    • @DCDLaserCNC
      @DCDLaserCNC  Před 7 lety +3

      Zane Wv I am considering it. Not sure if people would pay what I would have in it for materials and time. How much do you think I could sell them for?

    • @Zanewv
      @Zanewv Před 7 lety +3

      Mike DeRegnaucourt I'd pay 120 for it if you could just get everything cut out and sell it as a diy project. I'll put it together myself while watching the video. would 120 cover cost of wood, leds and dial?

    • @DCDLaserCNC
      @DCDLaserCNC  Před 7 lety +3

      Zane Wv I would have to go back and add up the materials. Just off the top of my head I would think that would cover it. The clock definitely gets a lot of compliments at work. lol. It is funny because it confuses people but I am now so used to reading the time off of it even though it is backwards. lol

      I do like your idea of a kit form for those individuals that like putting stuff together. Assembly is not difficult. The difficulty is in making the parts. With a DIY kit, that would give folks the option of finishing the frame in their choice of finish. Could be stained or painted.

      There are some fairly inexpensive import lasers now available. A laser makes a great addition to the shop.

    Clock looks great. What were the setting you used on the laser to get the frost look on the numbers?

    • @DCDLaserCNC
      @DCDLaserCNC  Před 7 lety +2

      I have an Epilog Legend 36EXT 60-watt laser. I reverse engraved the backside of the acrylic using a setting of 100% speed and 30% power at 600dpi. Keep in mind that in order to get a decent "frosting" on acrylic it should be cast acrylic as opposed to extruded. I hope that helps.

    • @thalesmiqueias4839
      @thalesmiqueias4839 Před 7 lety +2

      Hey Mike what an amazing work, I am really impressed!!! You should consider Craig's idea for real and try to sell it.
      You could try to make a kind of deal with an enterprise wich could produce the wood's pieces. Perhaps look for the cheapest kind of wood wich satisfacts the quality.
      Try to automatize the production and hire and teach someone to make these clocks while you work in finances, marketing and new solutions and products.
      I was wondering how much would that Epilog costs here in Brazil... I had nice ideas for it while watching your video.
      Thank you for sharing your work Mike ;)

    • @DCDLaserCNC
      @DCDLaserCNC  Před 7 lety +2

      Thales Miqueias Thank you Thales! I have actually considered selling them. I am working on plans to make some of the parts on a CNC router. As for the cost of an Epilog laser in Brazil I am not really sure. High qulaity laser engravers can get pricey unless you can find a good used one or go with one of the lower cost Chinese made machines.

    • @thalesmiqueias4839
      @thalesmiqueias4839 Před 7 lety +1

      Hello Mike. You're welcome :D
      That's really cool, I'm glad that you are making these plans. Btw would you have any idea of how much I would pay for this epilog is US?
      Also I though about doing some of the parts in a CNC machine, specially the drawings that you do in the epilog, I think that virtually any piece of metal would be able to draw in the acrylic.

    • @DCDLaserCNC
      @DCDLaserCNC  Před 7 lety +1

      I did a quick search of eBay and it appears there is a used 45-Watt Epilog Helix laser for sale. The eBay listing has it at $7,500 US. That laser is the next size down from the one I have and 15-watts less. If interested in a new one, I would suggest contacting www.epiloglaser.com

      Senthil Vani The clock was intentionally designed to run backwards as a conversational piece as well as just to mess with a person's mind when they first look at the clock. It definitely peaks people's interest.
