it seems that VAR makes football vulnerable to corruption. All this talk about tackling player behaviour but nothing on tackling stupid VAR decisions. No accountability and it may well cost Newcastle progression in this tournament.
Absolutely ridiculous statement. Corrupt officials make it open to corruption. Many more incorrect decisions were made before VAR, including incorrect offsides.
The referee decided it was a penalty not the VAR. the VAR just got the referee to have a look at the footage that the whole world saw. It was the referee’s call.
@@mchazeloverBut why did VAR ask the ref to look at it? Come on now. They can tell him easily that's not a penalty.
Sky is quick to attack UEFA var, but where was this with pgmol blunders.
Cant attack the PGMOL mate. They're English😄
They are hypocritical clowns just like PGMOL
They literally talk about how incompetent it is all the time mate 🥱 boring comment
@@jm11111 yeah they do, but it’s geared towards making pgmol look good. Scripted breakdowns of incidents between Owen and Webb is way different to what they’re doing now with uefa var blunders
Fair point but do you think the PGMOL errors were as bad as this one? Sure you can mention the Diaz offside but at least that one stayed with the onfield decision (the linesman raised his flag)
Funny how EPL refs are saying that shouldn't have been a penalty when they themselves are doing an absolute horrendous job this season
Perhaps you should have a go at being a referee and see if you do a brilliant job?

EPL follows different rules, so yeah, it might not've been ruled a handball in EPL. But then again, a bunch of people will also debate what counts as a deflection. And the deflection is the ONLY thing that's debatable here. If Dembele had put the ball 20cms to his right and hit the arm directly, it would've been handball in EPL as well, as seen every weekend.
This specific case needs to be addressed by uefa. A real disgrace. It only makes it worse that VAR initiated the call. What good is VAR if the officials using it don’t understand their own rules 🤷♂️

Considering Newcastle time wasted from the moment they scored in the first half …. Hell pope took two minutes for each goal kick
The PSG players must also be held accountable for harrassing the ref and surrounding him like a pack of wolves. Then the ruling body MUST address the poor call by the ref and VAR team.

@@mjimlee and why is that?
UEFA has stood down the VAR who made the decision to guide the referee to give PSG their penalty last night.
Tomasz Kwiatkowskiwas supposed to be VAR for the Real Sociedad v RB Salzburg Champions League game this evening.
However he has now been replaced.
Although UEFA are yet to make a public statement over the decision to award PSG a penalty deep into stoppage time against Newcastle last night, it is the clearest indication yet the think the ruling was incorrect.
They disallowed Liverpool's goals against Toulouse when the ball deflected off MacAllister chest onto this hand. It didn't matter there was another 3 passes before the goal, it was handball.
Every fan that wasn't a Liverpool supporter agreed with the decision and said the refs got it right. Klopp came out saying it was the wrong decision and every fan said "stop moaning", "read the rules", "klopp crying again" etc.
Strange how opinion changes depending on what shirt the player is wearing and who the manager is.
Probably stood down because of the two PSG penalties he wrongly didn't give during the second half in reality.
I don't hear Howe acknowledging Newcastle's extremely good fortune over those decisions.
@@twiggy99 I haven’t seen that but it sounds like he used it to control and gain a competitive advantage. Send me a link and I’ll have a look. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
@@michaelgoode9555 because there was no clear and obvious error on the other penalty decision. it's not
VAR = The perfect way to fix a result. Week after week after week this crap happens. I ain't a Newcastle fan but its clear an obvious that wasn't a pen. VAR is ruining football.
Have you started watching football few years ago ? I remember when we didnt have VAR, every single week there were so many errors from refs, offsides that are not, clear fouls turned into goals, divings turned into penalties, every single week without exception, it was so often that some just accepted that form of cheating... this just proves a football fans memory is that of a gold fish.
But the ref makes the final decision. He does not have to accept the decision by var.
Totally and obviously fixed. 8 mins added time?? Pen at 96 min?
Even if we go out the agg score was 5. 2. and we could concentrate more on league position and strengthen for next year. HWTL
@@Ludydobryrespect bro 👏
Same happened aganist Mac Allister in Toulouse game leading to a late cancellation to Quansah's goal. Something should be done.
Good point
This is what happens when the refs/VAR grew up playing more foosball (table football) than actual football. They don't know what natural arm position is.
Absolute heartbreak

