Somebody at Netherealm studio's favorite character must be D'vorah, It's no wonder she never really gets killed off in MK11, Aftermath, Or even in Mileena's ending, She's been granted super-plot armor and keeps getting away with shit.

I forgot to mention D’Vorah plot armor is is off the charts. Characters just don’t finish her when there is literally NO REASON to keep her alive. And it’s always characters that has no reason not to squish her like the bug she is. Why doesn’t Shao Kahn stomp her? Because Kronika says no? HE IS SHAO KAHN! Why doesn’t Jade and Kotal end her? Kotal was willing to wipe all the Tarkatans but not D’Vorah who made him look like a fool.
Kotal was poisoned and needed help, so Jade put his health first, while D'Vorah escaped, literally her only justifiable escape, compared to everyone else.

Well to be fair MK 11 was all about time travel crap and characters just abruptly having their stories ended, instead of having satisfying conclusions. I mean her killing Baraka and Mileena make sense, because both are low tier characters, plus Mileena was always weaker than Kitana, so it's not surprising she beat them. However, Scorpion clearly was a forced kill and D'vorah was way too underhanded in MK 11, like they stripped her of actual fighting prowess.
She’s off’d so many fan favourites that I expect she’ll be the main villain in the new timeline or that she’ll keep killing the best characters without any repercussions.

@Chad Warden counter point: She NEVER fell into the mid card. She never gained MORE relevance in her world either. her feats mean she should be taking power, not hiding. It's like taking one of your top guys and giving him only wins, but he never challenges for the title.

How did D'vorah get put over more than the guy whose supposed to take over Shao Kahn's role. I think people got more upset that there was no justification for why she able to take down these characters.
Kotal actually makes sense though, he just finished 4 seperate fights with high ranking fighters, then was ambushed twice and got sent falling down at least a few stories high hole into D'vorah's nest. Kotal still put up a good fight, but clearly was weak from the multiple things he just endured and then gets poisoned with a cheap shot. It was actually one of the only D'Vorah wins that made sense and didn't actually feel unfair. It's why not many people were pissed about it, at least I'm not being a Kotal, D'Vorah and Jade fan.
Hopefully he does become a main star one day, we finally got to play as villains in a story mode for once regarding MK so maybe there’s hope for rain and other characters that deserve redemption as well.
D vorah's requirments: Kills fan favorites Looks powerful for no reason Takes a kill that didn't belong to her(Hanzo) that kill was meant for bi-han he had the most beef with Hanzo and also defeated gods D vorah defeated 0 Gods none nada(except for Rain but he is a talent enhancing god they don't respect Rain) but she kills scorpion while she had no beef or rivalry with him like Bi-han.
One of the reasons D'Vorah is hated BECAUSE she gets away with her actions, she NEVER gets punished, any time it looks like she might get what she deserves, she gets off scot free, she's like Peter Griffin from Modern Family Guy but worse.
See, that's another thing. I'm fine with favorite characters being killed as long as it's done the right way. D'Vorah never gets any sort of consequence and that's just lazy writing there.
Considering she ambushed him in her own nesting ground, it's not as bad as you think it is. It's like saying a Predator being ambushed in a Xenomorph nest is saying the Predator incompetent.
Plus Kotal had just fought 4 fights with high level fighters like Shao Kahn, Baraka, Skarlett and Erron Black, then got ambushed by giant bugs, before being dragged into D'vorah's nest. Pretty sure that shows how strong he is, but also how D'Vorah preyed after easy targets in MK 11, rather than fighters at full strength.

I mean put yourself as Kotal Kahn, could you still fight after 4 seperate fights with powerful fighters, then 2 different ambushes and falling from a least a few stories from how long the tunnel into the nest was? I doubt you could and the fact he was still able to put up a decent fight against the bug queen, really shows how strong he truly was in order to withstand all that. It was one of the few gems in the pile of crap that MK 11 really was, with another gem being his genuine relationship with Jade.

Story-wise, Kotal is just as responsible as D'Vorah for Baraka and Mileena's deaths since he gave the orders. In MK11, Hanzo's death is the only one D'Vorah herself is responsible for.

