    My husband has no interest at all in being involved. I've tried. It's less frustrating for me to not even to try. He wants our daughter to be homeschooled but he doesn't want anything to do with it. So if anyone has a husband who wants to hear and be involved please don't take that for granted. It would be such a blessing.

      Your videos have been helpful and inspiring. It’s been a chaotic ride the past three years from moving from my hubbys last duty station in Colorado before retiring to a homestead in the Ozarks. All and all we found raw land and are building a homestead from scratch with our two children. Trying to find balance and get back on track of homeschooling and personal goals has been difficult. I find your words so uplifting and your love for God just inspiring. Many many thanks!☺️

    You have mentioned adhd and having moved from Missouri. I have adhd and in Missouri. I’m going to have record keep next year and I’m feeling nervous on keeping track of time. Any tips or planners that have helped with that organization?

    • @mountainhomesteadfamily
      @mountainhomesteadfamily  Před rokem +1

      Hello Abby! YES! I do have a couple tips that helped me SO MUCH! The biggest one is to create a list of the subjects you need to do daily and write next to them how long you want your child to take on them. This makes it super easy at the end of the week or month to add everything up, especially if you are regular about spending a certain amount of days a week on school. I would look at getting a good planner specific to homeschool. Plum Paper Planner and Mardel's A Simple Plan are good. They will help you track what day's you do your schedule. You can also use these for reverse planning as follow's; write a loose schedule for the year, month or week in them, but then at the end of the week just jot down what you actually accomplished if there was more you did-and the approximate amount of time you spent.
      Lastly is just to be intentional, which can be hard, especially for those of us with ADHD. We need to plan extra buffer time and wiggle room just for that, and not feel bad about it. One of the biggest mistakes I always made early on was letting visitors come whenever they wanted instead of when worked best for us. We would lose a quite a bit of time because of this and end up having to school through the summer, so I went onto a forum once and a bunch of seasoned homeschool mom's told me how to fix this. They told me that I needed to plan my on and off weeks in the beginning of the school year-then let my family/friends know our school schedule and when they were welcome. You can also coordinate pre planned visits, but make sure to put them on your calendar so you know how much time you have to work with. Also, be sure to plan buffer days! It helps to not take call's during school hours and things like that.
      I will warn you, some family and friends might not understand at first. A lot of people expect homeschool families to adjust their schedules for them since "they don't go to public school". You can do this a little, but if you do it for everyone you can quickly find you haven't fulfilled the state requirements and have run out of time. This is why it's helpful to know how much wiggle room you have to work with and always refer to that.
      I hope this helps! Here are a few other planning video's I have that you might enjoy and that might be helpful;
