  • More efficient model for original perpetual motion design (WITH WORKINGS), created by Christopher Antoniou: • Original "Perpetual Mo...
    A near perpetual motion machine (design with extremely low dissipation of energy, still constrained by 1st/2nd laws of thermodynamics) using purely gravitational energy (steep slopes) and two even heavy spheres on an asymmetrical pivot. In this self-sustaining system the weighted curvature on the longer side of the pivot (acting as counterweight, Archimedes lever) allows one sphere to raise the platform - yet also simultaneously return the platform back to origin whilst progressing underneath the curve as the other sphere falls gently on a stepped tier perfectly timed ready for the next cycle. A rotating tube on an axle is attached to the left platform for seamless re-entry of the spheres.

    If it can't start on its own in the beginning, it won't start on its own for the second cycle. It's just not efficient enough, Even with much more precision and lower friction design, it will only achieve one cycle.

      Let's say even if it works for the first cycle, it will only do a couple of cycles as friction and air resistance will stop it.

    At the beginning the moving parts have four supports. In "automatic mode", a fifth leg is hidden between the legs, which is used for the drive. If you look closely, there is a little hole in the table top through which the fifth leg leads down. The non-soft movements suggest a manual drive.

      He mentions a tube on an axle in the video description. I thought it would be able to run a couple times from the initial energy used to start it, but it looks like this would not work.

      I think its even simpler than that. Notice his pockets have something in them during the demonstration. He rocks from side to side each cycle; there is possibly fishing line connected to it such that he can pull it down or release it.

      @MonkeeSage Před 2 lety +2

      @@ABW941 It's not the tube we are seeing, it's another clear vertical piece running up to the top ramp between the back two vertical supports (close the pivot), that appears to be going through the table and moving up and down to move the top ramp.

      The description states that there is a device for returning balls. The problem is that the ball at the bottom right and the ball at the top center do not cause any imbalance. It would be necessary to solve so that the upper ball could roll spontaneously to the left end of the lever (swings). The external force required for this could indeed be very small. The model in the video requires a relatively large external force to create an imbalance.

      Not being confined means acknowledges that it's not a perpetual motion machine, however this machine isn't moving because of the marbles tho, it's pumped. Like think for a second, why wouldn't the lever drop before the bottom marble rolls onto the other side

    • @monsieur2761
      @monsieur2761 Před 2 lety +3

      @@boflator yeah and notice closely the initial configuration: he had to push the upper lever to start the machine, but when the system resets to the original configuration at the end of a cycle, he doesn't need to push the upper lever again. If somehow the initial energy given in the form of "push" is conserved, it'd have made sense but there's nothing apparent that it's getting conserved, as the upper ball basically goes to rest before the beginning of next cycle and the lower ball at max, can apply a horizontal jerk in the right direction, which won't be able to start the next cycle
      A rotating Earth is much more of a PMM than this design.

    Its not on a "rocking chair" as someone else mentioned... Its peddle powered. After the cut, there is a new leg added behind and to the right of the central pivot that you can see move in time with his right leg to actuate the motion. Which explains the rocky motion and mistimed movement. It also explains why a marble that isn't pushing against the counterweight would not actuate the motion, but one with the counterweight did

    1. At the end, during the “illusion stage”, you notice a 5th plastic rod has suddenly appeared, and attached to the pivoting platform.
    2. Odd how his body moves in a rocking motion, left to right and left again, in sequence to the pivot rocking up then down.
    3. Why is he using coloured cardboard on his table? Hiding much?
    4. Oh yeah, that white hole in the cardboard that the 5th rod extends into, that is somehow attached to the body so movement affects its rise and fall.

The ball rest has a magnet in it, and under the table there is an opposing magnet, manipulated with the foot to come into alignment and out of alignment. Leg movement gives it away, as well as the reason for using glass marbles instead of metal. Steel ball bearings would've got stuck to the lifting arm.

      There is a small string behind the machine and most likely as the string is pulled the machine is pulled upwards using the screws as a semi gear to turn the machine since it is light. The reason this machine isn’t effective cause of the odd motion it has in where there is moment of pausing meaning a external force is is going to be a work to have a reaction. This machine also doesn’t really push the beam down at a right time since the ball hitting the bottom part of it would actually keep it from tipping because of the force going down and not up.

      This is a misleading video. There's no way that the lever gets imbalanced when the lower ball gets to the rightmost end, when it wasn't imbalanced when there was no lower ball at the right end at all. Doesn't make any sense. Also notice how he had to give it a jerk at the start of the first cycle while no jerk was needed at the start of the subsequent cycles, even though the start configurations are exactly same. Also there are irregularities in timings of how the right arm of the lever is raised with respect to the timings of the lower ball entering the end in every cycle.
      Most likely, they might've used magnets, or fish wires.

  • @Throefly
    @Throefly Před 3 lety +1

    Of course the problem is that the machine doesn't work; if it did, the motion would begin automatically as soon as both spheres were in a stable configuration that is shown afterward to result in continued motion... it doesn't, and so the illusion fails. Though, that said, you've done a magnificent job hiding the power source and actuation method.
    As an additional proof, I'll note how non-fluid the actual motions are after the machine is turned on; it's obvious there's either something on a crude timer, or a person triggering this device for each cycle.

    I don't know why a lot of people get mad at these videos it's like going to a magic show watching the magician cut a woman in half then getting mad and walking out because it's not possible. Well no shit it's a magic show we are suspending our disbelief for entertainment. Also I like these because they really get me thinking about the laws of physics and how just because something looks like it should work doesn't mean that it does.

    Strange contraption. At 1:22 even in its very 1st "auto" cycle, you can see that there is absolutely NO reason for it(the right side) to just start going up again when it does, or at all for that matter. I guess its suppose to seem "timed" such that the balls momentums are "somehow" involved ? Play @.25X. Probably 🐟line.

    S'il ne peut pas démarrer tout seul au début, il ne démarrera pas tout seul pour le deuxième cycle. Ce n'est tout simplement pas assez efficace, même avec beaucoup plus de précision et une conception à faible friction, il ne réalisera qu'un seul cycle.