I think a better way to handle baraka’s and Mileena’s death is of Kotal Kahn beats baraka first and offers him refuge to stop the rebellion as the guy doesn’t want peace and might cause more problems in the future. But baraka gives no choice as he doesn’t care which forces Kotal to raise his hand to kill Baraka and all his tarkatans as they are so bloodthirsty to destroy outworld. The same goes with mileena. Have Kotal show some kind of sympathy for her as she was created by Shao, a monster and he believes there is still good in her but she is willing to kill everyone and everything just for power and doesn’t care about how outworld’s state which gives Kotal Kahn a valid excuse to kill her and shows he is a honourable yet powerful Kahn as he shows mercy but to put outworld in danger will get up in shit. The deaths will be more excusable with this take and will decrease a lot of hate for Kotal Kahn. No inclusion of d’vorah and u get less contraversy over the situation.
I feel like d'vorah is supposed to be that one villain who is built up as a tough opponent to build up the protagonists who manage to defeat her which could've worked and kinda did but I wish they would've given her way more depth or even see more of the Hive if there are more would like to see those interactions

Honestly, she doesn't display much personality in the story in general, she is more a henchman, a servant for bigger villains, hence why she works for Quan Chi. In a better story she'd be a cool and competent henchman with a great gimmick to her (they did wodners with the inscet theme, as seen by her gameplay animations and moves). In this one, she hogs the spot light and does not too much with it tbh besides advance the plot for others.
I personally loved her in MK X, since she was a great underhanded manipulator, but MK 11 completely ruined her, considering all she does is get her butt kicked, then cheap shots Scorpion. I still hate that disgusting Kotal Kahn relationship retcon, since she's not even a biological female, she's a walking bugs nest!!

Its ridiculous how Cassie beat D'vorah in a fight and the far more experienced Hanzo Hasashi was killed by her. Its that old character lore abandonment that brings about a realm of broken power scaling.
Although D'Vorah did succeed in killing Hanzo, it was only because she stabbed him with his back turned. Additionally; before getting stabbed, Hanzo may have initially assumed that D'Vorah succumbed to her wounds after their fight - much like how 'Aftermath' has Sheeva declared dead on the spot moments after Sindel defeats her.

Though I personally think Kotal let Kung Jin win, because he knew the Kombat kids would help find the amulet and Mileena, hence why he waited until the amulet was in his possession to trap them. That's just my interpretation though.

A fun and powerful villain that actually gets shit done unlike characters such as Reptile. D’vorah was a breath of fresh air needed in terms of MK antagonists. Her design is awesome aswell and she’s fun to play. Sure she’s a bitch but man I hope she stays for many more games
I just hate how they thought bug lady was gonna be more popular than Mileena. Honestly the only good new gen characters are Takeda and maybe Kotal depending on how he's written.

She’s a Mary Sue and not even a well written character. Nothing she does feels earned. Offing Mileena was fine to me though. Even if D’Vorah was a well written character, which she is not, I still wouldn’t like her tbh because I hate bugs lol. The retcon inv her into the story as always being there I absolutely hate. That’s just insulting. And coming from a guy who hates Scorpion, D’Vorah did not desert one the one to put him down. It should have been Bi-Han. We were robbed! Why even have him in the game if you aren’t gonna do anything with his long rivalry with the og Sub-Zero? Bi-Han could have been like “you bested me and made me stronger. And I even took your place as Quan Chi’s #1”(which he did do in MK9). Taunted him about beating him the first time and about his clan. But nope.

@@chadpeterson5698 no, the audiences view of the character isn't what I'm primarily talking about. I'm referring to the number of people who dislike her in universe. No character in universe really likes d'vorah. The criteria for a Mary Sue is more extensive than just not failing in a way you prefer(with your loose definition, several characters could be labeled a Mary Sues in this franchise). A Mary Sue needs to achieve three of the following four criteria: is an expert at a multitude of tasks even when there is little explanation for it, has no flaws/ has there flaws not impact the story in a significant way, is liked by almost instantly by the majority of characters they interact with, and makes normally competent characters look incompetent. D'vorah could only really be accused of the first point. Her treacherous nature makes it so that her hive is constantly in danger which she doesn't want, is disliked by pretty much by every character, and only humiliates characters who have abysmal track records( her killing scorpion doesn't reflect his character negatively since he was distracted with his past self).
Dvorah should have been replaced by Nitara, but regardless there she is getting a huge push. Remember in the comics she was ripped apart by I think Reiko, but she regenerated. Fire is the only way to off her for good.
I’d give dvorah a 2/10 because initially I thought she was interesting until they started making her kill OGs to push her, retconning her into MK2 also I feel she essentially stole Tanya’s role as the treacherous villain the more you get into depth into the story with Dvorah the care less about “the hive” and her motives.

