I'm a FSU fan and I remember Ed Reed's senior year thinking, finally this guy is leaving. Then the camera showed #26 on the sidelines and they said this kid Sean Taylor is the heir apparent. He was unbelievable. RIP

The 2001 secondary was by far the best collection of talent I've ever seen....Antrel Rolle, Sean Taylor, Al Blades, Phillip Buchanon, Ed Reed, Mike Rumph, James Lewis, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple. The only secondary I can think that comes close would be the U.S.C. secondary in the late early 80's with Ronnie Lott, Joey Browner, Dennis Smith, Jeff Fisher, and Tim McDonald. The Canes was just next level crazy talent. Then you follow that up with future NFL players Kelly Jennings, Randy Phillips, Kenny Phillips, Devin Hester before moving to receiver in the NFL, Sam Shields who started at receiver before moving to corner. Just damn!!!!

I think that the hit Sean Taylor put on PK Sam at 2:09 was in 2003 or 2004, can't remember exactly... I just remember watching it live when I was like 13 or 14 and instantly jumping off the couch and yellin "OOOOOOHHHH!!!!" for like a good 20 seconds... The U needs to come back yo. Put it up for them Cane boys!!!

GENERALSPARTAN27 I thought that for a while but the real problem is the DL. He's got to get the big boys up front otherwise he can't do all the formations and looks he really wants to do. It's a serious problem recruiting wise. Hopefully these two big JC guys will plug the middle.
GENERALSPARTAN27 Can't judge the defensive coordinator...He has had Sun Belt quality talent to work with...Clock is on him now, but I'd expect some improvement this season and then major improvement moving forward.
How can you fault him when UM is trotting out Cornelius, Highsmith, Rogers, Gaines, Green, Renfrow, etc... etc... as key players??

The U produced so many good and great college and pro players. Before Miami became Quarterback U, they were Defensive Lineman U, they were Wide Receivers U, they were Runningbacks U, they were Tightend U, they were Linebackers U and they were Defensive Backs U. They also produced great kick returner in Devin Hester, Santana Moss, Daryl Jones, Kevin Williams, Philip Buchanon. They had so many great defensive backs to come thru the U. They had Burgess Owen's, Bennie Blades, Ed Reed, Mike Rumph, Philip Buchanon, Antrel Rolle, Sean Taylor, Bubba McDowell and more. Many of their defensive backs were great punt blockers.
What's even crazier is that if I'm not mistaken most of these guys if not all are from the Miami area

I'm a Canes fan, but I don't hate the 'Noles. I make fun of them a lot, but more in a "big brother" kinda way. And besides, the enemy of my enemy (The Florida Gayturds) is my friend, ;).

I am a TEXAS football fan through and through but I can say that Miami is the only other school that can claim to be a real DBU school. I don't see any others that have the reputation as hard hitting and take no prisoners of play like these 2 schools.
