  • In this video I walk along Bay Ridge Brooklyn's 5th avenue, where I showcase some local restaurants during what was relatively, a pretty cold Winter day in New York. Temperatures were around 40F but it was a windy night.

Grew up here, so much has changed. See a few places I remember are still around. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Hey, what ever happened to the dive bar on 90-something street called The Studio. It later became Banana Fish Park. I also recall two other popular bars Horsefeathers and Skinflints along 5th Ave. Nice to see Skinflints still there. Man-o-Manischewitz does this take me back to 1960's/70's Bay Ridge. Really boss.

Skinflints used to be an ice cream shop. Yes, it's still there.

As a temporarily displaced New Yorker, this both makes me a little homesick, and gives me an hr in NY...the World's Greatest City...

@@Antonioonthego Me too. I'm pretty much of an alien, anywhere else...it SOUNDS like you're both speaking English... but they lack that grasp of internationalism, worldliness, that makes New Yorkers the people they are. I'm really tired of dumbing everything down...just to have a chat...OF SOME KIND.

Thanks for this. Grew up next door, in Sunset Park. Always enjoyed Bay Ridge, though. Bay Ridge was predominantly Scandinavian, not Italian. Seeing Skinflints was great. Voted best burger in N.Y.C. recently. Gerard Bell is the owner, one of the nicest people on the planet!

Born n 1950 in Brooklyn. Lived and worked in Brooklyn all my life. Retired in 2011. Lived in all different parts of Brooklyn including Bay Ridge. Flagg Court Apartments. Used to go to SkinFlints every night after my shift. Those were the best days and nights in the 70’s. Didn’t need to wear a diaper on your face and refused to wear it now. They don’t work anyway and it’s been proven many times.

Skinflints is awesome, old ice cream shop. I mainly grew up in Bensonhurst, and then I moved to Staten Island at age 22. I spent a lot of time in Bay Ridge growing up too. Especially after I got my driver's licence. We'd also take the trains there and hang out in the night clubs.

@@joepasquarello1273 well, as was said, we'd probably like to hear the story. After my mother, that place is the only reason I go back. If that place closes, after my mother has passed, I'll have no reason to go back. And I've told them so. My son lives in LA and came upon another Pizza Wagon that is apparently connected to the one in Bay Ridge.
