    The importance of battery platform makes the Milwaukee compelling. I own a boat load of Milwaukee tools and use them every day for daily living. Evolution only has a small (almost non existent) use for there batteries. I eventually switched over to makita xgt 40volt and am working toward daily life with makita.

      I do agree that if you’re already invested in a brands batteries you’re pretty much locked in. I have many cordless Makita tools too and very much enjoyed them, they’ve lasted me years!

    Evolution should give me a job designing their next mitre saw. All these tools company seem to run away with who can offer the largest cuts and sacrifice accuracy, compactness, lightness and safety features.

    Nice review yet again. Sadly, I've no room or budget for either saw. I also believe in "Never say never. " I'm not on either battery platform, and the price point of the Evolution tools is attractive. And I have loyalty point from them. Take care & stay safe M8.

    I didn't know Evolution had released this saw. I have the corded version, this looks quite a bit better, quite a bit more money, but it still looks competitively priced.

      They’re certainly improved a fair bit from the corded model I reviewed. I guess it just depends how important not being near a socket is to you 😁

    That’s crazy on the American version of the Milwaukee that LED light is a shadow line that’s positioned on the front of the guard of the saw. I honestly would not buy that saw without a shadow line.

    I own mwkee. And got evol 225 single bevel mitre, dust extr and mitre table. Minus in dust extractor when small particle its clogs up quickly. I mean to quickly. Saw horse just to heavy. And mitre saw is atrocious. Bevel handle had to cut down as stuck on tight. Straight cut never was straight as fences total wank up😅. No chance to do 45 on bevel.
    I’ve watched all your vid and seen you moved fence. Did they improved them some how, so you don’t need calibration after? If its like a like then its no go at all. Great vid btw.

    I would peraonally pick the evolution for longer run time and the fact it is $100 cheaper and the fact that the miter saw stand is significantly less expensive.

    Good comparison, i enjoyed it. A question though, have you been sent the Milwaukee as well or is it your main saw? Are these gonna be part of long term testing?
    I run a corded metabo kgs 254, which has been amazing, but really want a battery one and one that i can fit into my newly completed workshop. Id love to keep mine long term but ideally want a fixed rail to save space so the makita 40v seems perfect but expensive 😢.

    • @sumeraybuilds
      @sumeraybuilds  Před 9 měsíci

      I was sent both. I haven't planned on testing them long term, I don't really have the space to store both saws. I don't think you can go wrong with either saw.

      @@sumeraybuilds There's too many variants on the market specially £200 - £300 range. I'm in the market for a lightweight saw 12kg max but they all seemed to be crap in one way or another. no soft start. no electric brakes. To have those features and accuracy one needs to step up another level and look at the big boy toys £600 - £1200 range. I already own the Hikoki 36v mitre saw good but at 22kg it's not ideal for jobbing.

  • @Rob-om4fe
    @Rob-om4fe Před 9 měsíci

    Interesting comparison. I'm mainly on the Metabo platform and they have just recently released their 18v mitre saws in September this year. Purchased the 305mm version and its a beast at a price point of £399-£450 depending on retailer. The weight is surprisingly 17kg without battery which isn't bad for a 305mm machine. Has all the same features as these two saws e.g. shadowline, double bevel etc. and they're always doing freebies for batteries and saw blades and other tools if you spend over a certain amount.
    Metabo also have a 254mm version with weighs only 15kg without battery. Wierdly, retailers are pricing the 254mm version roughly the same price point as the 305mm in the region of £399. For an extra £20 quid I went with the 305mm and paired it with a Toughbuilt TBS-600 form Toolstation at around £175 at the time. it's quite large but very robust and pairs well with a large saw.
    Would love to see more people doing reviews of Metabo tools as they have very good quality especially their impact drivers and angle grinders which are best in class.

    • @sumeraybuilds
      @sumeraybuilds  Před 9 měsíci

      That sounds like a nice setup you've got there!
      I've also heard very good things about Metabo. I actually managed to pick up one of their sanders on my 1p to £1,000 series and it's become my favourite sander!
      The fact that Metabo offers incentives like free batteries, blades, and tools is a huge plus too!

    • @jlhuk52
      @jlhuk52 Před 9 měsíci

      I noticed that the metabo 18v are great price wise comparable to other companies and I currently have the 254 corded one from last year, which is amazing. They did 2x additional blades for free. I'm only disappointed that it's a moving rail so have to have clearance behind when in a workshop. I may have to look at Makita for this reason if I want to go cordless. +1 for metabo 😊

    • @LangfordBeatz
      @LangfordBeatz Před 9 měsíci

      For the record I also pronounce it like this, don't think it really matters, it's what the saws do that interests me and these both seem like beasts to be honest and they are definitely both better than what I have. I guess it comes down to what battery set up you already have as to whether you'd go for either of these. I use DeWalt stuff and Im pretty sure the equivalent is priced higher than both of these, great video though very informative and to the point!

    • @chrisb2443
      @chrisb2443 Před 9 měsíci

      @@sumeraybuilds the pronunciation is subjective so who’s to say what is right or wrong.
      Great review by the way. The evolution saw is certainly an improvement over the mains powered model I have. You can see they have put some thought into it. Seems to be really good value.
      I suppose at the end of the day, if you’re already on the Milwaukee battery system then it’s a no brainer… but if not then the Evolution is well worth considering.

      Milwaukee every day of the week if I could afford it , which is why I run the Evolution 185 . Before I purchased it , I read lots of reviews and for my budget , it's the best . Weighs next to nothing , well thought out design and cuts well what I want cutting . Evolution blades are more expensive I think .