She merely just led Liu to a trap because she knew that she can't handle Liu herself and she got comeuppance for her treacherous way in Jade's MKD ending even though it's not canon unlike D'Vorah who killed the characters herself and she never got any comeuppance canonically or non canonically not to mention she doesn't deserve most of her kills

D'vorah had a puzzling debut, simply because there were much older female characters that they could have expanded upon: a vampire (Nitara), a commoner turned warrior (Li Mei), and a demon that uses white magic (Ashrah). I don't hate the Bug Woman, and making new characters you would be attached to isn't easy, but it seems like they didn't exactly know where to place her.
D'Vorah was a meh character for me, she gets a 6/10 for originality at least. But honestly they should've replaced her with Nitara an even better character who's actually been apart of Shao Kahn's entourage.

D'vorah is one of the most hated Mortal Kombat villains ever in history. That's all I have to say beside the fact that bugs creep me out and she creeps me out more than any bug on this planet! So overall I'm gonna give D'vorah the title of the 2nd worst Mortal Kombat character ever. And also I'm gonna give her a 2/10!
Me personally D'Vorah is the absolute worst Mortal Kombat character not even the 3D Era infamous characters like Jarek, Hsu Hao, Kobra, Meat, and Mokap are as annoying and hateble as her especially since 1. There are 2 reasons why I hate D’vorah: 1. She kills and defeats fan-favorites: I’m not a big fan of Scorpion, Melina or Baraka however I do like Rain and Kotal but I see how strong they are and in my opinion she doesn’t deserve this victories or kills. 2. She steals protagonist to the best characters: like Bi-Han, Reptile, Rain and many others, this characters deserve more chapters then a random nobody (D’vorah).
Honestly being retconned into the lore is why I don't like most of the NRS Era characters.. Kotal Kahn being a powerful general and Jade's love interest, D'Vorah doing literally anything, Erron Black being intertwined with characters dating back to the Tournament, Skarlet being one of Shao Kahn's assassin's in Mileena's place, the Collector being intertwined with characters and being involved in events predating the Tournament, and finally Geras, Centurion, and Kronika being literal gods in direct relation to Shinnok and never being acknowledged or mentioned until MK11. Like I get that we need new characters, but if D'vorah and the Collector were such capable subjects to Shinnok and Shao Kahn, why did they never acknowledge them for the duration of two entire timelines. Lol. I mean Shao Kahn acknowledged Baraka who has never won a fight in his life many times over the years, but never mentioned the Collector or Erron Black who was supposedly under his employment the entire time? Makes no sense.
10/10 D'Vorah is the greatest Kharacter introduced in MKX. Her race is interesting, her looks are great and she is EFFECTIVE, something extremely rare in MK antagonists. The reason she is disliked is that same effectiveness because Scorpion "fans" think that he should never lose and Mileena fans are... well, we all know how they are. I love D'Vorah, my favorite MK Kharacter. Her winning makes way more sense than any win the Kombat kids got. D'Vorah is old, she has centuries of experience, the Kombat Kids are teenagers that somehow defeated Kotal and even Shinnok. The one who was forced down our throats was Cassie, not D'Vorah
D'Vorah is the most successful villain in Netherealm games history. Outside of Shang Tsung in Aftermath if you choose for him to win. When a subordinate looks better than most of your main villains you're doing something wrong.

I forgot to mention D’Vorah plot armor is is off the charts. Characters just don’t finish her when there is literally NO REASON to keep her alive. And it’s always characters that has no reason not to squish her like the bug she is. Why doesn’t Shao Kahn stomp her? Because Kronika says no? HE IS SHAO KAHN! Why doesn’t Jade and Kotal end her? Kotal was willing to wipe all the Tarkatans but not D’Vorah who made him look like a fool.
Kotal was poisoned and needed help, so Jade put his health first, while D'Vorah escaped, literally her only justifiable escape, compared to everyone else.

Well to be fair MK 11 was all about time travel crap and characters just abruptly having their stories ended, instead of having satisfying conclusions. I mean her killing Baraka and Mileena make sense, because both are low tier characters, plus Mileena was always weaker than Kitana, so it's not surprising she beat them. However, Scorpion clearly was a forced kill and D'vorah was way too underhanded in MK 11, like they stripped her of actual fighting prowess.

