Sound is good enough. However, you are likely to get a better experience using headphones (wired). However, if you did need to play through speakers it could just about do it and fill a room, but probably some distortion if full volume.
Good time of day. Tell me if you know if this LS84 model can work from the mains, without a battery. I have a 12 volt 2 A pen power supply, when I remove the battery from the DVD and just plug it through the power supply to the outlet, nothing happens. I had an experience with another portable DVD, and there when you unfasten the battery, you can plug the dvd itself into an outlet and it works. So the question is, does this ls84 dvd work without a battery, just from the mains?
I miss my old Panasonic LS91 it was pretty good but broke down a few times with the HO3 error code luckily I got it going every time I gave it a few day break. The battery in mine died and the screen fell off the hinges failed. If I ever find another one at a goodwill or eBay I might get it for old memories.
They do turn up on eBay sometimes, but asking price is starting to be collectable, so finding at 10-15£ may be hard. Nothing like putting in your physical media (dvd).
@@TechNewOld Yeah I support digital stuff but I still have a collection of dvd movies from Disney DreamWorks WB and Universal I found a new 10 inch INSIGNIA portable dvd player so I got a dvd player again. But Panasonic holds a special place for me I grew up with that brand. Maybe oneday if money isn't a issue or i win big I'l get another Panasonic portable dvd player again its just not worth it right now since portable dvd players are basically obsolete technology now
that is frustrating, probably not worth buying a new charger. I think the battery is an internal unit (can't remember) rather than classic AAA type. Oh well ...
I just looked, there are loads on eBay : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-Main-Charger-Power-Supply-for-Panasonic-DVDLS84-DVD-LS84-Portable-DVD-Player/293279763218?hash=item4448d60b12:g:WUEAAOSwkNRdpZB6 hope that link works, but £10 gets you a replacement (I am looking at eBay UK), not sure where you are based, but at that price for nostalgia maybe still worth it! Good luck
Can u check if this device can be hacked for emulators? or would it be better off gutting it and installing a PlayStation 2 in the shell for example to take advantage of the cheap TV.
Anything is hackable depending on how much time you put into it. I would say the screen is low resolution so probably better small screen out there, but I like the idea of trying to get ps2 guts in there, or maybe a retro pi.
Hi, that’s brilliant. Got to keep these retro units going. Keep watching DVDs before they are forgotten. However, you will have to be forgiving and patient: the resolution is no where near what we are used to streaming from our Netflix accounts to our mobiles/laptops and tablets , and of course does not match a DVD player to TV or blue Ray. I tested the LS84, you 86 probably a revision or two better but you will have to be forgiving to it!!!
@@TechNewOld Thanks for the fast reply. I placed my order and cant wait for it to come in the mail. Definitaly will be keeping it for years unlike those amazon branded portable dvd players that dont last very long.
hey I recently bought a Panasonic LS91 and i've been struggling to understand the battery at the back if someone can explain to me how you charge the battery and what is happening when i charge it without the battery .
I am so sorry but I can’t remember if the unit takes stand alone batteries or if it has an internal battery. Did you unit come with its power supply (plug/lead)? That is probably how you charge the unit if internal battery. If the unit uses stand alone batteries like AAA, you will need to charge those externally. Good luck.
I have an older version, your model has more features, my battery went caput, and it is not serviceable, even though it looks like it should be. anyway good video, except earth is flat.
thank you. unfortunately its probably not worth repairing yours, I guess if you are feeling nostalgic you could plug it into the mains. the more I think about it, the DVD is history, and its not like vinyl so unlikely to make a comeback.
Maybe see if the built in batteries inside the Pack can be rebuilt at a battery plus I know they do rebuilds on batteries might be worth a try depending on cost
💋 Thanks
i really like this , it looks solid , no bells or wistles but a nice little basic well made machine. hope sounds good on it ?

7 Hours is actually very good

I just bought the LS 86 Model. Ive gone through so many crap players on Amazon. Is the LS86 worth it?

@@sfkid9445 I would say build quality is good. Should be more robust that the newer cheap models. The fact that it’s still working is proof!
Can you post video of connecting this device to tv?
I no longer have it.
