This is an alternate 1995. It is the future that never was... The future that will never be... A future that exists only in dreams caught on VHS!
Nothing wrong with 1995. Was the last good year. In 1996 I was forced by my employer to start using that damn mobile phone and e-mail. I still hate it until this day. I already hated Telex and the fax even more. They are machines from hell.

I think the reason we miss the 80s so much is that it was filled with so much promise for the future. I mean besides "flying cars", there was the sense that technology and humanity had no limits, and would bring endless fascination.
Now we're living in a future thats nothing like that. Almost everything, in one way or another, has fallen into ruin, and we're unable to change any of it, despite all the technology we have. In a lot of ways, we're actually worse off now than we were then. So we listen to synth wave, as it reminds us of that future we were once hoping for, and perhaps still are.

Yes and no. The flying cars stuff is more from the 50s and 60s, the mood in the 80s was not like that. Interest in technology was still pretty niche. If anything the 80s were about making money and having a good time.
Dude the problem with most tech in our time now is capitalism. The search for the next tech is profit driven, and not inovation driven. Tech giants who have the possibility to change the world mostly think how can we add to our product in the smallest way and make the most profit. The 80s were dudes in their garage passionate as fuck making cool shit because they loved it.

Voters gave 3 landslide victories to Republican presidents whose basic appeal was that they would lower taxes and let people get rich if they were successful. Yes people were passionate about creating new things but it was tied up with entrepreneurship & creating companies to make money, many of those tech giants of today were created in that environment.
If you're creating cool shit in your garage or whatever, and it's in some way useful to someone, then you can sell it and make money. If it isn't useful, you're just jerking off tbh.
The Trans A.M. song captures the feel so perfectly. Cant get enough of the bass line and the synth .

When this one got printed for the first time with like a Kickstarter type campaign. I couldn’t believe that my my synthy dreams are coming true and I was going to be able to hold the record in my hands and play it and how good it was gonna sound, wowwy zowwy !
Love this album!! The track at 34:04 sounds like it would be playing to the ending credits over a sunset background of a late 80's early 90's 16-bit action video game.

The album has been removed from Spotify in all countries. Something really weird is going on, I noticed that initially a few tracks here and there disappeared, then EPs were removed, and eventually all the albums were taken down. Tried to reach out to George (the creator) but was ignored on all occasions. Very odd. At first I thought it was just a dispute with Future 80's or something but it seems like it could be something much worse? It seems like it was the collaborated tracks that disappeared first...
@@jackdowson9007 It's not just Spotify: All of his older (like pre-2019) stuff has been removed from his SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and official CZcams channels, too. I'd wager that given his newest stuff, he really wants to move on from his "old synthwave days". Don't know if that justifies the removal of almost all his old discography, but still.

There was No Music for about 5 Minutes and The mood startet to get worse, this Album turned everything to the best Party i ever organized.
