Rare Siren! Federal Signal ""ST-12"" - Alert- Monmouth, IL

- This is in no way an official Federal Model Designation, but its the most accurate thing i could call it....
On Street view this appeared to be a direlect SD10, but when I was driving past on my way to another siren test, I noticed it was Definitely single port and not a normal SD10 by any means, So i stayed to film this
siren starts about 0:33
information and observations relayed to me by @midwestsirensandtrains and @AmericanSirenProductions
shows that this is a SD10 Cone, a 12 port federal chopper, and a Federal mount, but We think this is either a parted together siren, or this could very well be a Prototype or Very Early SD10 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
My friend moved to this town 2 months ago. When I sent this to her, she happily told me she lived near it and will take me to go see it when I spend the night in a few weeks!
Probably just a prototype SD-10. You have to realize, it’s in Illinois and Federal probably tested prototype models mostly within the state.
Doesn't the "D" stand for dual? If so then I have a feeling that this makes it less likely to be a prototype SD-10
STH-es don’t have choppers like this one
@@wigwagstudios2474 STH-10s actually have choppers
I-
nevermind
Just because it resembles something doesn't make it a "prototype". This is much more likely a siren cobbled together with different parts.
Love that wind up!
That sounds amazing! The tone is so smooth it almost sounds like it’s an ASC e-class
That's one of a kind my friend, lots of rare sirens seem to be popping up recently!
That's one rare siren! I've never seen this kind before, but Man that thing's amazing, I think they took an HOR 12 Port Rotor and stator and probably motor.... Unsure about the motor part.... But that having the SD-10 parts makes me think it's an early prototype single tone ST-10 or maybe something similar to that. Anyway, awesome video! That siren is one of a kind my friend. It really is.
670 Hz! Sounds like a mechanical ASC E-Class/iForce.
That’s pretty unique. Great video
Wow that’s neat! Seems like this is some sort of a single tone SD-10 model that was never made in mass! ALSO - on Streetview, you can see the bottom cone of the shroud about to fall off below the stator.
what’s the address? I have been looking and can’t find it
I don't know what it is but I love how it sounds.
Update I spoke to FedSig and they're completely stumped on what this is
Going to be going back when weather is a bit nicer and seeing about roof access or getting the drone up for more pics and will make an updated post in Siren Enthusiasts FB
There's also a mechanical single-tone at the old fire station. Know what it is?
@zechuel yes I've filmed it too its a fedelcode model 7
Nice find. Twice in one day I discovered new sirens on CZcams.
Thats awesome! It looks like they took the stator from a model 7, shoved a STH-10 rotor into it then slapped on parts from a SD-10… idk if I should consider this a abomination or not lol
STH-10 rotors are much bigger than Model 7 rotors, so it can't be an STH rotor. Also looks like the stator is too short for a Model 7. To me, it looks more like an H.O.R. style chopper/stator.
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan Yeah I noticed that Im thinking H.O.R. or Sireno but who knows it could have been customly cast for all we know
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan yup, looks like an HOR with the top of an SD-10 kinda.
@@TheSleepyMechanic0524 its a cut down sd-10 yall
@@That_2_guy2T Incorrect. The SD-10 has much more prominent bevels on the stator ports that this lacks, and the ports are too tall to be the 12-port side of the SD-10.
Incredible sound 😧
It sounds strikingly similar to a 2001
I noticed this siren August 2021 during a car show, but I thought it was just an old deactivated one, I was wrong.
Very nice footage
Also, the new boston il sd10 looks kinda like this, too.
Update: I'm 99% sure this and new boston's sd10 are both prototypes
The New Boston one is retired tho right?
I can see a model 2 FS there too.
@@ACAFanAdventures yes, it's inactive
Woah. Awesome video!
A RSH-10 with the deflector disc and squirrel cage removed
No because the RSH-10 and STH-10 have the same round stator holes. This has the rectangular holes like a Model 5/7.
Wow! An amazing video!
I guess it’s safe to call it a mystery siren for now. I can hear 2 other sirens in the background
That would be the vortex and 7 which are also ironicly near downtown... not very good spreading in this town
@@CameraManJohnny the spreading is just bad
I’m guessing this is an STH-10 that someone had quite a bit of fun customizing.
Not at all, STH-10’s have circles in the stators
lol
The STH-10 choppers are much larger than that.
Its looks more like a Single Tone SD-10 witch has the motor cover housing only
They would have a very long wind down.
incredible
Such a beautiful perfect "F" note.
