Traditionally, the "President" of China is pretty much a ceremonial role, a bit like the president of say, Germany or India, but with none of the powers of a commander-in-chief. The Chinese government structure is pretty confusing, and "official" positions like the president are more or less meaningless. Li Xiannian and Yang Shangkun served as "president" in the 80s, but the de facto ruler of China during that time was Deng Xiaoping, who never actually held any official position aside from some very minor ones, but he was the "paramount leader" for a decade, a position similar to Iran's "supreme leader", but unlike the "supreme leader" the "paramount leader" is not an official title. After Deng's retirement the official titles of president (of the country), general secretary (of the party) and chairman (of the military) merged into one "paramount leader" position.
Back those days when you used the title "President of China" it refers to the President of Republic of China (Taiwan) who that time was Chiang Kai-shek. That's why Mao Zedong and his successors refer themselves as "Chairman" or Chairman of the State. Just to distinguish themselves from the leader of ROC (Taiwan). Until the 4th Generation came during the time of Jiang Zemin they began to use the title "President of China" as PRC is Internationally recognized as "Only China" (One China Policy) and also "Paramount Leader of China" (as he occupies the 3 offices of State, Party and Military) then the title Chairman dropped from it's usage. These days Xi Jinping now using the Title "President of China" or calling himself President Xi than Chairman Xi.

For those who are concerned why Soong appeared twice: I can assure the video maker made no mistake. If you wikipedia it, you can easily figure out that after the preceding Liu Shaoqi had been persecuted to death during the Cultural Revolution, Soong and Dong Biwu (also on the list) became acting presidents. In the first several years after the Cultural Revolution's completion, there was actually no formal President of the state, since this occupancy was simply nonexistent. It was not until 1981 when Soong was decided an honorary President of the PRC. However, she was actually under very severe illness at that time, and unfortunately passed away within two weeks of her presidency, which was certainly a pity for this great woman. Several others were made presidents of the PRC during the following years of the 1980s. The system pervading currently in which the president is simultaneously the General Secretary of the CPC and the Chairman of the Central Military Committee hadn't come into being until Jiang Zemin, who became the party's general secretary in 1989 and subsequently became the president in 1993.
