    In the 2021 remastered version, E2M6 The Dismal Oubliette, the entrance area was restored to its uncut size. As a result, there's a new third secret. Wade through the waist-deep lower path that connects all the flooded chambers together. Look at the underside of the cavern bridges you pass under, and you'll find one with a red target-button. Shoot it and you'll reveal a room in the cavern wall containing red armor and quad damage.

    I super appreciate the time stamps and straight forward editing. No distracting annotations, convenient secret counter on the bottom right, music included, no narration, and best of all... each secret is short and right to the point and transitions seamlessly. All videos on game secrets should follow this exemplary model. 10/10.

      as far as I know it looks worse than quake mods made by fans for free.

    Gotta say.. the remaster upped the lighting a ton. Not saying I’m not enjoying it but I like this low level lighting a lot more. Anyway this guide is helping me find the more obscure secrets of Quake and for that I’m grateful

    Great video man thank you for putting this together! I've been playing this game since 96 and still haven't found all these myself yet!

    Great vid, well edited. You don't waste our time.
    It could be a little brighter just to clearly show where the secrets are, but this is how Quake is meant to look. It's a very dark game. I see so many people significantly increasing the gamma/brightness, which entirely ruins the atmosphere of this classic. Some source ports even do this by default.

      Thanks. I agree, the light effects are part of what makes Quake, Quake. Some people even play with fullbright on, no shadows at all. I really dont like that.

    The torch one and the backside of the portal alone were well worth the watch.
    Thanks!

    what's the meaning behind that symbol in The Underearth?
    Excellent video, by the way. Going through Quake 1 using DarkPlaces. Can I ask your preferred modern setup and why?

      @MuppetChronus  Před 5 lety +2

      Apparently it's the logo for a Doom wad that Tim Willits (the map designer) made for Doom2 with his sister. quake.fandom.com/wiki/Easter_Egg#The_Initials_Chamber
      Darkplaces is fine, but I kinda prefer ports that keep it close to the original. Quakespasm is fine for that.

    The pipe gun is where Valve got the inspiration and gave it to Demo.

    Useless. Too dark to see anything.
