevin Nash
When McMahon was shaking Costas hand at the end, I hope he was trying to break it.
Any effort whatsoever would have accomplished that.
you sound insane
@@ashevillecomics637 no, he sounds like a wrestling fan. analogous mentality.
I like how Vince corrects him "Coach Knight"
Bob Knight
@@dp26385 coach
Yeah, like McMahon gives two shits about Bob Knight.
@@Dana-wq5tp he does. They're good friends.
@@fanofthebusiness2666 Either way, if I was Costas, I wouldn't have corrected myself. I would have reiterated "Bob Knight." Who is he, someone special, other than being a bully/asshole. Fuck Knight and McMahon.
This guy looks like mark hamil
Now that was an interview. Both guys holding their ground. Intense at times, but ultimately respectful. Not a Vince McMahon fan, but he was surprisingly humble and forthright in this interview.
it wasn't respectful at all. vine made a buffoon of himself
no he wasn't
you are a good person@@TheAbnormal
Vince McMahon was a damn force of nature back then. He didn’t take no BS😂
Man was on his A game
0:35 doo doo. How did we miss it?
Vince pretty defensive... almost like he's got something to hide?🤔
I mean interrupting somebody very constantly is pretty rude though
lol Vince's correction of "Coach Knight" instead of Bob Knight
Definetely handled himself well this whole interview. Really sat and watched each part lmao
Who did?
You everywhere bruh😂
@@jeromeinthehousesowatchyam4237 Fr I was gonna say that too. He must be One interesting ass dude lol
and now.... kiss!
Lol
I love how Vince says "We have to end? I'm having fun!" and then corrects Bob "COACH Knight!"
Funny thing is he degraded Trish, but she ended up getting her revenge by not "drugging" Linda and her kicking Vince in the nuts.
What I love about this interview is when they're talking about XFL you've got Vince, when they're talking Wrestling you've got Mr McMahon!
Love how you can overhear Vince laughing to himself as the video fades out
Costas got owned in this interview.
Oh boy……knowing what vince has been up to, apparently…..
It's clear that little twerp Costas was being negative towards Vince the entire time.
Even at the end when he starts to talk about Owen, he says: "He was killed".
Making it sound like Vince killed him. LOL
Bob's got balls, but he essentially is why we're screwed tightly into the PG era
We can blame Benoit for that.
Nah Chris Benoit is the sole reason why wrestling is where it's at.
@@jordandennis6794 YES/NO Benoit kind of did cause it, but i'd also say how soft the generation is. Everything is "family friendly" nowadays, and I bet Vince saw that money opportunity and changed up
Costas was short in stature but was a serious investigative journalist who wasn't afraid of conflict.
I wouldve loved to have been a fly on that wall post interview
Bob Knight is waiting after Vince McMahon. Whoa
This was definitely one of the most interesting/intriguing interviews that I've seen in a long, long time!
anyone else hear the cameraman or someone in the camera crew starting to laugh at the end just as they shook hands??
It was Vince.
It's hard to tell whether Bob actually believes what he is saying or if he's just playing devils advocate. Either way Vince has the right to program anything he wants as long as it has an audience. It's the same low brow tactics that the major networks put on most of their reality programming. It's no less mindless to me than the bachelor.
I'm no fan of McMahon, but Costas and the producers really tried to smear him. And I think Vince was right. The ratings during the "attitude era" proved that there was a market for that. I also think McMahon was in the right about the media. No one will argue that the XFL wasn't a pile of shit, but the media focused on McMahon rather than the product. And I can't believe that Costas would infer that Vince would script or fix the games...
It’s what they do
Maybe time people move on from the Attitude Era.
It was 26 frigging years ago. Wrestling has moved on. Society has moved on.
Adapt or die.
2:21 listen to McMahons laughter, it's great. xD
Bob Costas plz do another interview with Vince now I need round 2
Love the part where McMahon tells Costas "that's Coach Knight!" 😆😆😆
that part always cracks me up because I can't tell if Vince is just trying to be petty and find an opportunity to get a leg up on Costas, or if it's because Vince is all about respecting people who've earned their spot
it's probably a bit of both honestly lol
It seems like Vince was trying his best to be professional in this interview. Bob Costas, not so much.
VINCE IS THE FUCKING MAN.. HE KEPT IT COOL THE WHOLE TIME BUT YET VERY AGGRESSIVE
Where can I watch this full interview??
Vince and Bob Knight? WOW, ratings went up that night
Vince nailed it. Good interview on his part.
Aye CZcams blocked parts 1&2 I remember watching the full interview a few years back and now that I want to watch it again its blocked wtf dou you have the original full interview footage still and if so can you email the full interview I want it to watch can't find it anywhere
Love the way Vince Corrects Costa s and says "Coach Knight."
