I recently discovered this version of the choke and have had much more success vs grabbing the back of the collar. I come across this video and realize I already liked it at some point. Why I didn't start doing it this way then, I'll never know. Who knows what other techniques I've seen and have forgotten about before trying. Great instruction. Short and to the point.
How do you stop your opponent from blocking your leg coming over with his right arm. Been trying this but getting blocked. And can I also do this from normal side control without reefing his lapel out and handing to hand under his neck?
I think you can still get the choke with a deep thumb in collar grip like a (punch grip). *Thats just from looking at the video and my understanding of the setup before the step over. I havent tried it yet
@@guimechanics2399 yes, I know!! I was being facetious. The Gracies are always claiming that they invent everything! I know Flavio Canto invented this awesome choke!

I always try for the flavio and I often use that lapel grip from side control. Perfect merger
That's one handsome purple belt getting choked!
That purple belt is ugly and doesn't have good bjj..m
@@marisamares5029 please do go on. I want to hear an in-depth critique of his technique.
Awesome !
Nice 👍🏼 - like the Stepover Choke, but with jacket lapel rather than the collar…

Distract him with something else. Or, I usually wait for them to try to escape. When that hand is busy, that's when I step over.
Let me guess.....the Gracies created this choke?
no, Flavio Canto did

@@Burzurk1987 You’re generalizing, nowhere in this video did they make any claims. Which puts you at the same level of your hollow accusation.