I think you meant to say joyful
Absolute banter club 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Been watching games from the 1960s, no VAR, no one offside by a toe or the tip of their shoulder, no waste of time and still getting wrong, no tippy tippy football passing backwards and forwards in your own half. Totally better game back then.
Yeah also good hard tackles, players got up fast to show no weakness… it’s the other way round now 😩

Afticans>gingers
Hahah deal with it😂😂🤣
Lmao 😂
What bothers me the most is that the referee originally called it not a handball. The disgusting PSG players surround him, VAR tells him to go to the monitor and he changes his mind. I thought the ref actually had a very good game until that point. UEFA have come out and said it was a mistake and that referee has been suspended from VAR duty for a match today.
Little bit late now...suspending the ref....what a joke. Game is done....result stands.
Stop laughing Arsenal fans 😂😂
peedos
It's a bit harsh to effectively give a goal in these circumstances. But in trying to define what is or is not a handball and so a penalty we are trying to make a one size fits all rule. Just as a suggestion how about for accidental hand ball, indirect freekick, for deliberate handball direct frre kick or penalty. Th punishment would maybe then better fit the crime.
The Ref didn’t give the pen on field. He was pressured by VAR & UEFA. The Ref should have stuck to his original *correct* decision. The VAR official has now been removed from further CL duties!
The FA or England should not be talking about any referee decisions until they clean up their own house.

Eddie Howe, I would understand and sympathise with you had you said the same when your team was favored against Arsenal. But it seems when VAR favors you just stay quiet and when it's against you then you mourn.
They were losing to Wolves until they got an incorrect penalty also, it's definitely karma
Life comes at you fast
Epl officiating is so terrible and unfair to other teams and now the same officials busy saying it was unfair judgement by uefa officials
It was unintentional and unavoidable. The punishment doesn't match the crime. I could accept the penalty if he deliberately prevented a chance to score, but this is just ridiculous. I think they should make it more simple. Hand to ball ...penalty. ball to hand... tough luck. It really should be as simple as that. Either it was intentional, or it wasn't.
Yet Joelington can clothesline Reece Janes, and Guimaraes can punch Jorginho. Sit down and be quiet or talk all mistakes.

The footballing Authorities have long seemed to have difficulty in identifying the body part that is the "hand". I've always believed it was the part of the arm below the wrist. Getting them to understand if something is "deliberate" is clearly more challenging still ...... What are the PSG side saying about this ? What - in a parallel universe - would the Newcastle side have said if the decision benefitted them ?
We just got started cheers from SAUDI
VAR or no VAR, from what I can gather, the way the majority of referees in World Football are now applying the hand-ball rule, (notwithstanding how the rule is officially worded in England vs. the rest of Europe), is that if a ball hits the arm of a defending player anywhere in the 18 yard box, (whether intentionally or not), it's more or less a penalty kick. All the talk of 'silhouettes', 'natural and unnatural positions', 'body shapes', etc., is basically peripheral. Nine times out of ten, (or more), if a ball hits an arm of a defender in the box, the ref will call a PK. I'm not saying I agree with this, but this is what's actually happening on the ground.
In the box hand. Ball is hand ball....Newcastle was also get awarded vice versa

YnwA.
PSG aren't going to draw at Dortmund it's fixed for them to go through
They found an opportunity to give a free kick to PSG bc really they don't want Newcastle to win
the key point Sky panel fails to make is a simple one, and he refuses to even acknowledge it. The second the ball is kicked Newcastle player arm moves away from his body by 1 foot , the Newcastle player arm is by his side until the ball is Kicked and then he moves it, so despite it coming off his chest or anywhere, the Newcastle player 100% moved his arm out from his body the second the player went to kick the ball and kicked it... The same happened when Mac Allister of LFC in Toulouse , the ball hit his chest went to his upper arm, the goal scored in Toluese at the end of the match was wiped out by VAR and the ref for handball
No one in the world of football ...except the referee thought that was a penalty.
Never a pen, but so many saying this on media etc, but the same people didn't say anything about Newcastle goal against Arsenal in Premier league, which was just as bad imo, hypocrites, oh well, what goes around.....

I don't think PSG is beating Dortmund anyway, so Newcastle might still go through.
exact thing that would happen if they remove VAR is that the fans unhappiness will be fully targeted on the ref, just how it was before