How did D'vorah get put over more than the guy whose supposed to take over Shao Kahn's role. I think people got more upset that there was no justification for why she able to take down these characters.
Kotal actually makes sense though, he just finished 4 seperate fights with high ranking fighters, then was ambushed twice and got sent falling down at least a few stories high hole into D'vorah's nest. Kotal still put up a good fight, but clearly was weak from the multiple things he just endured and then gets poisoned with a cheap shot. It was actually one of the only D'Vorah wins that made sense and didn't actually feel unfair. It's why not many people were pissed about it, at least I'm not being a Kotal, D'Vorah and Jade fan.

D'Vorah defeating Kotal Kahn will always be funny it took Jade to come save his life and suppose to been a emperor lol.
Considering she ambushed him in her own nesting ground, it's not as bad as you think it is. It's like saying a Predator being ambushed in a Xenomorph nest is saying the Predator incompetent.
Plus Kotal had just fought 4 fights with high level fighters like Shao Kahn, Baraka, Skarlett and Erron Black, then got ambushed by giant bugs, before being dragged into D'vorah's nest. Pretty sure that shows how strong he is, but also how D'Vorah preyed after easy targets in MK 11, rather than fighters at full strength.
Kotal Kahn defeated Shao Kahn even but was almost killed by D'Vorah until Jade stepped in the power scaling is so bad in Mortal Kombat.

I mean put yourself as Kotal Kahn, could you still fight after 4 seperate fights with powerful fighters, then 2 different ambushes and falling from a least a few stories from how long the tunnel into the nest was? I doubt you could and the fact he was still able to put up a decent fight against the bug queen, really shows how strong he truly was in order to withstand all that. It was one of the few gems in the pile of crap that MK 11 really was, with another gem being his genuine relationship with Jade.
She was a new character who came out of nowhere and had more impact on the story than some of the Day 1 people.

The reason why people hate her is because NRS doesn't know how to make the other villains threats. It's just D'vorah doing everything somehow. Make some other people do some shit.

Story-wise, Kotal is just as responsible as D'Vorah for Baraka and Mileena's deaths since he gave the orders. In MK11, Hanzo's death is the only one D'Vorah herself is responsible for.

Although D'Vorah did succeed in killing Hanzo, it was only because she stabbed him with his back turned. Additionally; before getting stabbed, Hanzo may have initially assumed that D'Vorah succumbed to her wounds after their fight - much like how 'Aftermath' has Sheeva declared dead on the spot moments after Sindel defeats her.

A fun and powerful villain that actually gets shit done unlike characters such as Reptile. D’vorah was a breath of fresh air needed in terms of MK antagonists. Her design is awesome aswell and she’s fun to play. Sure she’s a bitch but man I hope she stays for many more games

She’s a Mary Sue and not even a well written character. Nothing she does feels earned. Offing Mileena was fine to me though. Even if D’Vorah was a well written character, which she is not, I still wouldn’t like her tbh because I hate bugs lol. The retcon inv her into the story as always being there I absolutely hate. That’s just insulting. And coming from a guy who hates Scorpion, D’Vorah did not desert one the one to put him down. It should have been Bi-Han. We were robbed! Why even have him in the game if you aren’t gonna do anything with his long rivalry with the og Sub-Zero? Bi-Han could have been like “you bested me and made me stronger. And I even took your place as Quan Chi’s #1”(which he did do in MK9). Taunted him about beating him the first time and about his clan. But nope.

No character in universe really likes d'vorah. The criteria for a Mary Sue is more extensive than just not failing in a way you prefer(with your loose definition, several characters could be labeled a Mary Sues in this franchise). A Mary Sue needs to achieve three of the following four criteria: is an expert at a multitude of tasks even when there is little explanation for it, has no flaws/ has there flaws not impact the story in a significant way, is liked by almost instantly by the majority of characters they interact with, and makes normally competent characters look incompetent. D'vorah could only really be accused of the first point. Her treacherous nature makes it so that her hive is constantly in danger which she doesn't want, is disliked by pretty much by every character, and only humiliates characters who have abysmal track records( her killing scorpion doesn't reflect his character negatively since he was distracted with his past self).
Dvorah should have been replaced by Nitara, but regardless there she is getting a huge push. Remember in the comics she was ripped apart by I think Reiko, but she regenerated. Fire is the only way to off her for good.