Where is part 1 and 2?
I can see why Goldie Goldthorpe wanted to beat Bob Costas up.
I wish these 2 would just love each other and be friends.
Where'd parts 1 & 2 go?
Vince is actually a very cool (but strange) dude. He’s still insane and really believes he’s invincible but he sheds enough humanity to connect with at times
He has billions in the bank , to a degree he is invincible lol
This was a half hour interview. This clown kept it on the topic of the XFL for what, 5 to maybe 10 minutes? He then proceeded to find anything he could to try and diminish McMahons achievements and character, all the while asking dumb fucking questions like, "would you fix games to help ratings?"
Costas regressed into a parody of himself.
It's sad because people ripped Vince for being a bully with a chip on his shoulder, when a subjective look at Costas would show that he spent the entire interview interrupting McMahon's rebuttals and generally baiting him into the response he desired at the end.
Great that Costas asked the tough questions, and stayed cool. Great that Vince made strong points...great interview.
Vince is a shady guy.
You Think...
I wish that Vince McMahon was my father or in- law
Bob actually had some decent questions, but the problem was that most were unrelated to XFL (which I assume is what Vince thought would make up the discussion) and the answers are much more complex than the few seconds he gave Vince to respond. It's a shame because the resulting show was more focused on interruptions, snark, and half-finished thoughts.
Costas should interview him NOW lol
Vince gave bob knight more respect by addressing him as coach
Bob did not
Not a Vince fan, but he's far more successful today that lil Bobby.
@Edgehead10075 What? Bob is fucking terrible.
"Bob knight is waiting."
"Its coach knight" bitch - Vince
I just wanna say 2 things.. here from WhatCulture? And how hard do you think Vince squeezed Bobs hand at the ending hand shake
Where is parts 1 & 2???
this year they did the owen hart entrance with Vince being the head of creative
you shouldn't antagonize your guest, Bob.
+Nathan “Reetin” Spruth yes he's physically a capable man.
I've always loved Vince these eyes don't lie I know a tough sob when I see one. He handles himself & his business very well!
i've never been a fan of Vince McMahon, infact i don't like him at all. but i was rooting for him in this interview. Bob Costas was asking loaded questions, he clearly had an agenda to make McMahon look bad and he was being self-righteous and judgmental on top of that. very unprofessional..
This is a real argument folks, these two respect the hell out of eachother.
Vince is smarter than Bob.
Costas had no idea how Owen even died in that clip, my god. Vince should have destroyed him on that question, suggesting that Owen died because of a "maneuver" in a match.
0:36 Freudian slip 😂😂😂 #doodoo
How hard do you think Vinces handshake was at the end?
I didn't like McMahon at first. But I gained his respect when talking about Andre the Giant, who had passed away, McMahon said Andre was"Special", and had tears in his eyes.
I guarentee that was one firm handshake at the end.
I'd love to have seen Ali G interview Vince.
Bob Costas earned his$$$$ that night with Vince McMahon and Bob Knight. Bob Knight, my favorite coach of all time!
I think this was a great exchange and both did great in attacking and defending. Funny thing is though that Costas didn't interrupt Vince even once
Ridiculous how Costas waited to the interview had a MINUTE left to mention Owen Hart and was going to cut Vince off and make him look horrible without letting him explain. Just absolutely ridiculous and unfair. Owen died of an accident. Nobody is to blame. How dare anyone insinuate otherwise.
This Bob guy may be part of the reason we have a PG era in wrestling. It's not all John cena's fault lol. Hopefully they bring back some old tricks and bring the ratings back up
The worst part of the interview is when it ends.
What an insightful observation summing up his interview skills.
That Owen Hart bit from Bob was so insulting and shows who's truly in the right and wrong of this interview.
Bryton Cherrier Yeah that was dirty. It's his job to ask hard questions but that was repulsive.
Vince sure knows how to entertain. What a riveting interview.
That Owen line told me right there Bob didn’t do his homework
a legend who likes to clip a few pieces of film together to make it support his view instead of looking at something as a whole.
Funny part is that Bob, to this day, pretends like he won this argument
Piers Morgan : Hold my 🍺
Well... perhaps a few red flags in this interview lol
I miss the WWE when is used to be like that. Now they hardly do anything. I still watch it but it used to be amazing.
Vince must have made bob costas head of the talent
Vince can think on his feet, I respect that
Really the guy had the nerve to ask Vince about owen hart death as if vince wasnt going though alot man these reporters make me sick
I bet Vince would slap some manners into Bob if they were anywhere else
