That's Rammstein. They sing about cannibalism, incest, rape, school-schooting, necrophilia...don't mind. That's metaphor, it's like a dark mirror for society and the depths of our souls. Just look what Shakespeare wrote about......And Till doesn't write his lyrics in simple ways, there is a poetic beautiness in the songs. Beautiness out of ugliness, that's art. And what they do, with all the cheesy show, is so oversubscribed and with a wink, that you can't take it too serious, even if you understand every german word. They have a dark humour.

@@nikkismodernlife No, beautiness isn't a real word. Sorry. But english is a foreign language for me. The song "Weisses Fleisch" on their debut is about killing frenzy at a school. "Du auf dem Schulhof, ich zum töten bereit, und keiner hier weiß von meiner Einsamkeit....." "You're on the schoolyard, and I'm ready to kill, nobody knows about my loneliness....." The song "Halt" from Liebe ist für alle da - album is about a shooting massacre, too. It's about a guy feeling bullied all the time, then going crazy. "Niemand quält mich so zum Scherz, ich bringe Licht an euer Herz, die Entscheidung fällt nicht schwer, ich geh jetzt heim und hole mein Gewehr" "No one tortures me just for fun, I bring the light into your heart, it's not a difficult decision, I'm going home and get my gun." Mein Teil is a song that retells the story of Armin Meiwes, a cannibal who posted an ad on a website called "The Cannibal Cafe" in 2001. His ad stated that he was "looking for a well-built 18 to 30-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed." Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes, an engineer from Berlin, answered Meiwes' ad. The two then solidified their agreement and met on March 9, 2001 at Meiwes' home. The two made a video which depicted Meiwes amputating Brandes' penis and then attempting to eat it raw, before ultimately having to fry it (in salt, pepper and garlic). Brandes was bleeding out, and Meiwes ultimately ended up reportedly killing Brandes by stabbing him in the throat and then hung his corpse on a meat hook. Meiwes ate the corpse over the course of ten months, storing parts of the corpse in his freezer. Meiwes was only captured after he had consumed 44 pounds of Brandes' flesh and then posted a new advertisement online, which caused the authorities to be alerted.
You can read all about his case and such online, but for the sake of citing information, I'll give you guys a link to the Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes

    1. For a couple who have taken interest in metal music and its subgenres, you guys have pretty low threshold for disgust and alienation.
Metal musicians have been writing about human horrors and atrocities since Day One. Hell, even Black Sabbath named their band after a horror movie of the same name, which was quite an avantgarde move back in the 60s'.
    2. Writing about serial killers and mass murderers have been a common trend among metal musicians. Slayer, Exodus, Mudvayne, Judas priest, etc. It's really not a novelty.
    3. Sori, easy with the baseless skepticism on the band's live performance. Not only Till (the vocalist), but all 5 other members of the band are licensed pyro-technicians, and this flamethrower gimmick was pretty trivial in comparison to the stuff they've done in the past.
    4. "Judge not lest thee be judged yourself". Devout Christians (ex-muslims) should know better.
This is niche entertainment, appealing to people with more flexible mindset and musical taste. So no Sori, "majority of the world" don't listen to Rammstein -or Metal- music.
    5. Providing some background and context before jumping into a song will go a long way, might even save one from a lot of awkward situations later on.

The Song is about a weird criminal case which took place in Rothenburg, Germany where two men meet each other one to eat the other and one to be eaten by the other one. The weird part is that it was consensual I think they even filed the whole ordeal. It is written from the perspective of the "victim" eating his own reproductive organ (don't know if youtube will filter other words) while bleeding out. which in case you are wondering actually happened. The phrase "Mein Teil" is referring to the male reprodictive organ.

Rammstein forces the listener to confront himself with these dark and terrifying things. You learn how to handle it and in doing so, become a better person. Getting to know the dark side is certainly a useful thing to do, because these things happen IRL. When i listened to Rammstein as a child, it made me grow as a person. I learned how to view things that were foreign to me from a different perspective.
This is only possible because Rammstein tell their storys in a neutral, observing way. They don`t judge, so the listener has to make up his own mind. This song in particular is an interesting look at the mind of a twisted person. I mean, it really makes you think how he got there, to do something like that.
EDIT: Also, this song has nothing to do with veganism, animal rights or anything on that regard. The metaphor "cuts through angels" is more meant to illustrate how for off the rails this person has gone. His actions are so beyond any moral that even angels just can't stand it, basically. His sin rips his soul apart. That is why his childhood is mentioned as well. It asks these question where did this "evil" began. Was there something weong in his childhood ? Or maybe the "evil" was in him all along. Or maybe viewing his actions as evil only depends on the perspective. Rammstein put a lot more thought behindn their lrics than most people think.

Since I see , that a LOT of people in the comments already explained the meaning of the song and what's it about so here's the translation of the lyrics:
    Today I'll meet a gentleman
He likes me so much he could eat me up
Soft parts and even hard ones [3]
    are on the menu
Because you are what you eat
and you know what it is
It is my part - no
    My part - no
There that's my part - no
    My part - no
The dull blade good and proper
I'm bleeding heavily and feeling sick
Although I have to fight to stay awake
I keep eating while in convulsions
    It's just so well seasoned
    and so nicely flambéed
and so lovingly served on porcelain
And with it, a good wine
    and gentle candlelight
    Yeah I'll take my time
You've got to have some culture
Because you are what you eat
and you know what it is
It is my part - no
    My part - no
Because that's my part - no
Yes it's my part - no
A cry will ascend to heaven
It will cut through hosts of angels
    Feather-flesh will shriekingly fall
from the top of the clouds onto my childhood
    *Fun facts:*
1 - although "Teil" in german means part or piece, it can also be a slang for "penis", which is high-likely what they were going for
2 - The reason why they were most likely going for the "penis" part is definitely because, the willing victim of Armin Meiwes, wanted his penis cut off, and they ate it together.

Song was entirely inspired by a crime report on Bernd Jurgen Brandes and Armin Meiwes (look into it :p) Till Lindemann *vocalist* said "It is so sick that it becomes fascinating and there just has to be a song about it." He does things and says things for shock value, is his artistic way to express rather than a literal "message." xD I love Rammstein cause he wont' hold back no matter what people may say about them :)

This is not what member of Rammstein promote they are not Cannibals they're just story tellers for instance their song Weiner Blut is about Josef Fritzl a man who kidnapped his own daughter trapped her under the basement of his house under the nose of his family faked the disappearance of her and kept her hostage for decades until she finally escaped.

They don't care who they offend. They're gonna say what they want whether you like it or not. Love Till's quote, "I'm not broken. The world is broken and my lyrics are a reflection of that." Hell yes!! To hear the guitars properly you need to hear either the live version from Paris or the studio version. Oh and you reckon this is visually shocking try the official music video! *evil laugh* 🤘🤘

It is absolutely literally about an act of ritualistic intimacy between two men in form of one beeing consumed by the other. Armin Meiwes, the Rothenburg cannibal, explained it pretty clear in an interview and the question, if it can be considered criminal if it was happening in consent kept jurists and media busy for quite a while. "Teil" means "part", but as the victim insisted on his genital beeing removed, cooked and fed to him, the implication is pretty clear what body part is sung about. It was an act of love.
I don't understand how you can love to eat meat and think bad of a butcher. It's like hiring a killer because you don't want to make your hands dirty and not just having a specialist do the job as a service, because today things are split between people that are good at something. If you want to eat meat, know how it's done at least and touch it, in the end, you should be able to harvest it yourself.
