My mom worked for a local radio station back in 1967. She reported on concerts and she got to interview Lou Christie, The Turtles and The Rolling Stones!
I was 16 when this came out. Heard it several million times in the car back then. Never thought much about the lyrics at that time, but you two got me thinking about Lou's questionable behavior now. This guy is a regular Casanova 😍
Y'all are starting early today. There's a park ranger that has been struck by lightning 13 times who might disagree with that old adage lol
The key to the lyrics is when he says "forgive and forget". He's cheated on her before and is going to cheat on her again.
I was 17 years old and a junior in high school! How vivid this memory is especially since this song was very different from everything else and very very popular. Brings back good memories
You should watch Lou perform this on the Midnight Special. He had 3 very well known female backup singers. He had a beard, dressed in blue denim, and looking very delicious. 😉❤
I've seen Lou Christie many times in concert and he can still hit the high notes. Some other great songs of his to check out are " I'm Gonna Make You Mine", "The Gypsy Cried", "Two Faces Have I" and "Rhapsody in the Rain."
His "I'm gonna make you mine" is worth a listen 🙂
Lou Christie (nee, Luigi Alfredo Giovanni Sacco) is a great artist. Classically trained while in high school, he is now about 80 years old and is still working hard. In 2016, for example, he released "When You Were Young". Thank you for showcasing this rare talent. Your channel is terrific.
BJ's interpretation is spot on!! Typical 60's chauvinism here, the girl's feelings are not taken into account here at all. Great song tho!
I saw Lou Christie sing this the year it was a hit, 1966. I was 12 & went to see "Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars" (anybody remember that?). It was a whole lineup of people with hits touring the country, Lou, Paul Revere & The Raiders (took some great pics of them), Peter & Gordon etc.
Everyone always grins when Lou goes into that falsetto. He still tours and can hit those high notes.
Asia & BJ, His voice is very reminiscent of Frankie Valli. "Two Faces Have I" was another top 10 hit.
Love this song, thanks so much for playing it! I was 5 years old when it came out (1966) and was aware of it even then. Have always had this on my 60s blue-eyed soul playlist.
just a great pop tune. if and when i hear it on classic rock i hum and sing along.
I was only 14 when this song came out but I was old enough to know that I wanted to slap this guy!💥
Another 1960's skating rink song, love it! Thanks for reacting to it, love you guys!
OMGosh! I must be doing something right today......Going through youtube looking for something from Good old Lucky Lou Christie! I'm so excited that ya'll took the time to listen!! Yay........us old fogies still Live!!! :D
This brings back so many memories, the music around this time was just amazing . The Walker Brothers, Jeff Beck etc 1965/66
Great track! I first heard it back in the sixties. Back then it, really felt ahead of its time. It's nice to know that Lou's still doing his thing. It was great seeing your reactions to it.
