In this video, I explore Bay Ridge in Brooklyn. This neighborhood is residential and really diverse. If you walk through 5th Ave and 3rd Ave, you will see lots of shops and restaurants. The neighborhood is served by the R train. Once you head west of Bay Ridge, the neighborhood feels more like a suburb with beautiful houses, tree lined streets. It also has a view of the waterfront with Verrazano Bridge which divides Brooklyn with Staten Island. In my opinion, this is one of Brooklyn's most underrated neighborhoods. Hope you enjoy this video, stay tune for more.

I lived in Bay Ridge from 1963 to 1972.
I had a great childhood there.
    Many happy memories.
Went to school at PS 102 and Our Ladies of Angels.
    Both great schools.

Subscribed. This is true Brooklyn with actual diversity, which is why, as Manny points out, it resembles many parts of Queens. The transplants in places like Park Slope don't like Bay Ridge because, for them, Bay Ridge includes the "wrong" kind of diversity, namely cultural diversity + socioeconomic diversity + diversity of thought. The transplants in Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Williamsburg, Prospect Heights etc. embrace different colors *as long as you think exactly like them.* If you don't like true diversity, or can't live alongside ALL of the following, you won't like living in Bay Ridge, or much of south Brooklyn for that matter: liberals, conservatives, cops, firefighters, EMTs, teachers, doctors, lawyers, small business owners, Muslims, East and South Asians, Mexicans, people from the Balkans, the secular, the religious etc. Bay Ridge is also only off the R train, which can be very inconvenient. True diversity plus the inconvenient train situation protects this neighborhood from incursions by the intolerant professionals (of all races and colors) who "celebrate" cosmetic diversity while resisting true diversity and homogenizing the culture.
RE. 12:20 Some of the most patriotic people in Bay Ridge are actually immigrants or first-generation Americans. Shout out to ALL the people of Bay Ridge, whether fiercely patriotic or not.

As a Bay Ridgite, I agree with your comments on "true diversity".. makes perfect sense to me! The various groups here have kept their culture and identity for sure. Unfortunately, there is some racism that goes along with that, but overall it is a peaceful & very safe neighborhood.
Manny walked past my apartment haha. As far as the flags, yes there were a bunch around at that time, but it was June, near Flag Day as well as leading up to Independence Day.. I remember noticing extra flags at that time;)
I enjoy living in BR & don't really find the R train inconvenient...but I agree there are plenty of people who think it is & is too far.. that's okay, hope they keep thinking that way so it remains the lovely neighborhood it is without excessive gentrification! 😊

Ironically it had nothing to do with Bay Ridge. It was really about a British town that was set in Brooklyn.

Hi Manny...At the 12:30 mark you showed the filming location of Tony Manero (John Travolta) house in the movie "Saturday Night Fever." where 95% of the movie was shot in Bay Ridge...I don't think this was a coincidence....did you know this? ... In 2016 when I took a holiday to NYC, I went to Bay Ridge and shot this too and the other many filming locations of the movie which still exit in the area...You should do an update filming locations of the movie....Enjoy your channel....greetings from Australia !

@@MannyExploresVlog Awesome...there are many scenes from the movie....just like when you walked down where 4th & 5th merge just before that little park grass area passing by that little car sales shop(in the movie it was Fishermans Corner Cafe) and Kellys Tavern next door....many scenes at the Verrazano Bridge / Basket ball courts / Lennys pizza / Hardware Store / White Castle(now is UNO) / Nightclub....all in Bay Ridge..the list goes on....anyways, have a great day!
