Looking After The Money

Here are two toys, both around 25 years old, that will help you look after your money. Well, the coins at least.
The first one is called the Robotic Banker, and is an early example of a robotic toy. Placing a coin in the slot closes a circuit, and starts the action. The robot arm swivels round, picks up the coin, moves to the left, and drops the coin in the slot. That's the robotic bit. But remember - the toy also had the word banker in the name. And this toy gives you financial advice as well! After the robot arm has dropped the coin in the slot, it presses a lever, which sets the possible answers spinning round and round, until it finds the right answer for your question. Tim asked the Robotic Banker if he should buy gold (although you cannot buy much gold with one penny of course) and the answer from the banker was... definitely!
The second toy is a coin sorter. Place a coin in the slot at the top, and as it cascades down, the ingenious set of wheels and levers tip it first one way and then another, until somehow the coin ends up in the right slot at the bottom. The fact that the mechanism is on display is a major part of this toy's charm. - Věda a technologie
when this video came out gold was at $1500 - its now at $1050 ... I hope no-one took the robots advice :)
+wacka take home message: Do not trust a radio shack robotic banker for your investment advice
+hahawiewitzig ahhahahahahahaha :D
+mipmipmipmipmip What if it tells you the opposite of what you should do?
+Zambie but how would you know
+mipmipmipmipmip By testing it in contained enviroments multiple times until you got the same result.
That coin sorter is actually the coolest thing i've seen on here
I used to have one of them. Would love to find another one.
@@landonbrown5295 they could have them online
@@cordwoodenties5505 there is actually a similar thing going on in vending machines

the batteries needed to power the arm would probably cost more then all the pennies saved in that bank.

The machine is designed for dumb people. People who are unable to sort out something as simple as coins are probably also unable to consider things such as cost, profit, or value.
@@j_sr3608 or because its a cute toy x.x rofl. I doubt anyone actually uses this machine to 'bank'
the way he says "absolutely brilliant!" and pats the bank affectionately warms my heart
I'm very surprised you noticed that. Glad you did. And glad you pointed that out. I replayed the video and he indeed does. It's quite charming to a very awesome degree.

I want it too. Any luck finding it?
@@KableDev he probably did he's just to busy looking at the money organizing itself
I actually had one of those, found it at a yard sale (for American money though, not sure how different the weights are.) It was cool but got jammed a lot.
I have one! It’s quite entertaining
This channel is the embodiment of things no one needs but every one wants
This is basically how most banks work.

Why not?
This was a major innovation over the older "throw a dart at a pin board" method.
oh and why not start our *QE* till our interest come back in *default*.hmmm Why not?

joeytje50 Yeah it's posh but not extremely posh. Just well spoken.
I love how this comment got about 40 +1s, but after one guy said he disagreed there are suddenly 2 other guys who take the time to agree, while before that nobody ever said anything.
My brother used to have a bank like that!!! I never understood it as a kid!!! Holy crap the nostalgia hit like a freight train!
I had both as a kid, loved the second one, I would constantly empty it to fill it back.
I used to have a Cocoa Puffs bank that played "Hurray for the Red White and Blue" when you put a coin in. Ordered from the back of the box I think. This video just reminded me of it.
imagine thats how sentences were given out.
Judge : "should i give this man life in prison?"

That judge has issues if they are considering giving you life prison for not paying a parking ticket...lol!
@@Alienrun yeah, no shit.

Coin machine: Definitely
The coin sorter is so simple, yet so intricate at the same time. Genius!
I owned that exact same coin sorter when I was a kid in the 1980s. Amazing it is still around. You are supposed to put paper rolls in the bottom to make it easier still.
I am so glad i came across this channel. I love things like this.
*puts a US coin in the coin sorter and breaks it.

I had that coin sorter bank as a kid and I had forgotten about it completely until I saw this. it was so fun I was so intrigued by it. and the sound of the coins being sorted is still in my memory
1:20 I never thought I'd see a cool thing on this channel that I've actually owned before. Pretty neat, I'm getting some nostalgia.
Hey where did you get one of those coin sorters? I really want one

The coin sorter is magnific, very ingenious.
There is another one even without any mechanism. Very good too.
I used to have the snatching skeleton hand one, where a hand comes out of a grave and snatches the coin. Loved that thing!
I actually used to have the 2nd one! It was great for sorting and rolling them to bring to the bank!
What's it called I'd like to find one
actually? Not virtually or theoretically? You sure?
Gold buying advice too - I can use it to replace Max Keiser

I had that last coin sorter as a kid 30 years ago. Loved it.
I love how the first one literally farts out the answer.
Omg lol

He mentioned that the company of the second coin sorter still makes them, does anyone know where I could purchase one for myself, it’s amazing and very useful for someone with lots of loose change like myself.