Lol
I think this would be a “E”
@@therailcat9790 not saying your wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is an F
It's closer to an E than it is to an F. It is sharp, but still an E nonetheless.
this is like, right in between. 50 cents flat F, 50 cents sharp E. though, it seems like it leans a little bit more towards E as it VERY SLIGHTLY loses pitch over time (?)
what building is this on
what if the town got an SD-10 and asked for it to be single tone
Wouldn't it be ST-10 because im sure even if this is a prototype, it would still have a 10HP motor, right?
whoa… whats the exact location?
on one of the buildings near downtown, I was thinking this was an SD-10, I kinda knew this was some type of siren so therefore Monmouth would then have four sirens. But then
ofc people like Midwest Sirens say there are only "3", I didn't question him any further since I already triggered him that day by calling him a "rich kid delinquent" but always wondered that this
was a siren but was confused about it at the same time.
@@Pachola77x4 rich kid delinquent?? Drew’s my friend, not fucking cool
Sounds good
To me, this looks like a 12-port HOR rotor/stator, with the intake and motor cover from an SD-10. Looking on Streetview, it had the bottom half of an SD-10 as well but it fell off. Seems like they just slapped SD-10 parts on a HOR and called it a day, but haven't maintained it very well.
I looked on street view to and I found a red model 7 and a abandoned Model A
I imagine this is a SD-10 that’s single tone
Custom STH 10 or SD 10?
Is it possibly a HOR?
why do i hear a tone thats a third under the particular siren tone?
There's a vortex in town, too.
Hi I wanna ask you when this tests When we go there next week when does it test
Every Tuesday 10am
okay thanks. Cause this siren is rare I wanna take a trip and see it one day
I'm headed there today!!@@NSandBNSFrailfanProductions
I just saw this today so I went back on street view to take a look at this thing and it has the bottom of an SD-10 dangling off of it.
Probably fell off between 2019 - 2022
@@wigwagstudios2474 It was on completely a long time ago, I'm surprised I'm one of the only ones who knew of this unknown thing until now. That's why I looked at someones comment mysteriously or wondering abt it. Cuz he told me "pls stop spamming" all I was doing was asking questions and here we are the 3rd or 4th siren.
Was the rotor and stator cut in half back then?
@@J19_vlogger74 i don't know
It would be cool if someone could see the tags on this monstrosity
It's probably a 10HP electromechanical "collage" siren made from parts produced by the Federal Sign & Signal Corporation. Original siren could likely be a Model 5A/5B, that eventually was parted out. And also what a disappointment, I was expecting a 3 port undertone just like as in the original dual tone version.
Anyways, here's my backstory on this siren: As both the SD-10 and Model 5T have parts commonality either an SD-10 or Model 5T was installed at some point at this exact location. Eventually a single tone Model 5 unit in the county was in the process of being parted out and everything had been stripped away with the exception of the rotor and stator. The model 5's chopper assembly was eventually used on an SD-10, which already had half of its's shroud cannibalized to repair an identical unit outside of town. This SD-10 being either the original SD-10 installed at the location or another county unit that was eventually relocated to this spot at some point.
it could be a realistic explanation as i see parts of civil defense yellow and rusty metal.
Never seen this one before
The sound of the siren is very similar to that of federal signal sht-10
Looks like an Model 5 with a SD-10 motor cover, Sounds like an STH, probably just a prototype SD-10 though.
Almost sounds like a higher pitched HOR siro Drone
It sounds like an mechanical asc e class / asc iforce but it’s mixed up with an Sd 10
The wind up sounds like an sth-10
Sounds exactly like an STH-10
That is a strange siren
sounds like a fedelcode model 7
Sounds like electronic asc siren or Sth 10
Its like a single tone sd10
11 ports turbine Sounds
Whatever the fuck this thing is, it didn't start life as a Federal.
Should be an h.o.r
It sounds like a CTI smo 15
Made a homemade siren with the exact name! It's not loud and mounted on windowsill
Update: needs new motor
Another update: completely demolished
Old comment,🗿
STH-10
Looks like they customized this by taking off the bottom of an sd-10 adding a fedelcode model 5 stator and taking off the part not making the sd-10 stator visible. This couldn't be an official siren without customization wouldn't be surprised if this was an unavailable product made by federal signal that no longer was made probably after 1969
Well, THIS is a first!
Sounds like a STH-10
It Sounds like a model 5
Looks kinda like a half of a sd10
thats a very beat up prototype SD 10
its looks like SD 10 but 1 ported
Yup that's my tornado siren I'm from here it sounds creepier further away trust me😂
That is one weird fuckin thing...
Oh, its a SD-10 with bottom housing removed and a port removed
maybe
>8D
It looks like half of an SD 10 with sth 10 tone
Model5 dual head nosonville il
What
It sounds like a a sth10
That's an ACA rotor
Aren't those sloped?
Stop spreading false info you kid
probably made out of scraps and turned out weird as fuck
its obviously an sth10 rotor
Obviously ***is not*** because they have circles around the ports for the horns to slot into.
Thing sounds like a model 5. STH-10’s sound smoother most often.
Why the premiere
Why not?
