I remember the bat always feeling heavy to me in little league… heavy bat= slow swing. My advice for kids and my future son will be swing the bat every day, put a donut on it, lift weights and go to the cages as much as possible. Was a stud in the infield but my hitting lagged far behind. Hind sights 20/20

I love what you teach. I believe in it 100%.
I am in the process to help my 14 year old to do this. I just hope by your short videos I can make this happen and not mess him up lol. He has bought in 100% also.

I am about to start too with my 14 YO. I am going through the videos and talking first so he has the vision of what we are trying to do. Will start swiging pretty soon. We are in the middle of a season so I want to make sure he is solid enough to try it now and not wait for next season. How is it going so far ?

I have always taught this way because it was how I was taught in the early 80’s. The problem is so many coaches disagree with it now and allow all kinds of movement while in the stance. My son has had multiple coaches telling him to wave his bat, they hate that he stands still. When I mention it’s the way he was taught, they start giving me all their “pro” credentials implying I know nothing because I’m just a parent.

I like the movement. Helps the hands trigger like Bonds. But a child won’t get that. Just saw what you were talking about.

This is my first year managing a majors little league team and I’m trying to get my kids to swing like this it’s a little frustrating for them because they say they can’t hit like that but then I exposed a video of Aaron Judge in slow motion doing what I’m trying to teach them and now all of them are trying hard to swing like that!! Awesome awesome videos you have!!

This issue with the youth will always exist when you have parents teaching that know nothing about how to hit. Just a fact of life. No way around it. Love your teaching!

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford lessons with high level coaches but there is a way around it. The parent can show youtube videos to their child and learn the teacherman mechanics. It’s not rocket science. I’ve learned his method and my 15u son is learning it from both him and me. I’m seeing improved results every time we go to the cages.

Well sometimes a parent does their best n do all we can watching videos n loving the kids n watching them play n have fun while developing a true love for a sport I've coached for years heck decades now n I'm not at all bad but we try to improve too n teach other kids along with our own all we can n at least when I coach I know all kids r treated equal n coach the same encouraged n loved n hard on too it's not powder puff so I'm tough but not abusive n I've seen abuse in youth sports a bunch

I see the point--this allows for a quicker swing. I still think you're taking away power by trying to start from a stand-still (but maybe I'm wrong--like is said, good hitters should be able to initiate the swing from standstill).
FWIW: watching tee-ball, coach pitch, little league, to PONY; you can absolutely tell whether or not the batter can hit: if they wiggle (and look comfortable) they're a good hitter--if they stand still or the movement looks unnatural, they're not good hitters (I've seen very few good hitters have a stance from complete standstill--but I definitely _have_ seen it!).

Stance, load, burst. But don’t load? I’m confused. You’re saying load, but don’t move?

    • @fallenjonathang12
      @fallenjonathang12 Před 9 měsíci +1

He is saying keep your legs loaded in a “tense” position. Then you explode from there. You can stand at the plate and be loose then you can be coiled or loaded which is where you burst from.

  • @JosephWilliams-py1bd

This is a very debatable and misleading video.
Players that move their bats around prior to their load, are more ready to hit than others.
The burst you are referring to comes after their load. Burst = another word for whip and attack.
A players routine is their routine for a reason. After they do whatever feels comfortable to them pre-load, which is highly encouraged, does not interfere with their load and whip. If a player understands timing, their bat wiggle has ZERO affect on their load/whip.
There isn’t a single baseball coach in the world that knows everything. Please understand that and you’re welcome 👍🏻

@Steve Knight... You're the kind of fool who has probably always subscribed to the conventional views of literally any and every thing. The kind of guy who loves the crowd. Needs the crowd. Is afraid to investigate something _provocative_ for fear that he'll be outside of the crowd. And it's only provocative because the crowd, whom you idolize in the baseball establishment, doesn't want this guy anywhere near them because it's a slap in their face that a guy in a basement watching film and mimicking swings figured out what no hitting coach in MLB ever did. The guys who swing this way don't even know they're doing it. And they also therefore can't teach it. But Teacherman Rich figured it out and he does teach it.
It's an invasion of their space. And you'd rather kiss the crowd's ass... we get it. So again. Fool.