@@mildzz3579 yeah, but knowing the name of the product would help a lot, someone might be selling it on Ebay. Who knows
That Radio Shack Robotic Banker awakened some sort of ancient memory of mine. I’m pretty sure one of my friends had one when I was very young and I was fascinated by it.
I want that 2nd one. It feeds my fascination for contraptions like marble runs
We're can I buy the second coin bank?
coin bank from the nile
My friend had a Robi coin bank from Radio Shack when we were kids, and i was so jealous of it.
I had that coin sorter (US Version) when I was a kid in the 80's. The space in the middle was for paper money. I used it to collect random coins, but I'd also just open it and put the money in by hand to use it as a quick counter when I was rolling a lot of coins to take in.
Him: Should I buy a gold?
Robot claw: Definitely
Him: Give me back my penny then
Robot Claw: No
i wonder if thats how soda machines sort change
Actually no, the owner of the machine fills up the machine with change every so often
Would be cool though
eddi790 but then how does the machine know which coin you put in for your dollar soda? is it 4 quarters or is it 4 pennies? surely its with the size and shape ! especially older machines... surely used some mechanism like this
OhNoNotMyPenis magnetic properties ! ah !!! so clever
that explains why my plaster coins only work in older ones
My brother had both of those as a kid as well as a more complex spiral coin sorter :D I was always playing with them, where for him it was just a place to dump his pocket money lol
I had a variation of both of these toys... I had a sphinx bank that, when you put a coin in the slot, it would flip it into the sphinx's open mouth and it would move the head up and down as if it were chewing.
Then there was this insane bank with several parts, gears, ramps, etc... All of the pieces got scattered over the years and it took up a lot of room just to sort the coins in the correct holes in the end. I like the one in the video a lot more.
Where do I buy the 2nd one
+Asriel Dreemurr I guess look in Amazon or eBay Toy Coin Sorter
Thx
+Asriel Dreemurr Your welcome :)
I wish paypal went faster.. I want my money
isn't the coin sorter redundant?
"Should I commit Genocide?"

Eren Yeager, is that you?
I have one of those black sorting coin banks! I got it from my now late grandpa! Unfortunately it was damaged on one of the wheels at some point so it doesn’t work all that great , but if you held the wheel it works normally again! It’s still sitting on my shelf.
I really like that you did two thing in one episode.
I was going to buy the second bank on Ebay, but realized that 1 of the slots wouldn't be used due to the penny being tuned out. :(
You can put american pennies in it.
Penny isn't being produced anymore in Canada.
Alexander Prates Really? Wow. I think a while ago, here in the US, we were talking about ridding of pennies, but never did. Canada's awesome.
Mrs. Yellow_Ledbetter I think they're still trying to get rid of the penny, as well as the nickle. As of right now, the value of both is so low, it actually costs more to make them than they're actually worth, and last year, alone, making pennies and nickles put our government more in debt by around 200k. Crazy!
Where could I buy the second one
You can't really buy that one any more I doubt. But there are ones similar to it. I.e sorts via mechanical machine. I gotten mine at the dollar door. You can get all sorts of neat stuff from there. They sometimes sell stuff over a dollar. Walmart pretty good for stuff like this, probably not as good quality of the stuff he has.
I was waiting for to see what kind of coin banks would the doll and the plant pot be 😆 I also love how he pets his toys - shows how he's truly attached to them 😁
I had the same style coin sorter when I was child about 40 years ago.
Radio Shack-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack

It's a complex conspiracy for him to resurface products after waiting for the copyright to run out, and claiming them as his own; that twisted witch of a man
@@subculturedotcom5429 Lmao 🤣
I don't think I've ever seen him cleaning ownership of any design on any video
Srsly tho, I think he just buys s crap ton on then at once half of his stock is from long ago anyway.
I love how he pets the coin sorter like a little pet!!
I played with the second coin sorter so much as a kid.
I wonder why this shit show up as commercials all the time? It's not even BARELY interesting...
someone's a salty sally
I have the second one, I got it from my Grandpa like 20+ years ago when I was a kid. I still have it and put my change in it everyday when I get home from work
I'm in love with the mechanical coin sorter
The guy who invented that coin sorter had a four-digit IQ!
I had one of those as a kid! Wish i still had it...
The coin sorter at the end was fascinating
I had a robot banker! Completely forgot until this vid, now I'm having flashbacks so waiting for the coin to get picked up!
I used to have that second coin sorter! It was awesome, but it would get confused if you threw in a bunch of coins quickly.
I had one of those coin sorters as a kid. The middle was for holding bills.
i had that coin sorter when i was 9 its was fun to put coins through. nice to see it again
I have a coin sorter that’s shaped like a piano. There’s a slot in the top, and the coin slides its way down some ramps until it reaches the right holder.
My grandpa and grandma had one of those 2nd ones. Every time I visited, I would ask to play with it. So my grandpa would give me whatever change he had in his pocket and hand me the coin bank. I would just let the coins sort into the bank for awhile. Of course opening it up and taking out all the coins to sort them all over again.
Wow that coin sorter is fantastic
I had that second one when I was a kid! It was slightly different on the inside though to accommodate American coins. After I put all my coins in I would take them all out just so I could watch them go through again
I actually had the last one - the coin sorter bank - when I was a kid in the late '70s. There must have been different versions as it worked with US coins. I'd totally forgotten about it, but it was pretty cool
i like the way this guy talks, because of that i'm subcribing
Wonderful inventions. Inventors don't do clever things like these anymore.
I would LOVE to see that coin sorter in slow motion so I could figure out each individual part!
I had that robot bank. It was such fun!
The coin sorter is actually a great representation of what's happening inside a vending machine, or pretty much anything that's coin operated. Using systems similar to this they find out what coin was inserted, and also reject bad coins - they may be too big, too small, too light or too heavy.
That second coin sorter was sweet, I have one, but not one as cool as that!
That sorter is amazing.
I had one of these growing up!
Why can't I understand half of what he says? Even though I am not a native speaker, I can pretty much understand a lot of English, but this man seems to be speaking a whole new language for me.
I would love to own a coin-sorter. Would make keeping track of change so much easier
I had that robot arm one but after a few uses I gave up on it because it was so slow. The one on the right looks more fun.
I have one of those sorting banks! The configuration is slightly different; my mom bought it back in the early 80's.
What a lovely idea
That coin sorter would have a fun time distinguishing between the copper pennies and the zinc ones.
That second one is absolute genius!
I had one of those coin sorter banks when I was a kid
That sorter is super cool
I had one of the radio shack robot banks. They were fun
Brilliant coin sorter
I am now compelled to recreate that last bank
I would love to see Tim demonstrating more coin banks..