@@cameronjohnson9361 Tanya was handled better no question asked since she didn't receive plot armor and didn't get forced to the story. In her ending it was Shinnok who killed Liu not her. She merely just led Liu to a trap because she knew that she can't handle Liu herself and she got comeuppance for her treacherous way in Jade's MKD ending even though it's not canon unlike D'Vorah who killed the characters herself and she never got any comeuppance canonically or non canonically not to mention she doesn't deserve most of her kills

D'vorah had a puzzling debut, simply because there were much older female characters
that they could have expanded upon: a vampire (Nitara), a commoner turned warrior (Li Mei),
and a demon that uses white magic (Ashrah).
I don't hate the Bug Woman, and making new characters you would be attached to isn't easy, but it seems like they didn't exactly know where to place her.
Which is why she mostly just stands around with her thumb up her ass when she isn't easily making legacy characters her bitch
D'Vorah was a meh character for me, she gets a 6/10 for originality at least. But honestly they should've replaced her with Nitara an even better character who's actually been apart of Shao Kahn's entourage.

Also I would say dvorah stole Tanya’s role in MK cause she was the treacherous kharacter in the 3D era why not just stick with Tanya goes from Shao Kahn to Shinnok then finally Onaga. Dvorah is a rip off of Tanya goes from Shinnok to Shao Kahn and Kronika and Kronika is garbage too.
@@corpsedesecrator2612 yeah the only difference between Tanya and D'Vorah is that Tanya actually has a fanbase and is visually appealing. And the only quality that can be appreciated with Kronika is her design and Jennifer Hale did a good job voicing her. Also fun fact Tanya and Kronika share an actress.

D'vorah is one of the most hated Mortal Kombat villains ever in history. That's all I have to say beside the fact that bugs creep me out and she creeps me out more than any bug on this planet! So overall I'm gonna give D'vorah the title of the 2nd worst Mortal Kombat character ever. And also I'm gonna give her a 2/10!
Me personally D'Vorah is the absolute worst Mortal Kombat character not even the 3D Era infamous characters like Jarek, Hsu Hao, Kobra, Meat, and Mokap are as annoying and hateble as her especially since

There are 2 reasons why I hate D’vorah:
1. She kills and defeats fan-favorites: I’m not a big fan of Scorpion, Melina or Baraka however I do like Rain and Kotal but I see how strong they are and in my opinion she doesn’t deserve this victories or kills.
2. She steals protagonist to the best characters: like Bi-Han, Reptile, Rain and many others, this characters deserve more chapters then a random nobody (D’vorah).
I’d love to see her and collector get more screen time but have the collector as a true neutral

Honestly being retconned into the lore is why I don't like most of the NRS Era characters.. Kotal Kahn being a powerful general and Jade's love interest, D'Vorah doing literally anything, Erron Black being intertwined with characters dating back to the Tournament, Skarlet being one of Shao Kahn's assassin's in Mileena's place, the Collector being intertwined with characters and being involved in events predating the Tournament, and finally Geras, Centurion, and Kronika being literal gods in direct relation to Shinnok and never being acknowledged or mentioned until MK11. Like I get that we need new characters, but if D'vorah and the Collector were such capable subjects to Shinnok and Shao Kahn, why did they never acknowledge them for the duration of two entire timelines. Lol. I mean Shao Kahn acknowledged Baraka who has never won a fight in his life many times over the years, but never mentioned the Collector or Erron Black who was supposedly under his employment the entire time? Makes no sense.
That was an issue with the old timeline as well.

D'Vorah is the greatest Kharacter introduced in MKX. Her race is interesting, her looks are great and she is EFFECTIVE, something extremely rare in MK antagonists. The reason she is disliked is that same effectiveness because Scorpion "fans" think that he should never lose and Mileena fans are... well, we all know how they are.
I love D'Vorah, my favorite MK Kharacter. Her winning makes way more sense than any win the Kombat kids got. D'Vorah is old, she has centuries of experience, the Kombat Kids are teenagers that somehow defeated Kotal and even Shinnok. The one who was forced down our throats was Cassie, not D'Vorah
D'Vorah is the most successful villain in Netherealm games history. Outside of Shang Tsung in Aftermath if you choose for him to win. When a subordinate looks better than most of your main villains you're doing something wrong.
